After waiting for over an hour for Progressive to dispatch a tow, I tried two local tow companies. The first told me they could get to me by 9:15pm (it was 4:30) and the other Mayfield Wrecker Service said he’d come right then. Within 10 minutes I was being rescued by the best guy! Breaking down on the way home from the airport after a work trip wasn’t in my plans for Friday the 13th but getting my car home quick and efficiently sure made a horrible experience that much better. Mayfield will be my first choice every time and should be yours too!

I called a few companies for my unique situation. On an unpaved red clay road. The young man came with his heavy truck and could not gain access to the site. He turned around and called for the proper equipment. His brother, I think, showed up backed up and they got to work. They found the machine that was stuck was not stuck at all. But actually broke down. I asked “So now I have to call a mechanic”? They laugh and said that’s us. Even offered me a bottle of water. 🤗 Needless to say the repairs were done and I drove out. Professional, respectful and thoughtful young men. Thank you so much.

The tow driver, Johnny showed up on time and was courteous and knowledgeable. He was able to quickly tow my new to me Corvette. If I ever need another tow in the area I will be going with this company again.

My truck tire came off, and I needed a tow. I initially called my roadside assistance, but a police officer on the scene suggested he call a local company that might arrive faster. I asked if they would take my insurance since I have roadside coverage, and he said I could ask the driver. I agreed, thinking it wouldn't hurt to check. The driver from Mayfield Towing pulled up and immediately gave off an energy of dismissal and disrespect. I’m not looking for perfect customer service, but at the very least, I expected some basic courtesy. When I tried to ask if they accepted my insurance, I couldn’t even finish my sentence before being cut off with a hard “No.” Then he told me that in order to load my truck, he would have to further damage it. I asked him to explain because I couldn’t wrap my head around someone telling me I needed to allow more damage just to get towed. He repeated there was “no other way.” That alone was a huge red flag. When I asked how much it would cost to tow my truck half a mile, he said $275. So, I’m supposed to let you damage my vehicle and pay $275 for a short tow? Absolutely not. I told him I’d wait for my roadside assistance instead. He then told me I couldn’t wait—that he had to move the truck now. That made no sense. While I was on the phone with roadside assistance, the original tow truck they dispatched called to say he was pulling up. I let the Mayfield driver know, and he tried to convince me that the other company wouldn’t be able to take the truck and that my insurance wouldn’t allow it. Guess what? The second driver arrived, was polite and patient, and loaded my truck with no additional damage. He got it to my house without any issues at all. The Mayfield driver was not only rude and aggressive, but clearly not honest. The experience felt like a pressure tactic to force me into a bad deal. I do not recommend this company to anyone. That said, I believe the city may have a contract with them—so if you end up dealing with them anyway… good luck. Update after owners reply: Thank you for replying, but your response does not reflect the full experience. Your driver did not “honestly and respectfully” explain a risk of damage. He stated outright that he would have to damage my truck in order to tow it. That’s not the same as offering a clear explanation or giving me informed options. When I asked follow-up questions to better understand, I was met with a dismissive tone and abrupt responses. I fully understand that law enforcement towing may have different guidelines than insurance-based tows. But that does not excuse poor customer service or the pressure tactics used. Your driver told me I couldn’t wait for roadside assistance, insisted that my insurance wouldn’t cover the tow, and claimed the other company wouldn’t be able to take my truck. None of that was true. My roadside driver arrived shortly after, loaded my truck without further damage, and got it to my home with no issues at all. To be fair, the officer may not have presented the situation to your driver the same way he presented it to me. He simply said he could try to get someone there sooner than my roadside assistance ETA and asked if I wanted him to see. I agreed. What he actually communicated to your driver, I can’t say for sure. Maybe that’s where the disconnect happened,but even if so, it still doesn’t excuse the dismissive attitude, pressure tactics, or unprofessional behavior I experienced firsthand. He could have explained everything in a more friendly and respectful manner, and this review would be completely different. Additionally, to clarify your point about the driver “remaining on-site to ensure my safety”, that’s not accurate. He told the officer he was staying because the other driver wouldn’t be able to take it, not out of concern for me or my safety. I stand by my review. Your driver was rude, dismissive, and made a difficult situation worse. I appreciate your attempt to appear professional in your response, but professionalism should start at the scene, not just in follow-up replies.

I can’t recommend Mayfield enough. They were not only the most reasonably priced of all the places I called, they were hands down the friendliest as well. They came right out and helped me get my car where it needed to be. I hope I never need a tow service again, but if I do, they’re the only ones I will call!

My son’s car broke down on the side of the road and Chase showed up in under 30 minutes, on a Sunday morning! He was such a nice guy and very helpful! Definitely recommend!

I just want to say Chase is a very nice man. I called for my dad because he was stranded in Douglasville. Chase assured me he could be to my dad within 20 minutes. I got the vehicle handled and drove my dad home. And when it was time to pay him for the services, he said You don’t owe me anything. I just wanted to make sure y’all got taken care of and back home. He said the Lord has blessed me. He turned around and blessed my dad today. There are still good people in this world!

Temple police called Mayfield to pick up my son’s motorcycle when he was hit by a truck. They charged him $500 to take the bike from Temple to Villa Rica. Even though it was on Sunday that is just wrong. That is a ridiculous price to charge. Needless to say they will never tow anything I own again.
