First time coming here today. Had a small amount of scrap copper and brass that I was cleaning out of the basement. Gotta tell you the gentleman working at the scale and the man in the office were very professional very courteous and I highly recommend going to George’s they even helped me figure out about some scrap metal I need to just get rid of come spring time that I was unable to have the garbage man take. Also surprisingly they pay in cash through ATM type machine in the office area, I would give them 10 stars if possible .
The new tow guys that tow the car are crooks they tell me over the phone and locked a deal with me for 500 and guy come scetch out because come to fine out they gave him 400 and told him they never agreed to 500. I never had a problem with the junk yard I love the junk yard but this tow place is is unbelievable.
The best scrap yard I have ever been to. I've been an electrician for over 20 years and I've been to pretty much every scrap yard in Northern Jersey over the years and I have to say that George's is above and beyond the best experience you will get going to a scrap yard. The prices are always fair and always at the top end.
I always enjoy going to George's, an incredibly well-run operation.

Been going here for a very long time, always fair and honest. Workers are always helpful and friendly. Last time I went, the lady in the office even gave my pup a treat.
I had been carting some pipe around that the plumber cut out on a renovation. I didnt k ow where to go and the people at the dump told me to come here. They were closed by 20 minutes and waited for me. On top of that they were all so friendly and greeted with smiles and lined up to help unload and then had cash in hand quick as can be. So glad to have found them and they were really so kind!!
I called George's Salvage on a Monday afternoon, looking to have a car towed off my property before an impending storm. I spoke with someone who told me they'd be able to remove it the next day, Tuesday. The storm was going to hit on Wednesday. He quoted me a fair price for the car. The next day I called a few minutes before they opened to leave a message confirming the pick up, and I got the gentleman on the phone, and not only were they coming for my car that day, but the tow truck would be at my home first thing in the morning! After work I came home to find my driveway empty, and not a check but cash waiting for me in an envelope. Courteous, prompt and professional - I have a new metal company I intend to deal with, and so should everyone who reads this review. 5 star service!
Been bringing odd and end scrap here for 10+ years whenever I have some accumulated. Very honest and helpful in making sure scrap is sorted correctly, prices are always on the higher end, if not higher than other local yards. Sure, there can be lines at times, and it can get hectic, but that's to be expected with a successful business. I will happily continue bringing my scrap to George's.
A good place to get money for your assorted scrap. If you have a big pile of scrap metal to take care of, just stop by! Busy at times (maily when it opens there is a faily long line, but it moves quickly).
Honest, upstanding, respectful --- can't say enough good things about George's Salvage. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure that you get the best service and they consistently pay highest prices. They have been around for years -- and no wonder! I can't fathom the previous bad review --- she must have gone to a different place (probably got confused with Rockaway). It's worth the extra travel to go to George's Salvage! Wish I could give them 10 stars!!
I had the WORST experience at this place! Don't even waste your time going there! First they were going so slow, there was a line that wrapped all the way down the street. Needless to say I had to wait at least 23 minutes just to get in. Now this isn't the first time I've scrapped metal. Usually if you go to Rockaway, they never give you a problem. I had to scrap Aluminum MC, and they rang it up on the receipt as Aluminum BX. This was not a mistake. Due to me being a woman they thought I wouldn't know the wiser...WRONG!! They paid me $0.60 a pound for something they normally sell for like a $1.50 a pound. I tried to call them to correct the error after pulling out of their parking lot and the guy wanted nothing to do with me. I will never go back there again!
I'm not in a business where I generate any sizable amounts of scrap metal. I'm just your average homeowner. So either I pay to bring my scrap metal to the dump or scrap it here and make a few bucks and bring my kids out for ice cream!
