My trip today to the recycling plant was kind of disturbing. I've been coming here for a while plus I've been going to other scrap yards in town. I'm not new to this. My husband and I come to this scrap yard at least twice a day. My husband and I've been scrapping for over 20 years and when we discovered Jacksonville metal recycling everybody was nice as can be and very helpful. They still are very nice and helpful except for one guy named Darren. I know that glass plastic styrofoam anything like that goes to the trash. Also know where aluminum goes and where the aluminum cans go. Also know we're steal another metals go also and so does my husband. Today we were stopped by Darren from the time that we pulled in to the time we went to go unload the aluminum cans so where he told us what they would and would not take as my husband was pouring the cans into the can canister. It got reminding supposedly my husband of what goes into scan recycled units and as I said earlier my husband's been doing this for over 20 years. Last week he lied and told the people who work here that we were putting cat food cans and no aluminum cam holders, which we were not. But Darren felt the need to stand over us and comment on everything we were doing. We've never seen Darren before and we've never had anybody watch over us. We honestly felt like victims today. So what I have to say is everybody else that works for Jacksonville Metro recycling is extremely nice extremely helpful and they love to joke around. Just make sure you don't get Darren because he seems like he's going to try to frame you for something. But I still give the metal recycling five stars.

Went for my first time about a month ago and had a great experience! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially House! Will definitely be back soon!
So I took the time to strip welding lead and solid copper wire, cleaned It all made sure it was perfect. Weighed it before I left and figured out the money I should get when I got to the establishment. The vibe was bad already. The guy kept trying to tell me my truck was 3800 and it was 5400. I brought all my copper up in 2 5 gallon buckets. I dumped one of them out and expected him to dump the other one out or whatever. I thought for convenience he kept it in the bucket, but then he took my bucket and they charged me 2 pounds. Even though I asked for my bucket back, they charged me two pounds of weight for 1 5 gallon bucket. And apparently, they round their weight down.If it's not a solid pound. I had almost forty five.They gave me less than forty four. I will never use this company again. This was the first and last time. I don't scrap a lot, but if you're going to get somebody for no reason.That's sad. They didn't give me a ticket to tell me how much weight I had or I would have disputed it right then! And they don't tell you until after you fingerprint and sign. So for $12 y'all earned this review not much on this scale but had it been more It could a bigger hit. From the weigh in all the way to the checkout, I felt like they were trying to get over on me. And they did.
We got there an hour before they closed and they made us leave when we were not done. Unloading way too early. Had my truck loaded and the trailer and only got to unload the trailer.
Called to ask about scrapping a truck, and while they do accommodate this kind of thing, they couldn't give me exactly what I needed. Daniel was extremely helpful anyway, and passed information to me that did give me what I am looking for. Very honest, helpful business!
Google says open til 4:00 but when you go there at 3:30 they refuse your service and even claim they close at 4:00 when I asked at the office but want to shut it down early to make sure they go home @4 instead. I have a hydraulic trailer which takes 2 mins to go up and unload everything. Everyone’s so caught up into closing early and going home 5 mins early to play with their hands. Lazy office workers. The employees out in the field offered to take my service if the office allowed it but they didn’t.
Got a Quote for my Catalytic Converter online Est $380. Went to Jax Metal Recycling, They said 'Best I can do is offer $75' promised me I wont get a better price anywhere else as that is the 'going rate'. Left the facility, sold to online Metal Recycler for $330, they paid shipping as well. DO NOT RECOMMEND / UNTRUSTWORTHY, will try to low ball you, and take advantage if they think you don't know what your item is worth.
This is a great place to take your scrap metal. The staff are all great, the man that guides you to unload you large scrap is awesome. The men in the building that help with aluminum etc are all very helpful and respectful. The cash office staff, Candy is absolutely wonderful!

I had recycled about 200 linear feet of aluminum gutters here a few months ago. Just for background, I'm a homeowner, and not a contractor. I had never been here or anywhere else to recycle large amounts of material. I was initially disappointed because I did not get the amount per pound I was told I would get a week earlier over the phone. I also weighed it beforehand and the weight they gave me was about 10-20lbs short. After I got home I called to complain and spoke with the manager there, Shane. Shane was very helpful in explaining several aspects of the business and it helped me to understand each of the discrepancies. First off, the scale is a very large float scale. If you have a truck load of material, you can expect it will be 10-20lbs off. As far as the pricing, there are various grades of material and the cost varies per grade. If you are worried about how much you are going to get for your material, or what the grade is, just stop by the front office and show them what you've got in advance. I do believe they are making an honest effort to give everyone a fair price on the material. The other thing to keep in mind is that the prices of the materials can change multiple times in a week. So you have to check with them on the day you are dropping off the material. All that being said, I felt a lot better about my experience. Shane was gracious enough to take my word on the weight of the material and added a small credit to my account to make up the difference. I appreciate his professionalism in addressing the issue and will definitely go back again in the future.

Everyone very friendly and very helpful. They treated me with respect and were very helpful for a first timer. Explained what the business would and would not take. How I could be well prepared each time. It was great to learn these things. I was there during lunch and since it was slower I believe it allowed them more time to be able to explain these things to me. I certainly appreciated it.
The woman in the office was pleasant and patient with me during the payment process which was super easy.
They do round up or down on the dollar so don’t be surprised. Personally it’s not a big deal and I’m happy to get money for what I would have simply thrown away before.
