Always one of my go-to thrift spots! Amazing items for incredible deals (they carry luxury pieces, as well!) & always a friendly & welcoming staff. I can count on continuously finding killer items from my fave brands (their FP section is a hidden gem). ? One of the best UC’s out there!

This store has a great selection although it’s somewhat pricey for used clothes and some of the items have obvious flaws, like pulled threads and pilling. I’ve sold here multiple times and have had no issues. But I’m mainly writing because I had a weird and slightly humiliating experience checking out today. I brought my own bag and was bagging my clothes as they were scanned and detagged to try to help the staff as it was busy. The staff member scanning was joking with the people before me and then the person waiting after me, so I initially thought they were joking when they said to me “ma’am, are you trying to steal those clothes? You haven’t paid yet” as if I didn’t know that … but then they made a hurried clarifying comment that made me think they weren’t joking after all. I’ve never had a smile drop so fast off my face. It made me feel like I needed to get out of there as fast as possible (after paying of course). I don’t know if I’ll be back because of how uncomfortable their accusation made me feel.

This was my first time visiting this store. While I was walking around I noticed a Kate Spade cross body bag that my daughter may like. The cashier at the counter, Yuka, was very pleasant. He not only greeted me when I stepped to the counter, but he asked if I had ever been there before. Then informed me that if I gave my phone number then I’d be able to return the purse if I needed to do so. He carried on small talk with me, complimenting me on my nails, while ringing me up the entire time. He was also very helpful answering the questions I had about the process of selling clothes to them in the future.

Prices are a little high for second hand and they REALLY low ball anything you’re there to sell to them, but I always find something to take home that I love and the staff is really great. Especially Yuko.

The clothes are nice enough, but do not get gifts for others here. The return policy is very stringent so you better know what they like. I got a jacket for Christmas that did not quite fit, but I could not exchange it because of the thirty day window had closed. I had tried taking it to a different uptown cheapskate during the thirty day window, but they are on different systems and cannot exchange between stores. Tags and everything were still on it, but they could not make an exception when I asked at the original store. I was given this item as a gift. These services and disclaimers are helpful if you are getting an item for yourself, but it is not helpful for gifts. This is why my review says nice enough clothes if you are getting it for yourself, but not good for gifts.

What was supposed to be a stop in, ended up being a shopping day. The staff was soo nice and helpful with all of my questions. The owner was extremely nice as well. The store itself is clean with plenty of options. I'll be back again!! :)

Very, very disappointed. My wife has been a frequent seller at the Uptown Cheapskate in Timonium since 2015. After recently moving to Ellicott City, this was the first time we visited the location here. Ahead of our visit, my wife called the store and checked that they were receiving donations and what bins or storage we were allowed to bring in. Today, we had carefully prepared several bins in accordance with the guidance we heard over the phone. When my wife and I walked in, we were pretty quickly served by a girl at the front. We checked in, and were then told that we needed to part out our items from the bins to make them all fit. After fumbling around with a few extra bags they gave us from behind the counter, the girl's attitude changed to a bit snarkier. She pretty rudely snapped at us that next time we'd need to ensure no items were overflowing from the bins. Sure, that would have been great info for us to have before coming in, and part of the reason we'd called... After coming back an hour later (really fast service! I'd have been glad to wait a few days, honestly), we were told that they liked 36 pieces of our clothes and that the rest couldn't be purchased, but that $105 dollars was our total for today. A pretty sweet bounty. Unfortunately, when arriving at the store, they informed us that donations were full for the day so we'd have to take everything home. And that one of our items needed to be authenticated. After inquiring more, they shared that one A Bathing Ape sweater would need to be authenticated and that it would cost us $15. Thankfully, of our $15, we could borrow against the $18 we would potentially get... So, a total profit of $3, for them to authenticate something FOR THEM. No chance. So we were pretty sloppily handed our three bins of clothes that somehow looked messier than when we arrived. After taking a quick peek over some of the items, we saw really nice items still sitting in the bin that went unpurchased. We saw Adidas Ultraboost, Nike Air Force 1, and a Baggu purse to say the least. What was purchased was much more blasé, being some SHEIN clothes, a dirty and ripped pair of Vans Old Skool, and a few GILDAN tees from Costco. I'm going to be honest, between the audacious and disrespectful service, the claustrophobic layout of the store, and the ineptitude and unprofessional conduct of the store's staff, I don't feel comfortable returning to this location again. As patrons of Uptown Cheapskate for years, we're sticking to the Timonium location.

This place sucks. Especially if you have anything nicer than junk. I left this comment on their Instagram but they blocked me. Will never return here. Bought in 3 Canada goose jackets, Prada, Gucci, etc. was offered 90 dollars total and asked to wait in the store while they took a hour to formulate that offer. They have no seating arrangements, store is sloppy and products are filthy and dirty. This place sucks!!! Go to DG reserve in Towson mall, they gave me 450 for the same items this place offered 90 dollars for. This place is a junk hole and the customer service is horrific. Buy a bench so people can sit cheapos!!! Would leave a 0 star if I could. Go to DG reserve instead if you have anything decent.

This was my first time at Uptown. I arrived at 10 and was out by 10:35. There were two people ahead of me. The store is clean and organized. The cashiers are helpful in answering questions for any newbies. I browsed the store while I waited. The store had a seemingly good selection. Store items appeared gently used as expected and in good quality. They do not accept wedding dresses or children’s clothing. They were interested in 4 items for which I received $16.

Some of the staff have this Passive Aggressive manner towards customers. If they aren’t used to all types of people they definitely shouldn’t be on the front line working with customers. Smiling & good greeting to some customers & fake smiling with other customers. You can feel the unfriendliness & they talk about customers when they turn their backs. No professionalism. If the owner has heard some of same complaints more than once then I feel like it’s a reflection of management. They could take some notes from the employees @ Chick-fil-A, all employees always have A1 service,or give them more training on Customer Service Skills. My family & friends don’t waste our time. We will never Patronize this place we walked out.

The ladies are very kind and sweet. I love coming because of their patience and professionalism. They have a great selection of cloth and miscellaneous items as well. Come check it out

Today was my first visit into the store. My daughter saw it on Instagram and wanted to go for workout clothes. It was such a blessing to see my daughter so happy to see all her favorite brands like Lulu, Nike Gym Shark all in one store some with new tags without having to shop all day going to the different stores. I didn’t know what to expect with how much things cost anymore, but the prices were a bargain for what she got.

I feel like I robbed the place. Under Armour sneakers slightly worn at 60% off. I walked out paying less than 20 bucks and they feel great.

Good store overall but they have to do better on the sellers cash back value. Tried to give me $70 for three pairs of Yeezy’s that had a store value of $260. That just seems like a low ball, so I kept them.

A higher end thrift store and I always support the concept of recycling clothing. Unfortunately, like many stores, if your size is XS, you will rarely find adult clothes to fit you. I don't like the fact that they don't have boys' sizes and they don't allow restroom access.

I went today to the Ellicott City location. Went last winter and bought some tall tan Ugg boots with three bows in the back, haven’t been back since. And WOW I bought two pair of pants for my 17 year old son who wears a uniform to school. A pair of J Crew khakis, $15.99. Brand new they’re $98. A pair of Adidas golf pants in khaki, not sure how much new but more than the $13.99 I paid. For my 12 year old, a sports bra from Atheleta, retails $49, paid $12.99. And for me… A magenta colored Patagonia jacket, the Nano Puff. Retail price is $229, I paid $54.99!! Literally nothing wrong with it, nothing. They have Nike Air Jordan sneakers for men, saw a pair my other son would love but they were a 10 and he’s 10.5..they looked like they were worn maybe once or twice, zero creases, $54.99. This year my kids will be getting all clothes from here for sure. You get so much more for your money, and since there is not a thing except eggs that are cheaper than last year I’m cool with consignment. And ladies, their purses, OMG. This store is amazing. The dude who checked me out was nice and polite and funny, not at all standoffish. Love everything about this place. Let me add that it’s so well organized. It’s all by size and then by color. Brilliant.

This location was really well organized, and selling was seamless. I've sold with UC locations up and down the East Coast, so I know the deal with the offer percentage, and wasn't surprised to get offered $33 for 7 items. They also had some great sales running! I would also like to shout out Yuka-- he was great! He was friendly and knowledgeable, and really made my time in-store pleasant and fun. Overall, I would recommend this location for shopping and buying.

If you're looking to sell, I'm warning you now they will lowball you the lowest possible price. Had over 5 Brand new pair of shoes and I barely got 50$. if you dont wanna go to a place where they rob you and smile in your face while doing it , sell your stuff on Depop

If you expect clear communication and honesty, I recommend avoiding this location. I’ve sold to Uptown Cheapskate before, but the Ellicott City location is officially the most disappointing. I dropped off my items around 11AM and waited for an update to stop by within an hour (my given estimated time of appraisal completion when I asked) or before 7PM. No response ever came, so I called at 3PM and was told my items were actively being appraised throughout the day and that I should just wait for a text or email instead of stopping by like I was initially told to do so. One day later and I still had no communication. When I finally called, I was told they didn’t take anything. I know how Uptown Cheapskate works and am completely fine with donations. However, what was extremely disappointing in this situation was how the employee on the phone blatantly lied repeatedly and said they had supposedly left me a text and voicemail… yet absolutely nothing was on my phone. When I questioned this, they brushed it off as a “miscommunication” with a halfhearted apology. The whole process was frustrating, dishonest, and a complete waste of time. Their policies and customer service are nowhere near the level of other Uptown Cheapskate locations.

This was my first visit to this Uptown Cheapskate location and I was very impressed! The store was clean, well-organized, and full of options at great prices. The staff was welcoming and made the shopping experience easy and enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back!

Always have a great experience shopping and selling at this location! The team is always friendly and knowledgeable; the inventory is well curated and trendy with a great selection of both modern and vintage styles!

I have mixed feelings about this store. Like I want to love it, but it's really hit or miss. The employees are all nice and the store is very clean and well-organized. Most items here are also in great quality. Shopping is a pleasant experience. However, some things seem a bit pricey for what they are and selling can be a pain. The wait can be super long (2+ hours) even on weekdays in the morning or early afternoon, and they don't have many places for you to wait or sit (which really sucks if you're mobility restricted or disabled and it's hard to stand). I know sometimes businesses just don't design things for disabled folks, but it would be nice if this were taken into account (and if able-bodied people didn't always hog the only two chairs). It can also be random what they decide to buy. But overall, it's worth a visit. Like some days it's a 4 for me, others a 3 (wish google let you do a 3.5 star review).

I made the best find I’ve ever made in a thrift store here at Uptown Cheapstake. Authentic Prada Cloudbust Thunder shoes in mint condition. These go for over $1,200 and are selling for over 2k now if authentic. The price was an absolute steal. I’ll keep coming back to visit Ellicott City from Arlington because WOW. 3 compliments already in a week ! Thank you Ellicott City team!

This is a great concept 2nd hand shop for people to cycle their gently used name brand items. At the same time to support local business. The store is very well organized and clean. ?? Staff were efficient given the amount of sellers they have to deal with on the daily basis. They do have a good selections of clothing, shoes and dresses. ?? Selections of handbags are not ao much. ?? Pricing of some clothing are not very good, for instance some Lululemon items and basketball shoes. For sellers, the wait can be long. They tell you 45min-1hr, but can take up to close to 2hr. ? And they tend to lowball the bags, ??not really a good place to sell your high-end handbags, hence they don’t have much good selections. Sellers can get Better prices to sell via one of the online platforms. Also be aware, they only take in 2 bags per person & they don’t take tall boots. @WineDinenVacay definitely recommend this place to check out & always compare prices +quality when shop ?

One of the most clean and organized stores ever! It even smells great inside haha! You can shop or bring in some clothes to sell. The ladies were incredibly nice and explained the process. You don't even need an appointment to sell. Great selection of clothes for women and great prices. They actually did have a little section for men. They also have accessories, shoes, handbags and the cutest jewelry pieces. Def worth the stop by and see what you can find!

It says all your favorite brands at affordable prices. That's true, if your favorite brands come from a big box store like target or walmart. Name brand stuff (nike, Ugg, etc) was only about 60 to 50 percent of OP, which I guess if that's what you looking for is not bad. I gawked at the $15 used ties and the $15 used Lululemon headband, which was almost more expensive then if you had bought it new. Will probably just stick to thrifting.
