Sister Inlaw bought a car from them and not even 2 months later transmission completely went out on car. Now shes stuck with a 20k$ paper weight for a car and a 12k transmission bill. Hasn't even made her third payment on the car. Absolutely ridiculous. No wonder they are going out of business

Bad customer relations. Promised a call by manager on Friday on availability of my new vehicle and never received a call with at least an update. Then, promised a call again on Monday and again no phone call update.

I bought a 2013 Chevy Tahoe from this dealership. I’ve had it for a couple years now. My rear ac line went out, so I had them check and get me a quote. 2300 and some change was the original quote. Part online was $400 which was a big red flag. I do understand they have to make money on it. Talked them down to 2000. Still extremely expensive for what the tech said was a 4 hour job that wasn’t that bad. Called Dave Kring in Petosky a couple days later and they quoted me $1566. The problem with this is GM dealerships are all linked to the same system and get everything for the same price. I know this because I was a parts guy at another Chevy dealer at one point in my life. The up charge on this part is ridiculous! I’ll definitely spend a little more time drive to get a better price and better service!

I was looking for a truck drove through the parking lot of Charlevoix motors a couple of times there is a couple that I wanted to drive so while looking at one, a salesman came out and asked if he could help me and what I was looking for and I said yes, I was looking for a reliable truck to buy so I was looking at two different trucks. One was a 2017 and one was a 2023. I test drove both of them. I went with the 2017. The sales person was probably 24. You could tell that he was brand new didn’t know what he was doing . I was overlooking the truck and I asked him to see if a couple of stains could come out of the front seat. He said that he would look into it. Don’t even think he did cause the stain was still there then they sell you this stuff to put over the cloth seats to protect it in case there’s a spill apparently they make you do it instead of having their company do it for you. Didnt even know the last time it had an oil change I asked the salesman if he would do that. They didn’t even do that. so six months later when I was looking into having my son drive my truck while my grandson was here I called to make sure that he would be covered under my insurance in case of an accident. Come to find out. I had no insurance on my car. I was just adding a truck. I was not trading in my car. I had no insurance for six months on my car , when I called Charlevoix Motors to report what had happened she was very unprofessional when I told her I could’ve been in an accident. I could’ve killed somebody and I would’ve been probably put in prison for not having insurance. Her reaction was at least you saved money for the last six months no insurance for your car I thought that was very unprofessional , they could have said hey will pay your insurance for the last 6 months or we will give you a couple free oil changes or anything like that I told her the sales person should’ve never been able to sell me a truck on his own. He should’ve still been trained with somebody. Maybe this process would’ve been a little bit easier I’d contacted my insurance company and let them know after I had talked to , she calls herself the GM about how unprofessional she was and he said yes that is horrible. He told me that the company had called them and needed to add insurance on the truck. Didn’t even let them know that I was not trading in my car, the lady so-called GM said that she has professional sales persons and that train this kid still I believe that they are in the wrong and I will never do business with them again.

Matt was extremely helpful throughout the process and never made me feel like a bother when I asked as many questions as I did. Very thankful for the entire team for doing their best to get me into a reliable and affordable car! Editing April 2024: When I purchased my car in august of 2023 I was extremely happy with my salesman and how helpful he and the Charlevoix auto team were. Unfortunately things have gone so downhill I find myself more and more frustrated the more I deal with people at Charlevoix auto. To start, 2 months after I purchased my vehicle I needed almost $7,000 worth of work done on the engine. Thankfully most was covered under my warranty and the shop covered what wasn’t covered under the warranty because they knew they messed up. When I purchased the vehicle I was told a full inspection was completed and everything was in good condition. When this work needed to be done I asked the service manager how this wasn’t caught when I purchased the vehicle. I was told that they were in the process of doing a full inspection but were told to stop the inspection because someone (me) had purchased the vehicle and there was a warranty. 3-4 weeks later, I finally get my vehicle back. It’s an older vehicle so I do not expect perfection, but for the price I paid I do expect things to work. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, the end of March. I was in Midland for the weekend and we had gotten 1-2 inches of snow overnight. I cleaned off my windshield with a snow brush and went to turn my wipers on to help keep the snow off my windshield. My wipers went halfway up my windshield and completely stopped working. I had several people look at my car and all said it was something to do with my wiper motor. When the shop opened I called to get my car scheduled for a diagnosis and repair. On Monday morning I get a call asking what was happening with my wipers even though I had made it clear what was wrong when I called AND when I dropped off my keys. I explained to them what was happening and received a text shortly after stating they were unable to find ANYTHING wrong with the motor of my wipers and their only solution was that I had old wipers that needed replaced. They called and told me they could replace the wipers for $70 which I immediately denied because that’s a ridiculous amount of money for wipers. I was then told it would be $120 just for the diagnosis and when I questioned the cost I was told ‘he put a half hour into it looking at the wiring’. If it had been mentioned that the motor seemed weird, why was ONLY the wiring checked? It is also obvious that the wipers can’t go up to full speed even after replacing the wiper blades. I reluctantly paid the $120 to be told I needed new wiper blades, and while looking at the invoice I was charged $15 for shop supplies? If only the wiring was checked and I denied the replacement of the wiper blades, why was I charged $15 for shop supplies? There were of course several ‘suggested’ maintenance issues that totaled over $2600. I asked if any of these were covered under my warranty (that is active until august of this year) and was told they didn’t know. They did find out for me, but when I asked for information about my warranty they were unable to provide any sort of productive information. I was given a phone number to call and a policy number. I know every policy is different, but a general understanding of warranty policies would make sense. Overall, I’ve been extremely disappointed with the deception and inactivity by Charlevoix auto. I initially wanted to use Charlevoix auto because a friend worked there and I wanted to support her, but she no longer works there and I can clearly see why. If you’re looking to be overcharged for a vehicle and spend way too much time trying to figure out repairs, this is the dealership for you. Otherwise, i would stay far away.

Absolutely awesome experience. Matt was the best salesman we've ever had. Very helpful and not in the least a "car salesman". Would highly recommend to anyone-- good service and price was great.

This dealership is the most unorganized, unprofessional business I have ever had the experience of doing business with. My 2018 Jeep Compass that has over $10k in warranties on it had the starter go out. Upon having it towed to the dealership on 1/18/24, it sat until the following day on 1/19/24 when I received a phone call from Jim stating it was not my starter, but my battery and spark plugs. Upon approving this work being done, as I have no mechanical intelligence and trust these “professionals,” they “replaced” my battery and spark plugs. After this work was done, I got a call from Jim on 1/22/24 stating that they replaced the battery and spark plugs and my car was still not starting, to which they needed to now order a starter. The initial part I brought my car in for and told them about! So now, a week of not having my car, I’m waiting another week and a half before the part was delivered on 1/28/24. They told me it would be about a four hour job and it may be done at the end of the business day. That evening, I arrived at the dealership to inquire on the progress of my car, and to get a receipt proving my initial battery had failed. Jim gave me the receipt, let me know the car would be done by noon on 2/1/24. 11:55 am rolls around on 2/1/24 and Jim calls to tell me they need a couple more hours. 1:55 pm on 2/1/24 Jim tells me that they need about 30 minutes to test drive it on the road and he will call me back for a payment for my battery and spark plugs (starter covered under warranty.) around 2:45 PM, Jim calls back to take my payment and states my car will be delivered to my work soon. 3:15 Pm on 2/1/24, Jim calls back to tell me that Chad, service manager, took my car on the road and is hearing a funny noise but it won’t sound funny if I drive the car in “snow” mode. I immediately told Jim he would not be returning my car that did not come in with noises, back to me with noises. I made it very clear that I am a single woman, I drive my six year old in the backseat daily and if my vehicle is not 100% reliable, I do not want it back. It’s now the morning of 2/2/24, I am still waiting on a returned phone call from the general manager as well as my full REFUND for what they had me pay for when my car isn’t even done! I called Jim again to request the money back and question him about the receipt I received for my battery which stated “good results” - why are you replacing my perfectly good battery? I feel like this dealership is a complete SCAM and I am being SCAMMED. Jim then stated that they never replaced my battery and he apologized and will get with his management to get my refund. However, I have been out of a car for over 3 weeks as a single human, Miss New GM states they are “unable to give rentals because they don’t have enough inventory” yet we live in a town that can ASSURE YOU is not selling 100+ cars per day. I asked for the junkiest one on the lot to have in the mean time and it was a no. This business has not even attempted to rectify this nonsense for their customer who has put THOUSANDS of dollars into their company. It is sickening that I am just a paycheck to their pocket and they could care less about what an inconvenience it has caused to my day to day life. I will never recommend business with this company. Their lack of communication, professionalism, and all around customer service is terrible. As of 2/2/24, I still do not have my car back and still do not have any answers for this unexplainable experience I have had.

This is a review for the Lighthouse Auto Carwash owned by this dealership. I paid for 2 months of membership, and the car wash was broken each time i tried to use it. No refund, no credit, just a “Sorry” from the owner. Gave it another shot, and my car looks the exact same after spending money on this car wash. Don’t waste your time and money. Some people got refunds or credits back, I got a “sorry.” Disappointed is an understatement.

I could have gotten an oil change last week but opted to this week to get my brakes checked and replaced if needed. After my oil change, I was told my rear brakes and rotors needed to be replaced but the parts weren't in stock, even after I previously told them I thought I needed brakes. My main concern was getting the oil change and brakes done in one trip. Also, I have told them in the past about oil and dirt on my steering wheel after they've previously worked on my vehicles. They should take a little pride in making their customers happy.

Jeff really went out of his way to locate the vehicle I wanted, which at first, was a new 2022 Chevy Equinox. But not just any 2022 Equinox. A Silver Ice Metallic Equinox. This turned out to be an exceptionally tall order, but he came through and found not just 1, but 2 vehicles! Ultimately, I decided to buy a 2023 Equinox that's Sterling Gray Metallic and I'm very happy with it! Jeff is a very honest, sincere person who's very conscientious and works hard to meet his customers' requests. He's very personable and really listens to his customers. Samantha was great to work with, too! Very helpful! She explained the service contract options and all of the paperwork at the time of purchase. They were very patient. No pushy, high-pressure sales. It's a very warm and friendly dealership! They treated me like a friend, not just a customer. That's what sets them apart from other dealerships. I highly recommend them....for both sales and service!

Everyone was very kind and polite especially for being 7:45 am. They were kind enough to give me a ride to work and dropped my Truck off to me at work when there work was complete. I was told to have our car at the dealership at 8:00 am. So, we took it to the dealership the night before. At 7:50 the next morning I received a call from Jim ( the service manager) who reported that my car was done. Talk about excellent service. These guys are outstanding ?

Working with Samantha Miceli during the financing process was a wonderful experience, we had some minor hiccups with the salesman’s errors however bringing this to her attention, she stepped in and made everything right! Happy to have dealt with someone so professional, swift and knowledgeable. Overall we are very happy with our new Jeep and I highly recommend Charlevoix Auto.

Most horrific experience ever. Placed an order for a new car with Greg 3 months ago, left a deposit and filled out paperwork. I was told I’d be reached out to, but never got reached out to. I called the dealership multiple times to get ahold of Greg, but never received a call back. Now I get a call from Matt that my car is in stating that Greg was fired and the timeframe, paperwork and deposit doesn’t matter anymore. The price literally went up $200 a month for a “LEASE”. The dealership wouldn’t take blame or responsibility and Matt said, “Can’t do anything about it.” I as expressed how upset I was, he also was getting upset and yelling at me. Literally the worst experience ever. I would never recommend anyone to this dealership, not even my worst enemies. Can’t understand how you do that to someone and try to take advantage of someone when their lease is almost up.

Ordered a car through Greg in July, I paid a deposit have gotten a quote and everything. I have been receiving updates on my car. The recent update states that my car has been built and shipped. Called the dealership and they are refusing to ship my car stating that I was quoted too low even though a paid a $500 deposit to lock in the price and have proof of everything. I personally never write reviews, but this experience is so awful I am shocked.

I was traveling from out of town and realized I needed an oil change. I called Charlevoix Auto, who was able to get my in while I was in town. They were a lifesaver, and they did a great job! Additionally, the staff took the time to explain to me how my vehicle was performing as they discussed my tire wear, oil life, breaks, etc. I was very impressed with my entire experience!

The sales person, Devon, did a great job. He was very informative and patient, allowing me to test drive several vehicles, before I chose the right one. Although there was a problem with the Torsion Converter, the service department fixed or replaced the part, and everything is working fine.

My experience was perfect. Erin handled everything over email. I live in metro Detroit and the new Equinox was delivered to my place of work. The easiest most hassle free car leasing experience I've had and I've leased quite a few over the years. I highly recommend Charlevoix Auto !!!

My salesman, Jeff Beauchamp did a great job keeping me posted as to the status of the vehicle I was purchasing and its' delivery to the dealership timing from the plant in Missouri. There appear to have been some transportation issues on GM's end getting the vehicle delivered to the dealership (originally scheduled to arrive 12/10/21, and delayed several times until it finally arrived on 1/26/22), but it was worth the wait (The truck is great!), and I was kept well informed of its' arrival status. My experience with Charlevoix Auto was excellent, and I will definitely do business with them again, as well as let family, friends and coworkers know how great they are to deal with!! This dealership is the definition of great customer service! Something very hard to find nowadays.

Everything was fine. I would give you 5 stars and 10 points but I didn't because: I have no idea if you rotated my tires or checked their wear and tear. At the Toyota dealership this would have been done as well as letting me know how my brakes looked for wear and tear. They ALSO ALWAYS gave me a coupon for a car wash.
