It's an alright place to go if you're in a time pinch as it's close to home for me.
Don't go here if you want cash. Also, if you don't know what you have don't go here. It's a business and most of them look out for them not the novice scraper.
There's also a younger generation there alot seems like and either they don't know the ropes yet or they try to undercut you on what you have. Such as all the plate steel I brought in they tried to send me to regular scrap...not this guy.
Same thing happened with rotors I brought in...I don't blame them for either. Nature of the beast, but typically I'll drive a bit farther to Padnos very helpful and the scrap pricing is listed along with getting cash opposed to a check which my bank prefers to hold for days for some reason.
Still go here, and will continue to.
P.s. They really need new glass at the scale. I can barely see them when they get my weight and flag me through.
Went there looking for a tire the younger woman was really nice when I showed concern with driving my new vehicle in their back lot due to not wanting to puncture my tires. The older woman however got pissy with me telling me to do what I want cuz I asked to walk back instead of driving my vehicle. Didn't realize it was such an inconvenience to ask.
Everytime I've come here they always throw a barrel up on the scale and then I load it up with copper. The worker refused to use a barrel and it was spilling off the sides. Then as I went to my truck to grab more they pulled it all off the scale without me seeing the #. I asked to load it back up in a barrel and they all stood around (4 guys) and watched me load it back up. They made a big deal out of it. I believe they ripped me off because of how defensive they got. I will not be coming back here again as they seem really shady to me now.
I’ve been to Greenville Steel Sales twice now to buy steel. Once for 1/4” rod and once to buy some scrap metal for use in blacksmithing. Both times the people here left such a good impression on me, they were very friendly and were very helpful in making sure I found exactly what I was there to get while also saving money on it. Never did it seem like they were in any way bothered to help me out. Love the welcoming attitude, I will be coming back for all the steel I need for the forge!
This place is fantastic!!! I drive an hour just to buy steel from them when I could get it about 20 minutes from my house. Their prices are so much lower than what is close to me it’s well worth the drive and I have always gotten great service. They have been very helpful even though I don’t buy a huge amount and I am definitely not a professional when it comes to steel and steel fabrication. Couldn’t be happier!!
Anytime you call to get pricing to purchase steel, they act like you are wasting their time. The guys in the yard are not too bad at all, they are helpful anytime I am out there. But, their office staff is always moody. Frankly its getting old! Anytime I buy steel from the yard I always make sure I have the right amount of cash on me so I don't have to deal with the ladies in the office.
Today, had my wife go there to get 2 sheets of Expanded Metal, 4' X 8', the standard 3/4" Diamond pattern for use on trailer floor. They said they had it and for $41.00 per sheet. She drove there and they sent her thru the scrap area outback and the so called worker had No Clue what she needed. She came home minus the material. They wasted an hour of our Time and $7.00 in gas for Nothing. Not to mention that I couldn't get my project done. (Westbrook)
