The friends I made as a child at Camp Avoda are the same friends that I have and can count on today. To call these people my friends is an understatement, they are my family. I am proud to say that my 2 boys currently attend Avoda and are building the same types of relationships and learning the same lessons I did. Avoda is an amazing place that I am proud to call my second home.
Our son has been going here for 6 summers and loves it. He counts down the days until camp every year. some of his best friends are from camp and he hangs with them all year round. This is truly his home away from home and the best possible place for him to be when he isn't home with us.
Started at Camp Avoda in 1984 and spent the next 10 summers at the most incredible place on earth. Created life long memories along with life long friends. My son is now entering his 6th year at Avoda and is enjoying the same great experiences. Im also THRILLED to send him to a place where he can just be a kid enjoying summer with his best friends and NO SCREEN TIME for 2 months!!!!
I came to Avoda in bunk 14 (the last year as a camper) which could have been a difficult situation given that everyone knew each other. It was a great experience. I was welcomed by the campers and staff and had a truly memorable summer for all the right reasons. The sports aspect was awesome standard games and amazing Avoda specific events. The campground itself is well kept and rustic yet full of various amenities and of course there is color war and lake tispaquin. I still maintain friendships 30yrs later.
I started at Camp Avoda in 1974, and spent the 13 best summers of my life there. The friends I made at Avoda were the guys in my wedding party, and are my life long friends to this very day. Avoda taught me leadership, respect, and the most important values I have today. I don't know what I would be like if not for my years at Avoda and the friends I made there.
Avoda is like a second home. I spent 11 amazing summers at Camp Avoda and it has shaped me into the man I am today. I met so many great people there, many of whom I'm still great friends with today. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Camp Avoda gave me the confidence as a young man to let my personality out, to try new things, and make lifelong friends. Now as a grown man my friends from there, from all different eras, are my very best friends and we all share a unique camaraderie. Professionally, having these friends has also been life changing.
Camp Avoda literally changed my life. I spent every summer at Avoda from age 8 until age 22, starting as one of the youngest campers and leaving as one of the oldest counselors. Now I am old enough to have two kids of my own and my closest friends are still my Avoda bunkmates. Every summer I spent at camp was a blast, and many of my fondest memories are from those summers. But the lifelong friendships I built while at camp and the Avoda community that I will forever be a part of are what I will cherish the most from my time at Avoda.
I have a lifelong relationship with Avoda. My experiences as a camper taught me so much, including: leadership, how to compete on the athletic field, and how to have fun with just about everything. As a councillor I learned how to take ownership of jobs and responsibilities. Best of all...I made a large number of life-long friends with whom I still see every week!
An amazing place where i met my best friends over 30 years ago and we are still as tight as ever! The facility is constantly being updated with improvements! My nephew is a current camper and loves AVODA! We bleed Blue & White! I highly recommend Camp Avoda!!!!! Best Camp on the East Coast..... :)
I made friends for life ! Really. I'm 61 and am still close with those that were in my bunk and we live all over the country. Great memories and the best of friends that I would consider my brothers. I'm an only child and was being raised by my single mom. She could not have sent me to a better place !
This is a very good camp. My brother has been going there for 5 years now. The best thing they don't allow internet devices. They keep kids entertained all the time. They have a family day when they let you visit the camp and enjoy all the activities available. My favorite things are the lake activities. You can get use kayak, pedal board, boats, and the most exciting is the tubing.
Also, food is very good and kosher.
