I recently had the opportunity to work with MBR on the demolition of a property in Evanston. This was the second time I have hired MBR to demolish a property for me. In both instances, they were very attentive and responsive to my requests. MBR worked closely with me on the budget and timeline, and ultimately on the execution of the work. Their employees were very professional, and I enjoyed working with them. In both instances, the work was done in a timely manner. I look forward to continuing to work with MBR in the future and developing a long-term relationship with them.

We hired MBR to tear down an old house, remove the slab, and backfill the hole with dirt. They tore the house down, didn't remove the slab, and to make it worse backfilled with construction debris. This breach of contract cost us $15,000 to fix the problem they created. When I reached out to Joel about the problem, he agreed they messed up, then refused to fix it in a mutually agreeable manner. He contacted his insurance company in an attempt to make it more difficult to file a claim. He's also ignored any attempt to work it out, including contact from our attorney. Unfortunately, it looks like we're going to have to sue MBR Wrecking to recover the $15,000. I've included a bunch of photos that document the mess that MBR made at our site.

Professional, straightforward, polite and helpful are some of the adjectives I would use to describe Joel Reifer. We actually made a big mistake by not using MBR Wrecking Inc as our demolition contractor. We chose another company that provided a lower quote, but this was an error. We had so many problems and ended up spending much more than the quote MBR Wrecking provided. I contacted Joel Reifer to bail us out from the uncompleted demolition work and once again, he was professional and ready to help with a new, competitive quote.

For those interested in the details of our project for context, keep reading… We needed to demolish a single-family home between our neighbor’s and our house…but we intended to keep the garage fully intact. This required the team to approach the property from the front, on a tight residential street in Chicago. To make matters worse, the parkway in front of the property also has two very large/mature trees, blocking direct access. Having no experience demolishing any buildings, I had a LOT of questions. Joel was kind enough to spend the time to speak with me 2 or 3 times before I committed to working with him, just to answer my questions and make me comfortable with the overall process, as well as the role he and MBR Wrecking would play in it. Once I chose MBR over 4 other demolition companies, things played out exactly as Joel had explained. The things that were in MBR’s control were done as described, per the details in the contract, and efficiently and on-time. The aspects of the work that were not in our control were the timelines waiting for inspections or disconnections, etc. The team arrived as expected and were EXTREMELY professional and courteous to the neighbors on our block. When the heavy construction equipment was delivered, the team swept the street to remove any dirt/debris that fell off the machinery and trailer. The excavator operator was surgically precise with the movements that our neighbors never once bothered to look out their window or raise any concerns about the safety/security of their property. The demolition occurred quite rapidly and efficiently. Despite the flaky weather Chicago has had recently, the team continued to work and removed every inch of the house, above and below grade, in under 6 days. I recognize all projects have different variables, so your mileage may vary. At any rate, I would welcome the opportunity to work with Joel and MBR Wrecking any time again in the future, and I highly recommend you choose MBR Wrecking for your next project.

MBR Wrecking are amazing and will get the job done. I had an old garage that needed to be taken down. I was worried that the process might be long. MBR did the job within a day. They cleaned up nicely and you can barely tell a garage was there. They were like ninjas! On top of that, the owner was nice enough to let me pay in three insatllments and offered me a lien of waiver. I recommend Joel Reifer and his marvelous company for their services.

The most difficult part was working with the City of Chicago, but that was to be expected, and his team kept me abreast of where we were at. When it comes to demolition I Must say that there is only one real option of who to hire. MBR demolished three houses for me in a week and took care of everything agreed upon without any hiccups. I know you might say that’s what I paid for, but it’s more than that. In construction there is a famous stereotype that construction never runs on schedule but with MBR that wasn’t the case. Joel and I agreed that the work should be done within two weeks and he straight up cut the timing in half. I’m a contractor in the Chicago land area and I worked with tens of different subcontractors in the past, but with demo after quoting Joel out the first few times with the three bid rule, I no longer have to quote him out since he beat the other bids the first 4 or 5 times and now we have a level of trust where Joel gets me a price typically within 48 hours of me reaching out, and he just simply takes care of everything else from A-Z which includes the annoying aspect of getting Permits. With that being said I know this now sounds like a paid review which is why I’m not telling you to hire MBR, all I’m asking is that you give them a call and your Gut will make the decision for you shortly after.

I would highly recommend MPR Wrecking for demolition work. I had a tree I came down in the storm and took down the roof of my garage. The remaining part was in Jeopardy of collapsing into the alley. After speaking with Joe they made it a priority to pull the permit and to get out in a timely fashion to remove the remaining portions of the garage. There are some photos before and after.????
