My car was totaled in an accident and it took a long time to get everything in order with the police and insurance and they were patient and didn't charge me for storage. They were great to me when I was down and out. I appreciate that
I dropped my smashed SUV off the day of my appointment picked up my upgraded rental car from enterprise. The insurance estimate was low (of course) but it wasn't my problem, they made sure every piece needed was replaced right down to the proper plastic clips on trim. The paint was perfect exactly like factory. I got a call, dropped off my rental there and was back in my vehicle.
My son was in a car accident at 8AM on a Monday morning on his way to school. We had the police call a tow truck. The tow truck came from Wyman’s Auto Body. I had them take the vehicle back tow their shop as we have had work done there before. We had an estimate done and are choosing not to do the work because it would cost more than it is worth.
On the estimate the charges is $350 for the tow. The only reason it had to be towed is it was leaking coolant. What did this driver do for $350 dollars, pulled up drove our car on his flatbed, chalked the tired and drove off the 2 miles back to Wyman’s.
It is outrageous that they are charging $350 for the tow and they are not being forthcoming as to why the tow is this much. I will never do business here again.
This IS the place to go for fair, helpful, detailed body work. Ladies, talk to Jenn. This place is about cars, and Jenn is brilliant, kind and thoughtful. Matt was super helpful with giving me all the details I needed to take the next steps in car repair. All my questions were explained with patience and respect. If you have an old car that needs some love and repair, I definitely recommend here.
On October 1st, 2020 I dropped off my 26 year old Miata at Wyman’s Auto Body in Gorham for a complete paint job. The car is in good mechanical and structural shape, but the paint was mostly original and faded. I selected Wyman’s to do the job because of their reputation for quality and customer satisfaction. When bringing the car in for the quote, I made sure they were aware of the need to be careful if removing/installing the convertible top in order to not damage the rain rails or other components that keep water from entering the vehicle.
I was notified on Tuesday, November 3rd that the job was complete and the car ready for pickup. While I thought that this represented an excessive amount of time to complete the project, I was more interested in quality than a quick turnaround, especially since the car is not a daily driver. I visited the shop, paid the balance of the bill ,took a look at the car, and made arrangements to have it hauled home on their flatbed. The paint looked good and I was pleased.
The car was dropped off on Wednesday, November 4th as promised and I parked it in the shelter that was installed in August, when I decided to have it painted. Prior to the installation of the shelter, the car sat outside year-round during the 6+ years of my ownership.
I hoped to be able to drive the car the next day (Thursday) and I went out in the morning to make sure the lights, turn signals, brake light, etc. were still working. I also opened the trunk to check inside and found two inches+ of water sitting in the well. I released the trunk lid to reach inside and move items sitting in the water, and when doing so, it fell on my head. Prior to the Wyman’s work, the trunk did not leak and the lid stayed up when opened. While I am not sure what was done to cause the problem with the trunk lid balance springs, my guess is that a water leak developed because the convertible top drainage system was damaged or incorrectly installed. The water probably came from either rain or from washing the car during the post paint detail process. There was a puddle of water sitting in the spare tire wheel indicating that the water came in from above on the right side of the trunk.
I called Wyman’s, explained the situation, and told them I wanted the car picked up and fixed. I was told they would get back with me. Having not heard back the next morning (Friday), I called again and requested an in-person meeting with the owner to discuss my complaints and lack of a response. I was told they would get back with me. Later in the day, I found a voice message advising that they would be able to pick up the car and check the problems next Wednesday.
Neither of these known problems would have been difficult to find for a competent person paying even a moderate amount of attention to detail. And, Wyman’s lack of concern and response to these problems is completely unacceptable. After considering these and the fact that additional damage more difficult to find might have also been done, I decided that I did not want them touching my car again. I will have the repairs made and damage check done by folks that I can trust.
My experience with Wyman’s was very unpleasant. I hope that in telling my story, others might not have to repeat my mistake of selecting them for paint/body work.
I have used Wyman's Auto for years. The Wyman family run an excellent business. I have had vehicles that were in accidents, and I only used Wyman's to fix my cars. The professionals here are very picky and only provide excellent quality service. I have never had a bad experience in my repairs and the quotes have been extremely fair and competitive against other repair shops. The last time I called my Allstate Insurance agent she asked where I got an estimate, and I told her Wyman's in Gorham. She said "Oh you went to see Joe I see" and we both started to laugh. I told her "I'm guessing you've never heard of him!" Highly recommended family business, you will certainly not be disappointed!
Have to give a shout out to Wyman's Auto Body in Gorham. I bought my 08 Subaru Impreza WRX STI back in August of last year and found out pretty quickly the windshield had been replaced in the past, and done quite poorly. There was slight bubbling around the entire winshield, probably from scrapping out the old seal, and it would leak in heavy rain.
I shopped around a bit and ended up taking it to these guys. Turnaround time was good, even considering I missed my appointment entirely and had to leave it with them to complete in their spare time. When I asked about how long it would take because I wanted to arrange rides, they handed me the keys to a loaner, no questions asked, 100% free. (a quick google search shows a 7 day rental for a small car at $200).
Not only was their quote one of the best I got, they were very accurate and charged me what they originally quoted.
Great overall experience taking my car to get repaired. Fast service, and low prices for the same work you would get at x2 the cost. Overall job went quick, would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to have body work done .
