This place is awful. That man that drives that white truck is rude and has attitude problem. Not the older guy but the one middle age like in his 40s. And he be over charging people when suppose to be $10 dollars and charging them $30 dollars. He has bad customer services skills. He got mad because we got there at 7:59 am and they open at 8:00am and he was sitting his truck smoking a cigarette and eating fried chicken and we politely asked him do you work here and he rudely said with attitude they don’t charge me extra. All he had to say was give me a minute I’m coming.
Recently found out about this place and it’s just a dump :) which is a good thing. They charge based on weight, they have vehicle scales there. Surprisingly, the customer service is fantastic and the young man in the scale house is awesome.
Man tried to charge me $30 cash for less than 150lbs. I had nothing but cardboard and a cheap bed frame. I’m also a residents in the area it should’ve been $10. Never even weighted me out before trying to charge me so no way he knew how much weight I had?? shit sucks won’t come back
Seems like they coming up with their own price, to tip themselves. Tried to charge me 30 dollars once, and I told them to weigh me and it came up to 10 dollars
The manager was extremely helpful. We are two sisters who were just moving to ATL, and we had left over furniture in a 26-ft supermover Uhaul, and he personally helped me move every piece of furniture left in that truck. Even though he was the manager and that was NOT his job. Exceptional! He made this process so much more easier for me. We are forever grateful. Great customer service! -Sierra Cannon
Still too high A year later and still too high. $124 for a half ton(1000lbs). Two different times. In Cobb county their rates are $14 for the 1st 400lbs then $.03 after. So the same weight in Cobb would be $32. In Douglas County it cost $58. It still would be cheaper for a non resident to go to another county. This don’t make no sense. Then people are rude and lazy. The whole system is terrible. South Fulton as a whole is trash.
Why did y’all take the price scale away.
Customers need to know how much we need to pay.

The prices need to be visible.
We showed up 10 minutes before the posted closing time. We were not only turned away but told there wasn't even any room for our items (we were in a minivan!) Do better or change the posted times!
I usually ONLY come for the free bulk trash day BUT my garage needed relief so I packed what I thought was 6 Tons worth of old stuff and garbage into my SUV, parked it on the weight scale, and spoke with the gentleman at the window (More on this window later). After unloading all my junk, I went back to the weight station and was only charged $30!! "THANK YOU!!" I have one more load building up so I definitely will be back!
My only complaint but more of a suggestion would be to PLEASE put a sign over the attendant's window that says "Attendant" or "Staff", that current window looks like a regular gated window with a old AC hole in it.... Me and Jamaal were almost beefing before breakfast because I couldn't see him. His safety is important so DON"T change the window but just add a little more direction please. I used Merk Miles transfer station for the first time. I had about 7 bags of garbage leftover from a BBQ. I weighed them with a luggage scale before I left to make sure I was under the 150 lb. limit. I pulled up to the scale, exited my vehicle and spoke with the attendant on the building next to it. After paying $10, I drove over to the dumpster. I had to wait for one person to finish in the one dumping area that was open (one was full), but I was quickly able to dispose of my trash and leave. Good experience. Helpful attendant.
Love it, the gentleman working soooooooo nice. Took our payment without having any problems like when the other ladies worked there. Glad they opened back up. Have no problems with the fees $10.
" IMPORTANT" I would just say please read all comments before going here. This place is a complete scam prices have been jacked so high it's crazy. Also it's supposed be a free bulk day for residents as we already pay for trash but they are closed on that free day how Ironic. If it's all worth it just give it to donation or let people come take your unwanted items for free who would love to have them
Not pleased with the price increases since the reopen. I paid $80 for something I would've paid $20 in the past for discard of household items. Their wt system is a ripoff! This is ridiculous, and I will not be back! I will tell others about my experience.
I’ve been coming here for years even before The City Of South Fulton became a city. It’s been a disaster since new management took over. Besides other things I’ve experienced in the last several months I just left the landfill and I couldn’t dump because the dumpsters were all full and the one guy that was working (witch was doing his best with the resources he has been given) said they were supposed to pickup the full dumpsters yesterday and they haven’t picked them up. This dump site use to be very efficient. It’s a disaster now.
1/27/24: Since they’ve reopened, prices are their prices are through the roof, efficiency of unloading is at an all-time low because you are no longer dumping at a higher height than the dumpsters and the help that helps you unload doesn’t want to and will verbally say it. I paid $80 for something that would be $10 in 2023 before they closed. The city might as well reclose it
This used to be a very convenient place to recycle, and the city of South Fulton has Welcome All Transfer Station as the alternative to this location since it’s indefinitely closed (and does not respond to questions about reopening). However, the Welcome All location is actually GFL, the single worst sanitation service in the universe, and despite being called a Recycling Center, say they don’t recycle and that it’s $40 to dump anything at all there. The best alternative we have found is College Park Recycling Drop Off Center on Harvard Ave. It takes us 15 minutes longer to get there, but is open 24/7 AND they recycle glass, which Merk Miles didn’t do.
We had a good amount of household compost, very small appliances to dump etc and we got in and out very quickly, and it was SO cost efficient. I'm so very happy this is offered in our community as an alternative and/or additional option to scheduled trash pick up. I see a lot of comments about the lady at the pay window and while she did not have the most friendly and inviting personality, she was definitely NOT rude or unprofessional! you can tell she's just there to do her job. It seemed to be organized and easy throughout the entire process, we were in and out in about 15 minutes.
We called ahead and the lady at the scale told us they took there last car/truck at 4:45 we arrived at 4;30.The lady at the scale was rude and disrespectful. Tried to stop our dumping before we were finished. On the other hand the crew members were awesome and kept telling her it was okay we didn’t have a lot left and helped us out with the dumping.
Not sure how they know how much to charge becuase they don’t weigh you on the way out. Feels like they are just guessing.
I see I have a response. I have always had to pay more than the amount listed on the sign when I drive in. This is also more than the amount that I listed on the website.
South Fulton land fill/ recycling center, very convenient location hidden just off the busy Camp Creek Parkway. Easy in & out, very reasonable cost (even with the recent price change). You offload your materials into dumpster bins that are removed when full and replaced . Very low environmental impact, but able to accept all kinds of household garbage and construction debris. Only toxic chemicals are not accepted. Line can be long at times, but it typically moves fairly quickly.
Quick to get in and very inexpensive to drop off a car load of household debris. One thing to be aware of is that you're not dumping your garbage onto the ground but rather into dumpsters that are set at different locations around the dump site. These dumpsters are lowered but you still have to lift the items but you throw away about the level of your knees and tossed them over a small guard rail. If you have anything very heavy make sure you have some help.
Low cost, friendly, most of the people who come here are homeowners like you and not big trucks. Usually not terribly busy, but sometimes you have to wait in line. Worth it b/c a lot of places charge a lot more and let you dump fewer types of items.
