This shop is amazing. I have a hard time trusting people who work on my car. They went above and beyond my expectations. Ron was the first person I talked to about my car. He was very nice and is definitely knowledgeable about finding a solution for my cars issue. I also have to thank Alex for fixing my car so I have heat again. My car was literally done in a day. I took some of Ron's business cards. I will passing them out to all my friends. Thank you all so very much.
•••••CAUTION••••DECEITFUL BEHAVIOR
Their initial written diagnostics and communication was superb. They diagnosed a costly repair to which I authorized them to proceed. Well into the repair they called to say their diagnosis was wrong and unfortunately I would need a new engine. The revised proposal they gave me included the original written diagnosis, however upon closer inspection they had gone back and inserted an additional “diagnosis” into the paragraph. I assume this was to cover their mistake. When I asked if somebody had gone back and changed it, they said it wasn’t possible. I produced the original with out the “correct diagnosis” to which I received a deer in the headlights stare. They acknowledged the initial diagnosis had been changed, but could not explain how or why. Reputable companies don’t go back and attempt to cover their tracks. They own their mistakes. Hard lesson learned on my part.

Sir, with all due respect, I gave you $1,600.00 to begin the repair. By the time your team discovered they had misdiagnosed the problem, you issued me a bill for $900.00 and nothing to show for it. You refunded me the other $700 that I had already paid you. Of course you were obligated to do that. What you weren't obligated to do was charge me overhead and profit for time wasted on unecessary work. I would have gladly paid for your actual costs incurred to make you whole. You took no accountability for the misdiagnosis and wasted time. The one star review is generous.

When I say that they took care of me! They did right away. They got me in right away because they knew I was leaving on Sunday for the winter!! I have a 2014 Mercedes E250 blue tec and It was reading that I needed an A3 maintenance done…they knew actually what it was and said.. No problem…plus it’s Thanksgiving week!! They made sure everything was taken care of and I picked my car up the next day. I’m so thankful that I have a trusted place to bring my car now!! I had my car towed here to have them look at it and access what all needed to be done. They were quick to look at it and gave me a very detailed inspection report to what all needed to be done. I didn't have the money right away to pay for everything, so it sat there for almost 3 weeks but they were patient and understanding. Ron is very kind and personable and I will be bringing my car here again for any future repairs. Thanks Ron!
This has not been published online that I've found, but this shop is recently under new ownership and is now a satellite branch of Tri-City Auto Repair (Spring Lake).
We had our car here last week to diagnose a check engine light. The defective switch/sensor was identified and replaced. It took longer than hoped, 3 business days total. But so far the check engine light has not returned.
They gave me a Tri City Auto discount, which I appreciated. They also identified the battery was leaking and had low CCA. They quoted a battery replacement for about $480, which I declined since I was able to do it myself for about a third of the cost.
I stopped in at Norton Shores automotive with my 07 powerstroke having no AC. They were able to look at it the next morning and found the leak and recharged it for a very reasonable price. I was very pleased and impressed with Frank’s customer service and honesty. This was my first time taking my truck to a shop and it was a great experience.
Had an appointment for an oil change today, and Frank was excellent in telling about what kind of oil and filter would be used. Nice waiting room, and took less time than I expected. This place is always very friendly and professional. 👍
I brought my car here as a one last chance before sending my car to the junk yard. I brought it to others around town and even the dealership and no one could figure it out. After 4 days of going over the car inch by inch. Found my problem and was able to fix it and my car is running like a dream. Apparently the people I bought the from getto wired a GPS system in it and it messed up the whole car because they did it wrong.
Car overheated on the highway right before a long trip, happened to see this place right off the road and could not be more thankful! We did a test drive and he explained everything that he was thinking/looking for, helped me look under my hood so I could tell what was going on too. Excellent service, and you can tell that the worker (Frank, I believe) had incredible intelligence, integrity, and patience dealing with someone who is NOT super good with cars (me!). Absolutely would recommend coming here, many flowers to the workers here. :-)
I've only recently switched to this shop since moving back to the muskegon area. These guys are great. I appreciate the clear diagnostic process, the friendly/professional interactions, and just how approachable the team is. Prices suck but that is not their problem. With the price of steal rising, shortage on labor jobs, and overall inflation they are doing the best they can. I also want to make it known that shops are not a perfected business. Just because they repair one thing doesn't mean another won't break! These guys deserve credit for the physically demanding and under appreciated life of a mechanic. Keep it up guys!

I was bringing My vehicle in to get an alignment, and the gentleman said I was able to drop it off Monday and they'll look and the gentleman Said I was able to drop it off Sunday and they'll look at it Monday, which I appreciate the convenience. Unfortunately when they called on Monday they said they were not able to perform the work because of the condition of my vehicle, which is completely understandable but we're going to charge me $130 for the inspection. The inspection costs were not mentioned on our initial call and if I had known I would not have brought the vehicle there just for an inspection. But without me even hinting at my dissatisfaction of the situation Frank considered himself in my shoes and only charged me half of the inspection cost because he understood this was not a charge I was expecting but one that they would typically charge.
So going into it, remember there's a cost of $130 for inspection! But also keep in mind that these are some of the most real and honest mechanics!
They are always so helpful. Anytime I have to have something done, it is done with the smile and with a pleasant attitude. Went there today to have my headlights changed and he fit me in and got it done right away. they are always so nice to work with. Highly recommend them.
Went in with a brake issue on Dec 5, 2023. Frank called and said they initially found a broken brake line and a rear line was misrouted. There was never any fluid in my driveway. Quoted me $700. My husband came in on the 8th and test drove the vehicle and it was not any better. Frank did knock $400 off the charges. It took my 65 year old husband, 4 hours with a floor jack, to fix the brakes. These certified ASE mechanics had a lift and 3 days.
I worked for an auto parts store for about 2 years. My husband has worked on cars since he was a teenager. I am ASE certified in brakes. The problem was the caliper pins were seized up. Which was evident as soon as you looked at them.
Never did they say a thing about the caliper pins. Did tell me they would have to continue looking thru the brake system for another approximately $2K.
After I posted my review the owner called and apologized and asked me to take it down. Then said they fixed my gas tank gauge for free. The gas gauge still does not work, just as the brakes were not fixed. Honesty goes a long way.
Frank made the age old mechanics mistake of thinking he had a woman who knew nothing about cars. We could have fixed this ourselves, and eventually did, but we don't have a lift and are both too old to be crawling on the cold ground.
Ever since we moved to the area we started using Norton Shores Auto for all of our auto repair needs and have not been disappointed. The folks here are honest and let us know that they couldn't recommend us repair our 2004 car after we had managed to run the cars oil out by going over the mileage recommended for the next oil change.
The recommended repair was well over the value of the car and they couldn't really guarantee to any degree that the engine wasn't going to work properly moving forward.
Ultimately, if you live in the area or need a repair shop for your broken down vehicle I highly recommend stopping in here and giving these folks a go, I don't think you'll be disappointed by their work.
Not a great experience unfortunately . They’re just like every other shop who tries to nickel and dime you. I needed simple work done. oil change/ a leaking brake line on the passenger front side/And an exhaust leak fix(or possibly swapping muffler/basic Michigan vehicle maintenance) if need be. Once they heard I didn’t wanna partake in their 120$ diagnostic fee they ironically backed out after my truck sat there for 1 week untouched then into week # 2 before they “didn’t wanna touch it anymore” They pick an choose what jobs they want or don’t want. Wishy washy is the feel I got from this place.
My catalytic converter broke randomly as I was driving through Muskegon. They were conveniently located right off the highway so I pulled into their parking lot. The two service techs were incredibly helpful in diagnosing the issue. Since I was in transit to Howell, I wasn’t able to wait for them to order a part and do the work. However, they were able to recommend me to a local exhaust specialist who got it fixed up for me. Though our exchange was short, I would return to this shop for any repair needs just based off the humanity and respect I was shown by the service personnel. That’s something that can be hard to find these days.
I have been going to this place for over 4 years and will not take my vehicles anywhere else! They are honest, trustworthy, and have never steered me wrong. During my routine oil change I asked to have my brakes replaced because I thought they were going bad and they said I had a little more time left on them which gave me more time to save more coin to get them replaced during my next oil change. Also, the front desk lady is a sweetheart and a gem!
I had a valve stem start leaking and Bell Tire told me they were too busy and didn’t want to help. I called and they were willing to fit me in and get me back on the road. They were professional and had a nice clean waiting room. I will use them again.

They fixed my issue promptly, didn't add on things that didn't need to be done, and didn't over charge me for the services provided! I will ABSOLUTELY bring my vehicle there again and highly recommend them! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Friends, let me tell you about Norton Shores Automotive...not only did they fix my issue, they saw me same day and didn't even charge me!! Granted the repair was minor and didn't require any parts, but still, what amazing service!! This is my second experience with this business and I am more than satisfied, I am impressed, with every aspect. Pay attention Muskegon because this is what a business should be! These guys are awesome!!! Fixed my son's car. There was a small issue but when I brought it back that took it right in and took care of me. Would highly recommend them and are now my place of choice to get my car fixed. Thank you Frank for making it right for us!!!! Keep up the good honest work!!
I will always take my vehicle here! They have saved me twice now with my muffler snapping. Today my muffler snapped on my way home. I took a chance of seeing what they could do for me, "if anything" Even with a short notice Dave was nice enough to take a look it and put a temporary fix on it. He didn't have to but he did and I am so appreciative of it. All the techs and Kris at the front desk are so nice, personable, and honest! I only trust them!
DONT GO HERE if you value your money asked for diagnosis of problems they threw a bunch of new parts at it over a grand later problem still there the said they test drove it and everything was working great bit mile down road and check engine light comes back on we have our own scan tool came up with same codes as before brought back to them they state saying maybe we should try oem parts my question is why didn't you do that in the first place never again .... this review will be posted on my Facebook page also.....
Went in with a brake issue that we couldn't figure out. They took the time to really find the issue. It was a hard part to find but they did it and kept us updated. I absolutely loved the communication. I would recommend them again and will definitely use them again. They even kept the vehicle clean. I have used places in the past and had oil/grease all over the doors from the mechanics. Great that they really care.
Driving from the Grand Rapids area, these guys were very accommodating to work me in so they could look over a vehicle we were thinking about purchasing. They were very honest and thorough with the findings and the cost of repairs. Very professional and courteous. Would definitely recommend and use them myself regularly if they were in Grand Rapids!
I dropped my car off thinking that I needed rear brakes and I had a major electrical problem going on. They fixed the problem that was making all of the noise in the rear, and fixed my electrical issues too. They only charged me 89.00 and I got my car back the same day. 😊These folks could easily have told me that I needed new brakes, and I would have paid for them. Thank you to the staff for being so helpful and honest, it's definitely refreshing. I would absolutely recommend this place for all your car needs.
Honest and ethical beyond belief!! I was new in town, and was prepared to spend money on new brakes. They evaluated my car, and explained that the noise I heard did not require fixing. They also gave me a ride home when I dropped off my car, and then picked me up. They did all that for FREE! I told the owner, minimally he should charge for the evaluation. He said they build their business on trustworthiness and repeat business. They are trustworthy.
Would defiantly recommend this crew ! Very professional, honest and fair pricing.

The Norton Shores Team is awesome. They have been servicing my vehicles now for several years now and do honest and high quality work at a reasonable price. The have done major transmission service my 18 year old truck in addition to brakes on my 3 year old car. They have a great tire and alignment program which I have also taken advantage of. Give these guys a try, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
