Always goes above and beyond for us. Never takes advantage of a situation. Looks out for you and is more interested in having a long term happy customer than making a quick buck.
They massively overcharge on parts, at least a 75% up charge. They also will not allow you to supply your own parts. They massively over quote on labor hours as well, turning a simple job that shouldn’t be any more than $1000 into over $1,800. They’ll force you to do all of the work they recommend, even if you tell them you do not need it. You’ll be stuck with a $90 “diagnosis” fee, even if the issue was already diagnosed and they’re attempting to over-complicate the job. The service writer lady that answers calls is also condescending and evidently needs to brush up on her social skills. Beware of this shop, they will attempt to gouge you. Very dishonest. They also left the car unlocked overnight, completely unsecured out front of the shop. Extremely unprofessional.
I brought my car here and they are very professional and helpful. They are also very kind. My car runs like new now! It sounded like it was going to explode before!
I was quoted 6,000 dollars for a new transmission from another shop and brought my truck here and they fixed it for 600 dollars! It’s been about 6 months and the truck is still running great and they certainly fixed the problem and saved me thousands of dollars.
I've gone to Performance Transmission for a couple of years now and they always provide great service. They're honest, competent, and kind. I appreciate that they have a Honda specialist and I plan to continue going to them until I'm no longer in Gainesville, highly recommend!
Excellent service and reliability. My Honda had engine lights on due to some transmission sensor issue. I took it to two other shops, sank like 500 bucks and yet none of them could actually service the issue. I finally went here and they solved it with minimum fuss. If you have a transmission problem, I cannot recommend a better shop in GNV

I had an amazing experience with this place. The front office staff is so wonderful and warm. I knew before going in that I would be waiting for my car so that was helpful to plan and there’s also free Wi-Fi so I was able to do my work while waiting. They looked at my car because I had a check engine light, but I told them that I’m planning to sell the car because our family is expanding and they did a thorough overview of the car and also gave me some insight into how much I could plan to sell my car for. As a woman who doesn’t know a lot about cars, I felt very taken care of, and felt like they were honest and transparent, and we’re not attempting to just make money off of my ignorance, which is huge! They also were very honest about how much they would be able to do on our newer car that we purchased, which is a hybrid, which I also appreciate the honesty upfront
I’ve been to performance transmission a few times and I cannot stress enough how kind they are here. I’ve never felt more comfortable at an auto shop and the work that has been done on my car has always been exceptional. Definitely recommend!

The diagnostics was what I expected, so I opted for repairs on my Camry instead of buying a new vehicle, which would have meant dealing with a car note. And let's be real, have you seen the prices of cars lately? If it runs great and just needs a little TLC, I say take it to the professionals.

I was traveling from Tampa to Atlanta when I had car trouble. I turned to google to find a repair shop and reddit led me here. I am so glad it did, the people were so nice, repair was done quickly and for a reasonable price. I was so worried being so far from home that a repair shop would take advantage of me but they did not.
They were amazing and I highly recommend them if you live in Gainesville or if like me you are traveling through and have car trouble.
Recently brought my 2005 Dodge Magnum in for some drive line work, and have been extremely impressed by the crew at Performance Transmission! I've interacted directly with Tyler, Colleen, and Dustin, and they've all been exceptional in helping me get the best possible service for my money.
The drive shaft work I had them do on the magnum went perfectly, and I'm very happy with the way the car drives now as a result. However, what really impressed me is: while the car was at their shop, it suffered an ABS module failure (electrical issue that was by NO MEANS the fault of the shop,) and Dustin said to bring the car back, and they thoroughly troubleshot the issue for me. The fact that they were so willing to help me find the cause, and at no charge, for something they weren't at fault for won my business right then and there!
They're currently working on plunking a new motor into my other vehicle, and Dustin is working his hide off making sure I get the best deal on a re-manufactured engine possible, and in the shortest time frame too! Their service is exceptional, and incredibly fair. Thanks guys! You're my heroes!
I have taken many of my cars here for over 10 years and they have always been very reliable from oil changes to bigger repairs. They have great customer service, prices, and are very knowledgeable. I always recommend performance transmission when people need a car repair place!
This is an excellent place for auto repair. They are extremely trustworthy and friendly. I have an older Cadillac that they have taken care of. The latest was with new struts. Prior to that was taking care of replacing valve cover gaskets. Both visits resulted in very good outcomes.
My son's car broke down while he was visiting Gainesville. It's never good when you have a vehicle issue away from home and don't know anyone. I trusted the online reviews and he had the car towed here. The staff went above and beyond to not only make sure the car was repaired but also let us know of any other potential issues. They were also accommodating to our schedule since we had to make arrangements to drive to Gainesville and pick up the car once the work was complete. My car had issues that we got diagnosed at the dealership for an outrageous price and a major repair. We brought it here to see if they could fix it for a more reasonable price. It turned out to be a minor repair and saved us over $3k. This business treats you like family. They want to fix your car for a reasonable price and with a smile. Their lot is always full and you have to schedule a week or so in advance, but trust me when I say it's worth the wait. I will definitely bring my vehicle back here for maintenance.
My sister referred me to this place and I’m so excited to have found an honest mechanic! They take the time to explain exactly what is going on with your car in a way that is easy to understand. From these explanations I get a clear sense of exactly what I’m paying for and what I didn’t have to pay for (because they don’t do unnecessary repairs or replace things that can just be cleaned). A truly wonderful shop. Excellent customer service and good work. Our 2010 Ford Explorer’s transmission failed pretty catastrophically, and they were able to get a like new (rebuilt) transmission installed about a week for a very reasonable price. It has now been towing and running GREAT for over a year since.

I was originally quoted for a brand new rear axle for my mustang and the company that quoted that recommended that I did not do a rebuild. So I looked around for a second opinion and found Performance Transmission and A/C Auto Repair online. I saw a lot of good reviews and figured I would give it a shot. From the beginning they were upfront about what the plan of approach would be to diagnose what the issue was and every step of the way conversations stayed that way. I spoke mainly with Dustin, but everyone I talked too was very professional and I felt like I was a valued customer. All of the communication I had with them was in-depth and I felt that they really wanted to answer all of the questions that I had. And on top of that they were confident that we could do a rebuild instead of buying a new rear axle. So I ended up paying half of the price of my original quote from the other shop. Overall they were the third place I called and I am glad I looked around. I have driven the car about 500 miles now and it runs great. No gear noise and it feels great on the road. I feel like I got the best service that I could have gotten. They are highly knowledgeable and you will feel confident that your car is in good hands with them. There are no complaints from me and anyone that is in the area that has any transmission work should really give this place a shot. They will definitely be the place that I am going to be recommending!
This shop is very professional, reliable, and affordable. They are straight-forward and don't try to sell you a bunch of work you may not really need. We have been here 3 times with two vehicles and each time the quality of service, cost, and speed have been awesome (work done: AC compressor, wheel bearing, headlights). Both of our vehicles are older (11 and 15) and need ongoing maintenance and repairs so we plan to continue using Performance Auto Repair for all our work. I highly recommend this shop.
Absolutely by far the best car service I've received in my life! They replaced the transmission in my Honda CR-V. Not only were they the best price in town, they were also quick and honest. And when an issue with my transmission continued to reappear, they took it upon themselves to get my issue solved under warranty.
