My transmission became disengaged. Scott was very helpful- reviewed the possibilities with me, called with tentative diagnosis and cost, kept me informed and let me know while doing the repairs it would cost much less. Diagnostic fee was included in the repair cost. He followed up by phone and text to find out how repairs held up. Very satisfied.

The transmission in my truck had a mass of issues until it was time to get it replaced, and they replaced it very efficiently and well. The team was very thorough with explanations and options, and very helpful through out the process. Overall my experience with them was wonderful and saved me a lot of heartache.
About one month ago, in July 2025, my beloved Lexus GX 460 all the sudden lost engagement while driving. It was first towed to another auto shop. They replaced transmission oil and that did not play the trick. Then I called around and decided to try my luck with the Gainesville charter of AAMCO. What an excellent decision that I made! From the short conversation I had with Scott who answered the phone, I could tell this seemed to be an amicable and honest person. I had the car towed to his shop the next day. After a thorough checkup, it was decided that the most assured approach was to have the entire transmission replaced with a remanufactured one. To make a long story short, Scott did not make empty promises, but his shop got the job done in time for me to make a big trip to Washington D.C., New York, Niagara, Ann Arbor, and Chicago. As Scott explained, the car experienced some minor unfitness initially. There were some humming noises and at high speeds above 75 miles per hour the car vibrated mildly. However, exactly as Scott predicted, after about the first 100 miles, all the symptoms start to subdue and eventually totally disappeared. On my trip over 3,500 miles for three weeks, my GX 460 drove like new. I tested the transmission in every way, including automatic transmission, cruise control, and manual down shifting for acceleration or engine braking. Its performance was nothing but perfect. While the bill of more than $10,000 was eye watering, I was highly satisfied with my experience with Scott and his shop. Although my car is 10 years old, it had only 26,000 miles on it when the transmission failed. Everything else was in excellent conditions. Most importantly, I was addicted to the comfortable driving experience with this car. Now, AAMCO put it back to full blood. Plus, Scott called me twice while I was on the road to check on the conditions of the car. He even went so far as to check around the AAMCO charters along my itinerary to see if the GX was sent in for warranty service. This kind of dedication convincingly shows that he is not only interested in the money he receives for his service, but also the quality of his work and the wellbeing of his customers. I have no hesitation whatsoever to recommend Scott and his shop to anyone who needs transmission services.
They were all super friendly and efficient! I was having some trouble with my transmission and I swore I was about to have to throw my car in the trash due to what I was told by other mechanics and I had to drive four hours away in two days! AAMCO then told me I only needed a couple screws to hold it all in place set me up for an amazing rate immediately did the work and had his mechanic even stay longer hours to get it on the road in time for my trip! and my car has been driving like a goddess ever since! I definitely recommend as they’re very professional and supportive without dismissing ur concerns and I’m nothing but a 21 year old girl!
These guy were all incredible. Very honest and thorough. They explained everything in detail to me and were quick about it. They really worked with me. I got my transmission done which was a tough pill to swallow but they made it as easy as possible.

My experience with AAMCO was very positive, they had a quick turnaround on my dodge challenger after the dealer told me they couldn’t find transmissions these guys came through with a really low mileage used option and have been very thorough with their checkups. Just some short background information on a truck that has over 327 thousand miles. I was told that my rear Differential was leaking (big repair bill )and it appeared so. However, when I took my vehicle to AAMCO in Gainesville, they provided a different diagnosis. AAMCO found that there was a rear engine seal leak that was splashing back to the differential. In which I thought was going to be more expensive than repairing the rear end and it was just before Christmas. AAMCO informed me that they could do the rear engine seal repair and to make it better, they threw in Servicing my Transmission at a reasonable cost.
Scott and his crew went above and beyond for me when my transmission died 370 miles away from home. They are ultimate professionals. They explained everything to me in a manner that made me feel like I could almost put together a transmission. I felt like I had someone personally holding my hand through the whole process. They are very reputable, honest and fair. I have NO hesitation in recommending them.
Scott, the manager, is a saint! He provided a thorough explanation of what could be going on with my car. Even when I called back several times to ask some follow up questions, he was very patient and gave me great advice. The technicians were super knowledgeable and had my car in and out of there within a few hours. I have already told others about the service I received there and recommended this shop. I hope I do not need their services anytime in the near future however, if I do, I am so grateful to know that they are there! If I could give more than five stars, I would :-)
I had the best experience with the professional and friendly care my older V.W I got at Gainsville AAMCO. Scott and John put alot of hard work into fixing my cars transmission. We have used AAMCO previously and also again today, they are so considerate and explain everything so we can understand. Jacob takes his time and always calls back and answers the phone. I highly recommend. They are busy but they fit you in for a diagnosis .
Replaced my trucks rear differential with a used one and it seems to be great! Did it for a very reasonable price too. We’re also very prompt to keep me in the loop on the whole process. I didn’t have to call and bug them constantly to find out if they were getting started on my truck.
I would definitely not go here for any car care, not even to wash my windshield, first they're very unprofessional and unorganized, when they say free evaluation better make sure it's a job they want to do or they tell you we're to busy for your needs. 2 hours of evaluation turned into 2 hours of waiting for the technician and 5 minutes of evaluation, and when I questioned Scott, first he's rude, then doesn't listen, then tells you oh no no it's this way, although on the phone when trying to get my business, it's that way, find another place maybe Tommy's next door would be better, DON'T GO HERE

This location has been nothing short of amazing and professional from the technicians to the front office staff. The technician sat down with me to explain what was going on with my car in detail with no pressure whatsoever. Scott stayed in touch with me from the moment I dropped the car off to the moment I picked it up. When I ran into an issue while traveling, he went out of his way to help me get to the closest AAMCO in the area and stayed on top of things to ensure I was taken care of. Getting a car repaired is always going to be stressful but I’ll say everyone here did such an outstanding job at making the process as smooth and painless as possible. I cant recommend them enough
My 2013 Fiat 500 with a manual transmission recently experienced clutch issues, and when I searched on Google for a repair shop in Gainesville, I immediately found AAMCO’s listing. It’s a business name I’ve known and trusted for decades, and they’ve lived up to their reputation once again. I received prompt courteous service from manager Scott Arnold as soon as I called, and that great service continued when I brought the car to them for a free estimate. They tested multiple items to pinpoint the problem, and gave me a reasonable, conservative estimate of the repair cost, which ended up exactly matching the estimate when the repair was completed. Scott will be following up with me after a week and again after a month to be sure that there are no remaining issues to be addressed. I’m very satisfied with my experience and highly recommend this shop.

I would never recommend taking a vehicle here for repairs. After my experience there. I took my truck thinking I was making a good decision unfortunately it was not. I was lied to on several occasions, took months to get vehicle back then the day I got it I had to take it back to AAMCO because it was not right. Then after a long period I finally get it back only to find out it still was not in right working order. I took it back again only to be told well that's it and warranty is up so there u go. What a horrible experience I feel as though I was done very wrong. After reading reviews I see I was not the only one. But I hope anyone thinking of taking their vehicle here for repairs will read reviews first. This was the worst service I have ever gotten anywhere... I would think that if the Owner of the business was going to reply to a Review at least he should be Honest and accurate. But this is for sure not the case in this situation....
I took my 2004 BMW in year ago for service and EJ the service manager and the Tech Team made sure I was taken care of, it's been a year now and my car still smooth. Thank you for the cold drinks.
Had a poor experience with another automotive service that led me to come here. Ash took the time to listen with compassion and give me sage advice on what they could do for my particular vehicle issue. She kept in contact with me during the process and was honest about the delivering of the parts. To which picking up the vehicle told Mike about the whole experience and he took the time to go with us to the vehicle and even drive it when my son has some concerns. Taking the time to be professional and use some wonderful customer service skills is a rare find. I would definitely recommend this location.
