Their subsidiary, J and G Motors, sold me a car in March 2024 that had a completely rusted underside, including the frame, which cannot be fixed. My passengers and I are lucky we were not killed, as I drove the car for a number of months without being aware of the extent of the damage. Meineke in Greenfield were the ones who discovered the damage in November 2024, and even refused to charge me for an oil change because the mechanic felt so bad that I was sold a piece of junk. The manager of the dealership refused to speak to me when I reached out. Also, if the car was sold to me “As Is,” why is the box not checked on my contract? DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CON ARTISTS! Look at the attached photos for evidence.
Re. Athol Motors’ response:
The transmission was not out, it was the front right axle which broke; it was two weeks after the sale, not two months. The car was NOT put up on a lift to fix this but was put up on a jack, which was why the extent of the rust was not obvious. I told Athol Motors this; I am not sure why they are referencing it in their answer.
I would also like to ask the following question: Regardless of what *I* should or shouldn’t have done with the car, why was it on the lot for sale in the first place? Also, how many other cars are they trying to sell in this condition?
Another edit: Please note how nearly all of the positive reviews are one sentence long? This is most likely because they are fake—family and friends. For real reviews, please focus on the longer, very negative reviews.

Purchased a pre-owned car here and couldn’t be happier. They provided a full vehicle history, allowed a test drive, and didn’t pressure me into anything. The price was fair, and the car runs perfectly. Definitely a trustworthy dealership!
I’ll try to be as fair as possible. I purchased a vehicle here some time ago. I will list the positives and then the negatives.
Steve is a nice guy and will try to help you/accommodate you with pricing, budget and anything small you notice with the vehicle. He is also responsive.
For the negatives:
1. They are affiliated with the shop in fitchburg J&G -as much as they remove themselves from that dealer they trade vehicles back and forth and in their advertisement photography of vehicles for sale, they are pictured in either lot. J&G does not have a good reputation. It is the same general Manager
2. They do not check vehicles before they sell them. They expect you, likely a non-mechanic to discover issues with the vehicle and they will possibly rectify them before you purchase. That obviously is not fair because a normal consumer will likely miss things and older vehicles have very low lemon law warranties or none at all .
3. The first several reviews are fake on Google . There were numerous 5 star reviews and one of them had a photo of a Prius. Look at the landscape and other details of the reviews and if you can pick out the similarities and timing of them you will likely agree.
4. I purchased a vehicle and they claimed to change the oil. They claimed flints auto changed it. I started losing oil pressure and went to another mechanic two months later. I hardly drove the vehicle in these two months time. The mechanic stated it was bone dry. There no was sign of an oil leak - so either there is a serious transmission issue or the oil was not changed. I am out of the lemon law warranty and have no recourse. The check engine light goes on and off and has since shortly after purchasing the vehicle. I have put a few hundred dollars into investigating the problem but it is an older vehicle and I am trying to not dive too deep into it yet.
5. Bottom line - if you a purchase a vehicle from them they have no idea if something is wrong with it and will sell it to you .if they agree to get it inspected by an independent mechanic please do. There are some things that I agree are not their responsibility that some people complain about. Do your research on the vehicle itself, ask questions and run the carfax. Run the recalls, don’t get tired down to buying anything. There are millions of vehicles for sale.
If I could give a zero I would and I never even got to drive a vehicle. The salesman was not interested in helping us at all we totally waited our time didn't buy a thing poor service
DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM HERE!!! GM is incredibly unprofessional, ignores the Lemon Law within MA and blocks customers so they are unable to contact them regarding repairs that, by law, the dealership MUST PAY. Horribly run business!!
