Have used Benewah Motors for vehicle repairs and multiple tows. Always have had excellent customer service, fair pricing, and reliable work done without a bunch of bs. Chris was a great mechanic, knew how to diagnose issues the right way, not just throw parts at problems. Chad has towed alot for me and my family around St. Maries, he is always prompt, has great communication and is polite. Teresa was helpful working around my schedule, and keeps the office running smoothly. A++ ☆☆☆☆☆
Not only has this amazing company came in the middle of the night to unlock my door for my car. Now they recovered my car after an accident. Very professional and kind and affordable.
We blew a tire on the way home from a swim day with our 4 kids. The first tow company I called said, "What do you want me to do about it?" And then they said their tow trucks wouldn't have enough space in the cab for all of us, and recommended that I call Benewah. When I did, the guy immediately got in his truck and came out to help. Really happy with the professionalism, speed, and friendliness!
We just moved here from Southeastern Idaho and I called this shop about having the wheel bearings replaced on my wife’s car and informed them we already had the parts. Was immediately told by this shop (rather curtly) “we do not do customer supplied parts.”
I have participated in a number of cases under the Idaho Consumer Protection Act and I am telling you that anytime you have an auto mechanic telling you that they do not permit a customer to use anything but the parts the mechanic supplies, it is a SCAM. They just want to sell you their overpriced car parts, usually of extremely low quality (like Advance Auto grade junk).
This principle can be no more demonstrated than in the circumstances of this particular case. Here, these parts were purchased by our ASE Certified Mechanic through NAPA and the parts were of NAPA’s premium grade. Our mechanic just did not have time to put them on before we moved.
The person on the phone did not know this because they immediately dismissed me, however, to me this is evidence that this mechanic’s reason for disallowing customer parts is in no way premised upon any legitimate concern, such as the quality of part used. It doesn’t get much better than NAPA and their parts usually have comprehensive warranties.
I hope my honest review can provide warning to others to be careful which mechanics they choose to give their business. Any mechanic that wont let you bring your own part straight from the NAPA store is not using honest business practices and should be avoided.
I locked my keys in my truck while at the lake. I called AAA and they sent Chad with Benewah Motors to open my truck. Chad arrived timely and opened my truck. He was very personable and professional. He was into my truck in minutes. I would recommends Benewah Motors towing and repair.
Chad was so helpful when our tire fell off as we were carrying our cab over camper with a broken jack. It took a lot of extra time and ingenuity and Chad was amazing! We ended up having to offload the camper and leave it on the side of hwy 3. Chad even called state patrol to explain our situation and save us from a ticket. Highly recommend Benewah motors!
We broke down up the St Joe river, bad alternator, and found ourselves stranded in Avery. We found a number for a tow, managed to get a hotel room for the night, and my boyfriend then called Benewah Motors to see if they had time to look at the car the next day. Instead, they gave him a hard time for calling someone else for a tow, then said "they didn't have time anyway," and hung up.
Maybe they really didn't have time to look at our car, but it came across as punitive because we didn't use them for towing. Why would it matter? If you look at the car, you're going to get paid for that, right?? You'll get your dime too. Don't punish people for calling what you consider the wrong towing company. If you really don't have time, just say I'm really sorry, wish we could help, but we're booked up.
Bottom line... Appalling customer service. They helped make an already stressful time even more stressful.
We got stranded up in 4th of July pass and Dave came all the way out, grabbed my husband and I plus our rig and towed us back into Couer D'Alene and waited with us to see where to drop the car. He was so kind and helpful and even stayed with us long after he'd have normally gone home.
