Too expensive. They charged me over $1100 to replace the alternator in my 2005 BMW. I checked with other mechanics in the area that told me that this should cost between $700 - $900 with the variance due to slightly different alternator types used by BMW. I was concerned that my alternator was so close to dying that I wouldn't make it to another mechanic or I would have declined to have this repair done at this price. My brother is a mechanic and I don't mind paying a fair price so that somebody can make a profit but I don't like being taken advantage of.

One of my car’s had a dead battery. I thought it was the alternator. I had it towed to this shop. The mechanics, Eddie, was super helpful and called me almost immediately to let me know that it was in fact a corroded battery. He didn’t beat around the bush. He kept it very open about cost (which was fairly priced), and within a few hours of having my car towed to their shop, the car was fixed and we were back on our way. Will definitely recommend this shop to friends and neighbors and use them for future

AAA towed me here after I broke down mid-roadtrip. Danny and the team worked with me on getting the repair done in a timely way, and for a very reasonable price. Really appreciate their friendly staff and straightforward communication

Great price, great service, great turnaround, great guys. Eddie was incredibly informative in solving the issues with my car and got ahold of the tired I needed quickly and at a phenomenal price. Some of the best auto service I've received and I'll be making them my regular mechanic now that I know.

I can’t say enough good things about River Road Auto Services. I was out on my motorcycle and ran into an issue with a stuck drain. Even though they don’t service bikes, Eddie stopped what he was doing to help me out. He took the time to fix the problem, explained what was going on, and made sure I was good to go before I left. When I tried to pay him for his time, he refused. That kind of kindness and professionalism is rare these days. The staff here are not only knowledgeable but genuinely care about helping people. I’m really grateful for the help and highly recommend them to anyone in need of auto services.

For starters, his shop is right around the corner from Somerset where my boyfriend lives—super convenient. He’s also incredibly friendly. One day I was sitting in my car waiting while my boyfriend dropped something off, and Danny actually came over just to say hi to me. That’s not just customer service—that’s neighborly charm (and honestly, more than I get from some of my neighbors!). He’s skilled, reliable, and always goes the extra mile to take care of his customers. You can tell he genuinely cares about people, not just cars—which is rare enough that it deserves a parade… or at least a glowing review. Danny has my full endorsement. What great , quick and honest place!! We were in vacantion and our pickup truck started to make a squeaking noise while driving. We had to wait to monday morning. They took us without appointement, found the problem and fixed it really quick. Thank you guys for the great services ;)

I have been bringing my cars to them for over 15 years and wouldn't take my car anywhere else. Both Bob and Danny are the absolute BEST when it comes to customer service and knowing what needs to be done for adaquately servicing your car. They also employ excellent mechanics. This is definitely the place to bring your car for the very best in keeping it running smoothly!

My daughter had a tire blow on her 1st car with no spare. The car was towed here ona recommendation. Within 24 hours, she is back on the road with a new tire and oil change. The price was great too. Highly recommend

They no longer perform routine oil changes...that is, unless you agree to drop your car off in the morning and leave it there all day, with a vague promise of, "We'll get to it before the end of the day." They also won't let you set an appointment, stating "We tried that before and it doesn't work." lol what ?

Danny and his team are exceptional. They are transparent, use excellent parts/materials and provide a great price for the quality workmanship. Highly recommend without hesitation. If I don't have time to work on my own car, I bring it to Danny and his team and have never questioned the decision. Easy five star for one of the best auto shops around.

I have brought a couple different cars to RR Auto Services for different, generally minor needs. They are quick and communicative, and very fair and honest. Glad to work with Danny and the crew.

I took my car to River Road after another mechanic failed my state inspection saying I needed new brakes. That same mechanic (AMPM Auto in Bethesda) quoted me $1300 to repair the brakes. The GM dealer was $900, and River Road gave me an est. of $700 so I took it there. Danny at R.R. called me and said there was nothing wrong with my brakes and that he couldn't in good conscience charge me for a brake job I didn't need. I'll be back to RR in the future! Chose this auto service from a postcard they mailed plus positive reviews and referrals — all accurate. Very pleased with the prompt, thorough 60,000 mile maintenance/service. Review of work and cost estimate was thoughtfully given and clearly communicated. Instantly became our go-to for auto repair.

Had a minor issue with my coolant that Danny took care of in minutes. New to the area but my family will use use River Road auto moving forward because he was honest, knowledgeable, and even popped to hood to explain how the car works. Couldn’t be more impressed.

I came here for two issues about a month a part. First, I needed the breaks on my car replaced; second, I needed a new battery and air flow censor. In both instances, the turnaround time was extremely quick and my car was repaired within one business day. The customer service was great and Danny was very helpful. While you could probably save some money traveling a bit farther away from DC, many will find the premium worth it for the quality of service. I would absolute recommend River Road Auto Services for vehicle repairs.

I feel particularly blessed that this place is only a half-mile from my home. The service is excellent, and has always been completed on the same day, even when I have not had an appointment. And, of course, the fact that I can drop the car off and just walk home and back is icing on the cake! I will always trust River Road Auto Services to do all of my auto maintenance and repair work.

I have been going to River Road Auto for many years. I have a Ford Escape The service is always high quality, personal, and professional. Recently, I took my car for an oil change during the pandemic. I sat across the driveway on the grass in a safe place while they serviced the car. I felt safe. I highly recommend River Road Auto.

My usual mechanics for my 1988 Jeep went out of business during the pandemic, so when I failed the DC Inspection, I was on the hunt for a new mechanic. I got turned down by a number of prominent auto service providers, because they didn't know how to tune a carburetor. When I took my Jeep to River Road Auto Service, they improved the emissions performance and enabled me to get a waiver approval of the inspection, as well as oil change and diagnostics, all in one day. They were very competent, professional and quick. I was very pleased.

My daughter and I were in Chevy Chase for a medical appt. We live almost 2 hours away. During the last half of our drive my brakes began locking and my car was hard to control. I found River Road on the internet, called and spoke to Danny. I explained my situation and he waited over 2 hours until we were done our appt to check out my car. He was so helpful. He kept my car overnight and fixed the brakes. It was done quickly and efficiently. I can’t say enough about his professionalism and honesty. If I didn’t live so far away, I would give him my repeat business for any car repairs or maintenance I needed.

I had only used their free tire air and gas prior to this, but now I asked for oil change and lube and tire rotation. I could not be more pleased. It was afternoon and Danny said to call for a time slot the next morning. He gave it then and when I arrived on time, they immediately began working on my car. I could not be more pleased with their service and friendliness!

Fast, honest, fair work. Total pros, and no BS. I have used them for years, and can't imagine taking my car anywhere else. Second review....As always, a great job done by the crew at River Road Auto Service (Don't confuse them with River Road Auto Haus....PLEASE don't...) They did the work quickly, and with great customer service. They even recommended against doing a filter change I asked for because the filter was still clean instead of ripping me off for service I didn't need. I love these guys!
