I came here for a simple inspection, but I didn’t even get the chance to ask a single question before I was rudely kicked out. The staff member I dealt with was extremely disrespectful and dismissive. There’s no excuse for treating customers this way, especially when they’re just trying to get basic service. If you value being treated with respect and professionalism, I’d strongly recommend going elsewhere.

I had just moved to Boston a year ago and needed to get my car inspected quickly for DMV purposes. I found Frank’s and decided to come back for an oil change and asked them to take a look at the car. I felt super taken advantage of. They quoted me almost $200 to change 2 air filters. Both of which I got at the auto shop myself for $20ish each and installed in less than 5 min. One of my filters actually didn’t need to be changed, I still have the spare to this day. Right off the bat my trust was lost with them. It also felt as if they were trying to intimidate me into replacing my battery right then and there. They kept my car on until I came to get it because they said my battery was that bad, that if I left my car wouldn’t start again. I knew I needed a new battery but was quite confident it wasn’t dire like they said because my partner had charged my battery the night before. I went to auto zone two days later (after driving the car around) and bought a new battery and replaced it myself in less than 20min. The worst one was quoting me $950 to replace my brakes and pads, not including labor and tax. I went to WAR Automotive and for labor, tax, all brake pads and discs it was $945. Three years ago someone left a review saying they scammed women. After they misrepresented the state of my filters, tried to over charge me for 5min of work, and quoted me a crazy price for my brakes that didn’t include tax or labor - I confirm that even 3 years later they are the same.

Highly recommend Frank's Auto Repair. Billy took great care of my daughters car. Got us in right away, assessed and repaired the problem quickly for a fair price!

Very good and fast. Excellent customer service. They treated my daughter and I exceedingly well. I was really pleased with their service and the way they handled my daughter's situation. 5 stars. They may be a small shop but they're really pretty darn good!

I was looking for a reputable place for my daughter to have her car serviced and Frank's was highly recommended to me. They did not disappoint. Billy went above and beyond to squeeze her in even though they are extremely busy. Billy and his team are great and my daughter now has a reliable place to bring her car!

i’ve been bringing my mustang to franks auto for about 5 years now and would not trust anyone else with my car. billy and his team are honest, kind, hard-working and knowledgeable professionals. as a woman driving a v8 mustang, i’ve had many (male) mechanics try to swindle/upsell me and treat me like i don’t know anything about my own car. billy and his team are the exact opposite and treat me like a member of their extended family. i could not recommend them more highly!!

I've been a loyal customer since finding Frank's in 2016 - that's 4 cars serviced to date (Mercedes, Suburu, Dodge, Volvo). Fantastic, honest work. Won't go anywhere else.

This is a fine shop for getting a sticker, maybe some tire repair. On two occasions ive visited and paid for botched repair that led to me going to a dealer to do it correctly. This cost added about $2000 extra. Also i had my brakes done there and they never worked well even when new, yep and i rear ended some one because of it. Just have it done right the first time by professionals.

The service was excellent and i wasn't waiting long before getting the help that i needed. Tip: show up the earliest possible because their parking lot is small. Better if it is before they open.

Was greeted upon arrival and they took the vehicle in right away. They took their time and shortly thereafter, it was all done. Very friendly and easy to work with!! Will definitely use them again in the future.

From out of town and our Honda broke down on the Tobin Bridge. The tow truck took us to Frank's. Billy was wonderful, courteous and professional. We left the car with them and returned to Maine. They diagnosed the problem and made repairs in a timely manner. I would highly recommend.

Went there for a State Car Inspection 2 years in a row so far and had great experiences both times!! I didn't need to make an appointment. Just showed up early during the week and was done in under 15 mins. They were super nice and fast! Highly recommend!

I have taken two vehicles over the past couple of weeks. One complete breaks and battery change, The other, a "not ready" stopping an inspection. Fixed them both! Great service and prices.

In 2017 I moved from out of state to the Chelsea, MA, area and needed some specialty car body work done before the car could pass inspection. I called some local places, and they either had extremely expensive estimates or they never returned my call. As a female living here somewhat far from family, Frank's had good reviews online so I took a chance. Please note that they usually do NOT do car body work. They do mechanical work. Today I am reviewing them online because for the almost four years I have been here, they always offer consistently good advice, excellent and timely service at a reasonable price, and they have been respectful of both my old 26-year-old Honda and my much newer 3-year-old Toyota Prius. I made the mistake of going to a dealership with the newer vehicle because I was under a service plan. Not only did the dealership try to charge me for the fully covered maintenance when they should not have, the dealership also tried to charge for updating the car GPS, which they did not do! We learned to stick with Frank's (in Chelsea). They're worth it. And no, they did not pay me to write this.

I’m semi new to this area. It has been so hard to find a reliable place to get any work I’ve needed on my car. I cannot stress this enough, the guys at Frank’s are so incredibly kind and professional. No BS these guys are quick and reliable and I haven’t been around professionals who care as much as at Frank’s. Go here I’m not kidding. I’m only 21 and totally new to getting car service.

Great to deal with. Friendly and knowledgeable. After dealing with a corporate vehicle that sensors wouldn't become "ready" for emissions inspection for almost a year, they helped me identify the cause (after repeated trips to the dealership and other inspection centers had not even helped). It turned out to be the fleet management company's portable telimatics device plugged into the OBD port that had caused the issues all along, but noone else had been able to suspect it.

Exceptional service, could not have been more convenient and easy. Great value for a job well done. I work next door but live far away and I needed an oil change and couldn’t wait until the following week. I asked my co-workers for a recommendation and there were multiple guys who said to go to Frank’s, that they have been there before and the service was great, reliable and sometimes they even drive the car over since we are neighbors. I have my usual mechanic back home but I may continue to get my services completed here because it is so convenient to where I work. I also called on a Wednesday before closing to see if they could get me in the next day and they made the accommodations while other shops were telling me they were booked a week or so out. Just got an inspection. There were about 5 people in line waiting for inspections. They kept it moving pretty quickly and efficiently so I wasn't waiting too long. They were very friendly. I'd come back if I needed any repairs.

Had a flat tire, drive by his business everyday from work, only resort. Go in, Frank ask How he can assist me? Flat tire, says the guy will be right with you, within seconds, the man takes my car in shop and does his thing. First off, I have never gone to a place where if you don’t have an appt. they tell you a few hrs at least, so I was grateful and amazed they took me right away! Second, it was done in like 15/20 mins, plugged the hole, comes to tell me his professional advice, I had my card out to pay, he says you don’t need to pay, he says you had a bad situation and I helped you out!! Well, I cried that a person I never did business with not only didn’t charge me an arm and a leg, but didn’t charge me at all!!! That’s never happened to me in my young 50 something years!! Such kindness and compassion! I think I found my new mechanic!! Thank you Frank and crew that were professional and courteous!! #humankind

Excellent mechanics who are friendly, genuine, and knowledgeable! I’ve been here quite a few times recently dealing with various issues with my older Subaru, and I have had a great experience each time. Above all, they’re not trying to rip you off, and unlike other mechanics, they will give really good advice to help you save on unnecessary costs. I highly recommend this team for all things auto, and will continue to be a returning customer. Thanks guys!

I have been going to Frank's Auto for over 20 years. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my vehicles. No matter how busy the shop is Frank always makes the time to get you in as soon as possible. Frank and his entire staff are extremely friendly knowledgeable and take excellent care of the customer. Thank you Frank for always being the best!

All I have to say is, do not go here for any exhaust repairs. They are a rip-off. Go to one of the many Lou's Custom Exhaust locations instead. There are ones in Lynn and Medford and it should be worth the trip. In 2015, I had an audible exhaust hole somewhere and my check-engine light went on a result. On 3 Dec 2015 I got my flex pipe replaced here for $824. I got a proposal at Reggie's in Chelsea first, and the price was similar. So I thought, this is what it costs for this sort of job and there is nothing I can do. I mean, I'm not an expert at this stuff and if two places give me a similar quote then I assume it's about right. Well, 2020 comes around and the flex pipe is flaking out.... again! I went to Lou's in Lynn and they asked, who did this job? They put in a low-grade "plain steel" pipe instead of a stainless steel section. For $824. And this is why it rusted so badly in less than 4 years. Unbelievable rip-off! Lou's replaced the flex pipe AND put in a new stainless steel muffler for $475. All stainless steel, parts and labor and tax. This will likely last me for ten years or more instead of four, and at about half the cost. Well congratulations, Frank's, you made a good profit from me. You are only getting 2 stars instead of one because, well, it did indeed last 4 years so that's something right? In return, you get a customer who is rightfully putting you down online and warning others to stay away. I posted the same things to Yelp so that even more people know. Now ask yourself, is it worth the bad publicity and will you do something to make it right?

Literally the worst people I’ve ever met. There is barely any signage in this run-down dump of a garage, and no white lines showing where to park in what they consider a parking lot. I leave my car for 2 minutes to go in and talk to someone. I go in and no one greets me, one older man ignores me. I sit and wait patiently until I ask if I should check in or talk to anyone, he tells me to wait, and to move my car to a different spot If its not perpendicular with the building. I go out to move it and the guy doing inspections is there and tells me he won’t do my inspection because I was parked the wrong way. I was not greeted, not informed and had never been there and he refused service because I made a simple non-harmful mistake. Id give less than one star if I could.

I initially went to a different repair shop for my annual inspection, but the guy had an issue and referred me to Frank's. Owned and operated by the founder's son, this auto shop is fantastic. They went above and beyond my expectations for service and treatment when I requested a few things to be looked at. I had only been in Boston for 3 days and has already decided who'd I be using for my auto repairs until my next relocation.

Such excellent service! They have gone above and beyond every time I've come- throwing in extra checks and services at no cost to make sure everything is even better than expected. Great work on brakes at a much cheaper price than the Toyota dealership, and solid recommendations for taking care of my car.
