recommended against, my advice is not to go here. Sit there waiting for at least 15-20 minutes and when it's finally my turn, you tell me 1 have to wait for someone else who just showed up to go ahead of me? Zero. Excuse. Ihave never
experienced that I'Il scrap metal facility, and did not then stick around to wait longer and try my luck that no one else would come along that they would take before me.
Pricing is terrible they gave me .03 per lb for lite iron most places are .06 or more and aluminum waa half the price than everywhere else 8 wouldn't recommend going here
They suck! They made me wait an hour while they cleaned there yard, they told me it wouldbe 10 minutes. It was a total loss to me. These people are nasty to their customers, I'll never go there again. Go to Dables's scape in Garfield instead.
Had a very good experience. The staff were great, very nice and professional. It’s also close to where I live, so having a great facility close by is really convenient.
Scrap your copper elsewhere. Worst prices around by far. Went in today was offered over 50 cents less (3.19) than great scrap yards like Shipiro (3.70)… and Shapiro will come to you and pick up !!!

I’ve went there more than a few times. The reason being these guys are very professional, courteous, willing to help any way they can. They provide solutions for any of your scrap metal needs. I recommend this place to everyone.
I wasn't sure how everything worked but when i got there everyone was so helpful. Great pay day for the aluminum I brought. I will be back with more soon.
If you want to get paid the worst prices possible and get hassled about anything you bring in, this is your place. Beat two words to describe this place is Rude and CHEAP. Treat their customers like they are dumb.
This is by far the worst recycling facility in the area. Not only do they rob you on price but they rob you on weight if you weigh in advance before arriving. The staff is extremely rude and the management is even worse. They lie and talk to you like you don't know what you're talking about. I will never bring metal there again. In all honesty you're better off throwing the metal in the garbage than wasting a trip to this facility. They won't last long like this people in the industry know better.
Very helpful workers, gave me good prices for my wires and cables, and very patient. Would definitely return! New management seems to be working great!!!
Went here for the first time with a truck load of steel. I called first and they said there is 500lb limit before they pay out. I went there and they said the same thing again before I unloaded a single item. Anyone that claims they are a scam either isn't asking questions, or not paying attention. They are straightforward and offer a fast service.

Came in Saturday around noon. Brought about 20lbs of brass shell casings I had laying around. Was in and out within 5 minutes. Very quick and polite. I didn't go in there to get rich or haggle. Just wanted to recycle what I wasn't going to use and be on my way. Paid right on the spot. Gentleman who took care of me was very polite and on top of it. Will be back in a couple of weeks with more brass.
Incredibly and unnecessarily rude! Had some old appliances to drop off. Wasn't looking for money. Miserable woman was rude for no reason whatsoever. Went to Curcio in Garfield and will go back to Curcio next time.
WOW - what nasty scum own and operate Bergen Recycling. I never entered the yard or the property. I arrived on Wednesday, June 5 at about 3:30 pm. A black gentleman approached my car and politely told me that the yard was not accepting from individuals until the next day. I asked if could speak to someone since I was travelling the next day. I pulled over and parked on the public street next to the yard and got out of my pickup truck. This miserable sheman came up to me, screaming, yelling and demanded that I move my truck immediately and maybe they would accept my appliances in a half hour.
I went to Curcio - they apologized and told me that the scale was shut down. But, they did accept my items without incident.
No, the reviewers with 1 star got it right! Your miserable - for no reason.
Very disappointed with the way I was treated. I had to carry a 20 pound washing machine motor from my car, only to find that I needed to have a minimum of 50 pounds for the big scale. You got to be kidding. I don't have two more motors to scrap. I know the motor is not completely made of copper. I would never ask for copper pricing for a motor that has much iron and aluminum in it. The jerk who took care of me just assumed that was what I wanted, without ever giving me a chance to speak. But, hey, it's a junkyard. Maybe he wanted me to hand it to him for nothing.
So I took the motor to the place on Midland Ave near Elmwood Park. They gave me $2 for my motor after weighing it. At least they took the time to weigh it and treat me like a human being. I am also happy that the motor did not end up in a landfill somewhere.
So I guess this means I must have a minimum of 50 pounds of whatever before I can even walk in the door ? I've seen your floor scale weigh as little as 7 or 8 pounds.
I will never deal with your company again.
Worst recycling scrap yard ever they rip you off they're not fair with their prices they lie to you about what the medals actually made of and now apparently they have a new 400 pound minimum I highly recommend you don't go here they will rip you off no matter how many times you come back me and my buddy been customers there for several years and now since it's under new ownership these people are horrible please do yourself a favor don't get ripped off there's several other scrap yards that will give you more for your medal and your tin and copper and everything else. I remember one time I had a little bit of insulation on a few copper pipes didn't give me a full value these people are scumbags please do not go here you will regret it whether you know it or not you're going to regret it
I had lots of recycled metal due to cleanup that I had done around my home. Friendly service, great prices. Nothing but a positive experience from my point of view.
This place has been a great find for me. After doing some home renovation I brought all my recyclable scrap here. The staff is super friendly and they pay top dollar. I have alao referred a lot of my contractor friends who have alao been very happy with their services. I highly recommend Bergen Recycling!
Great place great prices great people . been comong here for years . i personally recommend everyone to come here prices on the wall scale in front of your face so you see the weight yourself no playing games here like someothere place i been to. Number 1 in my book
After reading the other reviews I thought was the place for me. I was doing a very large job in the area and was quoted a price. After I dumped a woman Sonja came out and screamed at me that she wouldn’t give me the price I was quoted. I have been in the scrap business for many years and this is a first for me.
I came here with a nice load of aluminum and lite iron. The person at the scale told me to throw it in a bin and come back on the scale. When I got to the scale house they told me it was all steel. Not sure how gutters are considered steel since ive been a siding contractor for 25 years. The woman Sonya that i spoke with was extremely unprofessional and told me i should take it somewhere else if i didnt like it.
Called up with pricing questions and was given an attitude because the ass on the other end of the line didn't understand what I was asking. Rude and unhelpful staff. Their website is from 1995 and never has any updated or useful information.
