Did tons of research. Read the horror stories of inexperienced/unfamiliar people trying to purchase these trucks straight from govplanet only to find problem after problem. There were the lucky few success stories, but I decided to hedge my bets and use a reputable dealer. MME kept popping up, so I reached out to them as well as several other dealers. Talked to Joe and decided to make the 11-hour trip up for a test drive. Joe was very accessible, straight forward, and knowledgeable. I knew that buying from such a dealer, one pays a premium, but I am writing this review to help the next person feel more confident in that decision. In a perfect world with all the time in the world and all the luck in the world I could have bought the truck for 10 cents on the dollar at auction, titled it myself, and made any necessary repairs. It is indeed not a perfect world, so I made the real-world decision to buy from MME. It's worth mentioning that many parts are not something you can just source at your local TruckPro or FleetPride. This can make an auction truck start to get pricy very quickly. You will need someone like MME to source hard to find military specific parts from.
Now for the affirmation. When on my test drive with Joe, I noticed a knocking in hard cornering down low in the front right end of the truck. I had Joe drive the truck. We both looked under the truck, and he believed it was the air-ride cab mount knocking in hard jolts. Paint was missing where things had touched so it sounded plausible. I deferred to him as I am new to these trucks. I made the deal and had the truck shipped home. After having the truck torn down for mods in my home shop for the first couple of months, I noticed the culprit while under it on a creeper. The rear eye on the main leaf on the right front spring was broken. A lucky find as it was military wrapped and not easily seen. I reached out to Joe with an email, and within an hour he was calling to ship a replacement match set of leaf packs to me at his expense. I offered to pay freight, but Joe would not have it! He wanted to make it right. By the end of that same week a freight truck was delivering the 500lbs worth of springs/hangers/shackles to my home. Thanks Joe. This is why I know we made the right choice.
I've done work with this company for the past 8 years. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and will go to great lengths to ensure people are truly taken care of.
They are capable of most projects, but will be candid about what service they can provide you with. If they aren't able to answer immediately, they will absolutely reach back out and tie up any loose ends.

Well I'm here to tell you Joe Thatcher is exactly that. The most honest straightforward guy I've met in along time. Midwest military equipment was the most fun I've ever had shopping for a truck in my life.
We were greeted by Nate, (the parts specialist) who made my wife and I feel like old friends. Joe was tied up in a phone call when we first got there. But soon afterward we were greeted by Joe with an honest smile.
He was extremely knowledgeable with the truck and pretty much knew everything about it. We went on a test drive that Ithought was going to kill both of us but Joe just laughed.
My wife and I are newbies when it comes to this market but we felt very comfortable upon leaving.
Cut to bottom line. If you want a no BS fair honest company then I urge you to stop by Midwest military equipment.

My wife and I purchased an LMTV M1079 for Midwest Military Equipment at the beginning of March 2018. From the very first phone call, we have had a fantastic experience. Joe Thatcher ‘the owner’ is a man true to his word and these days that is hard and rare to find. He knows what brilliant customer service is all about. Any concern, issue we have had, has been dealt with promptly and in a very professional manner. Joe does not rest until his customers are 100% happy and he made us feel like we were the most important people in the world. We can not say enough about the customer service we have received and how friendly everyone at Midwest Military Equipment is.
To give you any example, on our journey home from Midwest Military Equipment, we experienced a failure with the engine cooling fan. We called Joe late at night from the side of the road for help / advise. We managed to get the truck home without hurting it or ourselves thanks to Joe. Over that weekend, Joe had us take pictures of the fan assembly, so he could assess the problem. Within a couple of days, Joe phoned us to let us know that all replacement parts were on the way to us and he never asked us for penny, as he wasn’t happy that we did not have perfect experience on our journey home. Problem solved!
This is just one of the experiences we can speak about regarding the brilliant customer service for both before and after the purchase of our amazing truck. Even a month on from purchasing the truck, Joe still contacts us to ask how the build is going and how we are doing. I wish more companies operated like this.
If my wife and I are ever in the need of buying another ex-military truck, we will definitely be calling Joe.
We however, will be calling Joe again in the future for spare parts, custom work, aftermarket equipment and tech advice as I know that if he doesn’t know the answer or have what we need, he knows where to find.

nobody picks up the phone or answers emails. bought a winch bumper from these guys and i cant find a winch to fit their small bucket. buyer beware. all i wanted was a recommendation for a winch that would fit their setup.
