My Cummins 7kw commercial gas powered generator stopped working due to a bad oil leak, whiched caused a lot of smoke and overheating. I scheduled an appointment a month after the incident, which was the soonest they could look at it. I brought it in, and left it. They said it was a bad oil filter, and replaced the oil filter. They failed to clean the spilled oil on the engine, so it was still a mess. I wiped to the best of my ability and went to use the generator again. 10 minutes in, I went outside and noticed a lot of smoke and overheating, again. At this point, I didn't trust Cummins, so I took it to my small engine guy. Come to find out, as my mechanic was cleaning all the oil off the engine, he noticed a leak coming from an engine gasket, which I honestly told the Cummins people.thst the leak was definitely coming from somewhere besides the oil filter; but they "tested it for 15 minutes with no issues".
I called Cummins to get some information on a resolution to the issue; it is 5 years old, and 560 hours. Their warranty is 3 year, 2000 hours. All regular maintenance done on it. After 20 minutes on the phone, 4 transfers at the 1800 level, trying to get ahold of the Scarborough office, I got through. The woman i talked to was nice, and she said they would call back tomorrow, since it was the end of the day. They never called back. She did say to call back if they didn't call, but that shouldn't be my responsibility, and it takes 20 minutes to get through in the first place. I need my generator fixed, as it is critical to my business, so I am not dealing with Cummins anymore, and gave my small engine guy the green light to fix what he has diagnosed on it.
As soon as this engine really kicks the bucket, I'm ripping it out and putting a Honda in.
I can't tell you how grateful I am to Bill and Nick who went out of their way to help us. We were traveling from Northern Maine to Arizona when we noticed a leak in our engine. I called Monday morning and even though they were very busy, agreed to take a look. They fixed my problem and we were on our way. They could have told us to come back at a scheduled time later in the week, but the fact that they took care of us at time of distress says a lot about this fine establishment and the folks who work there. BRAVO and thank you very much...
Took my motorhome to their shop last week and had a enjoyable time talking with the service rep. and the technicians about issues I had. Did great work and would highly recommend them needing work done on a Cummins engine. Definitely will be a repeat customer.
Just had my 44ft 5th wheel camper Generator fixed there , had to replace the fuel pump in the Onan generator under warranty ,great people to deal with , tech was very knowledgeable as well .

Bill and crew are fantastic, efficient, and generous. On our first trip to Maine, traveling in an RV, we lost power to the entire coach. While waiting to get into an RV service repair shop (long wait list), we were sent to Cummins to look at the generator. The problem was diagnosed, fixed, and we were sent on our way, with power restored. If nothing else, this is the one amazing memory I'll forever keep of Maine. I honestly cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond (looking at our battery, too). Thank you!
Diagnosed our generator issue. After checking things out they found a bad ground wire. They fixed it up and now it works great! Bill and the tech were both very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend their services.
The staff was incredibly accommodating! Called on a Friday afternoon regarding my class A motorhome after it had been at the RV service center for 4 days and they had said they could take care of the situation… well, at 2p on a Friday they tell me they can’t and I was scheduled to leave on a 7 week trip on Tuesday. The staff at Cummins not only said bring my bus right over. They allowed me to email they the error message so they could get started researching it before I got there. They had my bus fixed and ready for the road by 8 am Monday morning, and then told me the issue was fully covered by the warranty. Super nice, friendly, accommodating. Highly recommend!
Super nice staff. Had issue with my aftertreatment system on my truck. They got it right in figured the problem within 40 minutes ordered the part which I surprised they found 1 and had it fixed total time 4 hrs. Super awsomes people here. Great job and service. Thank you.
