They were very transparent with the service details and made sure I understood and was comfortable with the service they would provide. Would love to use their service again.
Dan and his team are awesome. Very reasonable and they do great work. They are always busy, but still manage to help you out in a timely manner. I strongly recommend if you are looking for dependable auto service outside of dealerships.

Not only were the men working refreshingly kind but they fixed my tire extremely quickly! Not only that but it was an very reasonable price!
We were ready to leave on an extended trip with travel trailer hooked up and ready to go. The morning of departure my truck wouldn't start. Dan sent Josh over and within an hour had me up and running and on our way. OUTSTANDING customer service! I can't say enough about Dan and his shop. We take all our cars to Star Tire and Auto when repairs are needed. Thanks Dan!

Update: I do appreciate the owner, Dan, reaching out to me so quickly and responding to my review. I also appreciate that they made three attempts at repairing the tire and did not charge me more. I will say that in all my years of owning cars, I'm not aware of any prior flat taking three attempts to repair, but there's always a first time. I would have appreciated better communication about the process instead of having to go back 2.5 hours after it was supposed to be finished to check on the car. However, given the response of Dan, I am upgrading to three stars for my review.
Previous: I really wanted to like this place. I think it has been in Star a long time and is generally well reviewed. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing.
Found a nail in my wife's driver side rear tire this morning around 9, a slow leak at 26 psi for a 32 psi tire. Called around and found a few places that could do the repair today. Two were in Star, and one of them wouldn't be able to repair the tire until 3 or 4 pm. The guy at Star Tire said I could bring the car over right away and they could take care of me.
We dropped the car before 10 am. The gentleman said the car should be ready around 11:30 am. That was fine with us, as we had the other car. We were told that we would be called when the car was ready.
We had not received a call by 2 pm and we were out doing an errand so we dropped by. The same gentleman told me that they had tried two prior repairs of the tire, but leaking persisted. They were on their third try. I've never had a flat take three attempts to repair. We were told the car would be ready shortly. We decided to wait in the car.
The repair was completed within about 10 minutes, we paid, and were preparing to leave. Dan, who I believe is the owner, told us to check and make sure that the key was in the car. It wasn't. Went back in and had to wait another 5 minutes because they didn't know where the key was. It was eventually found and we were on our way. 3 hours after we were told the car would be ready.
I appreciate that they were able to take care of my car today. Everyone is nice here, and they seem to do a good business. As I said, they are well reviewed. We just moved to Star in June and I am looking for an auto shop to take care of the maintenance and repair of both our vehicles. Unfortunately, after this experience with ST&A, I'll be looking elsewhere.
They looked at my car in a timely manner and were honest. I can’t recommend them enough, if you want an honest shop who doesn’t waste your time or money they are it! Best mechanic shop in the treasure valley!
Star tire is absolutely amazing! Highly recommend they were able to get us back on the road quickly, very reasonable and professional. 10/10 would recommend Dan and the guys are awesome
We have gone to Dan for years. There is no one that I trust more! He always ensures that our vehicles are taken care of and he is more than fair with his services. We trust him and his team with every need we have!
Took my pickup to another shop in Star for front end work this past January. In addition to parts, I was charged for a front end alignment. 2 months later my two front tires have been destroyed. Took back to said shop and they admitted they don't do front end alignments and sent it over to Star Tire and Automotive. Drove immensely better afterwards, although no offer of tire replacement was made by Brand X. Since Star Tire had performed the alignment I stopped in and Dan the owner took matters in hand. Sold me a set of four tires at a great price, got me in and out freaky fast, at one point putting 3 men on it. Dan even bought my 2 good rear tires. Star Tire earned a long-term customer that day, Brand X not so much.
Dan was amazing- able to get our daughters car in same day a belt slipped off.
Got it back , checked over and done within short hours.
He was so honest and generous with his time.
100% recommend!!
The owner is honest and fair with prices. Service just barely misses 5 stars, because the guys are having so much fun. They seem to get caught up with joking around a little much. But that’s youth and I just smile. Never had a problem with their work and I’ll always go back.
We’ve tested other shops in Star over the years, and this is our favorite. Very fair and honest, and my wife feels comfortable dealing direct with them. They are always busy, but you feel like they really care about your car. Highly Recommend!
These guys are amazing and I am glad a good friend referred me to them. They are honest, best pricing anywhere hands down and therefore there's a wait for an appointment but the wait is definitely worth it. I took my Dodge Laramie in for an oil leak, bad wiper and sensor issue and these guys found the problems with the sensor when other's couldn't. Complete oil change, new wiper blades and light that was causing sensor issues replaced. Parts and Tax = $128 Labor = $0 are you kidding me? Who does that? These guys did! I found my mechanics and will be taking both of my vehicles to them for all my needs.
I called multiple shops to perform a somewhat complicated task for one of my Side x Side, and most wouldn't touch it for a variety of reasons, probably because its not technically a passenger vehicle... not these guys! Same day service, great communication and they saved my bacon at an affordable price. My wife had a similar experience here a few weeks back. Nothing but honesty, integrity and quality of work.
Been going to Sar Tire for over ten years! Best service around! Honest, quick and not eager to oversell products/services I do not need. Dan and Josh have always taken the extra time to explain things in layman's terms and provide options for repair. Will not use anyone else!
This review is long over due. A few months ago I got a flat tire after running over unavoidable construction debris that spilled onto Hwy 16. The bolt in my tire was huge and rendered it unrepairable. The tires were fairly new and also purchased from here. Dan made the extra effort and found out the tires were under warranty, therefore covering the replacement and saving me hundreds. I was back on the road the next day. Dan and his crew are the best and I would highly recommend!
Awesome shop. Brought my 66 Chevy C-10 to these guys to diagnose an engine tick and they had an answer to me the next day, no charge, and with a positive attitude I was chasing a normal noise. Most shops would not even want to deal with such an old truck and they took it in no problem. Super stand up guys. No attempts to sell me services I didn’t need. Told me straight everything is good to go as-is and have a nice day. Awesome.
From the time I first talked to Josh I knew they were extremely helpful. After Josh ordered some parts for me ,I had some major tire problems. I met Dan and he got me a great deal on tires. The place was just an absolute joy to work with. Helpful, knowledgeable, and reasonable. It’s a very nice feeling having reliable auto service.
I’m not one to leave reviews, but I’ll definitely leave one here! Quick & quality service with prices that won’t break the bank. By far the BEST tire shop I’ve been to. I've serious NEVER MET A BETTER GROUP OF GUYS!!!!!! Honestly it's a small town and I am African American with a car that was on it's last wheels I wasn't sure what exactly to expect. They were quick and diligent !!!! My car feels and sounds totally different !! This was by far my greatest experience with any mechanic !!! I would strongly recommend even if you are an Hour out !!! I arrived in Boise from the east coast and needed to have new tires installed from an online purchase. After getting the running around, attempted up-sales and poor customer service from other places, I decided to go with a family owned business (Star Tire & Automotive), even though it was a little further away. I am glad I made that decision. I can honestly say that Dan and his team were the best customer service experience I have had in a long while--going the extra mile to get me on my way as quickly as possible. 5 stars is not enough! I have had to buy a lot of used tires for my rare-sized wheels and I have had some very disappointing experiences, but from the first phone call, I could tell we had chosen the right place. They checked in every step of the way, saved us a ton of money and danger, and got us back on the road quickly. They posted the price for their basic services right up on the wall. Everyone we interacted with was polite. They talked to us without trying to make us feel dumb, or sell us stuff we don't need. It was a pleasure to watch the customers come in like old friends. I can see why they have so many repeat customers. Great shop, great people.
Great guys here. No pressure tire shop and repairs. You won't be hassled into spending money on work you don't want done. Walk-ins are welcome. Service is quick and thorough. Staff is laid back and friendly.
Great locally owned shop. They are helpful and make sure everything is done correct. I did not know that they offer automotive service now as well and Josh does really good work. They remedied some O2 and crank sensors and got me through smog with no problem and a fair price.
I have had nothing but great experiences with Dan and his crew at Star Tire & Auto. They are professional and friendly. They know automobiles inside and out. They handle classic cars and modern vehicles as well. Their prices are reasonable and their follow through is outstanding. If you're looking for a good mechanic, this is the place to go. They do more than just tires but they also do wheels and tires very well. If you're looking for new tires and wheels, they'll take care of you. If you just need a set of used tires or one specific used tire, they'll have it or they can quickly get it for you.
