Jesse and I do yard clean up from selling firewood, removing standing trees, and taking scrap. I never go inside but its clean welcoming, all the employees are friendly, and attentive to helping out there customers. I also like that We don't have to go to two different places to be rid of it. Fast service. The employees definitely had the process down to a T. Quickly sorted my metal to assure I received the most money. The lot was also all paved, unlike most scrap yards that are dirt and full or sharp debris. I would say very clean atmosphere considering the fact it's a scrap yard.
DONT COME HERE i had a subaru cataylitc converter and got paid $430 for it. i went on facebook to see how much people who buy them to see how much i could get. i got offerd $800 for it and showed me a pic on eco cat how much its worth. dont come here they scam people
Absolutely amazing people who work there! The lady in the office Emily is so good with our son when he helps he absolutely loves her. There is also a gentleman who works in the building who always asks where our little helper is when he's not there or just gives him a big high five, when he is there with us.
Called about scraping a catalytic converter and the guys were extremely helpful,. I don't do much scraping so I was kinda out of my element, smooth transaction and will be back again. Thank You All.
Westside is my favorite ppace to take back scrap metal and i like 45 minutes north of grand rapids they pay more than any other junkyard ive been to and they aren't picky like they are further north.my favorite thing about this place is you can take as much copper as you want and they pay you cash no waiting for a check
I had scraped with this people for many years now. They were just kids when I started doing business with them. Never find anyone better. Great service and great prices. Some times you want to go where everybody knows your name.
Scaling in and out was easy. The path through the yard was relatively clean and I didn’t have to worry about puncturing a tire. An employee helped me unload my scrap and I got my money from the office quickly and trouble free. Nice people, good location, good prices. Good experience overall.
Previously, I gave them 5 stars. I used to purchase scrap lead here. Then this company grew and moved to a new location. The owner is no longer helpful. When I asked to purchase scrap lead he told me he has none and anyway is obligated to sell only to one particular purchaser. Overall was not customer friendly.
The people here are very nice and helpful. And I got more $ then I expected. This is the only time I actually didn't hate going to a dump yard. If I could give them 6 stars I would.
I have been going to West Side Iron & Metal for over 5 -. Every time I take scrap metal to West Side, I am treated good, all employee's are on the ball. Sometimes I ask "How do I get the best price for metal, staff/owners gave me professional advice. The people at West Side are 100% honest. I would go to West Side even if out of my way.

We first did business with these guys looking for more sources for stainless steel scrap. Pricing is fair based directly off the market.
I have also sold them scrap from time to time and regardless of what 1 or 2 people wrote on here their pricing is 100% on par with anyone else in west Michigan. If your scrapping cats there is no one better, they WILL NOT rip you off like some yards do on these high value items.
Also worth noting is that since Enterprise Iron & Metal closed up shop their customer traffic has increased drastically so be patient. Considering the traffic these guys move FAST.
Whether your buying or selling west side deserves a 5 star rating & is highly recommended over Padnos.

Helped my dad out by taking some scrap into West Side Iron and Metal. A young gentleman was very helpful explaining the process of sorting the metals and where they went. The young guy that's been running the old and the new place for a while wants to rip me off just about every time I go there. Not sure if it's a personal thing or if he's that way too everyone. But I do know padnos pays way better. Guess who I'm bringing my busines too for now on?
I have always received great service here and the new facility is clean, fresh, and a welcome addition. I'm always able to get in and out of here quickly and appreciate the great service I always receive. Their prices for scrap is always Fair and they are always helpful to tell you how to maximize your load.
I had never been to a scrap yard before, I was looking for an I beam to use as a cheap anvil for metal working. These guys were very helpful and super nice. The lady at the front desk took me out and showed me where I might find what i was looking for. I searched for a little bit without any luck, a guy in a bobcat stopped and asked if he could help. Sure enough he took me over to a huge box full of cut up railroad tracks. (which he told me would work even better then a I beam!) They said they dont often have people buying stuff from them usually its the other way around but they were more then happy to help. Great experience great people.
Called Westside Iron to inquire about auto salvage. Unfortunately they do not deal with junk cars but Joe was very knowledgeable on the topic and not only did he suggest a few ideas he was helpful enough to get me the phone number of someone he knows. Very impressed with the customer service provided to someone who wasn't even going to have a paying job for them.
