Nursing supervisor is terrible! No help at all. Treats us patients like trash. Ever since becoming the root center it’s been a nightmare. The only plus are the wonderful nurses. Beyond them everything is completely disorganized and nobody seems to know what’s going on anymore!
Working on changing our life. Husband & I working hard at being a better us. 1st appointment with Dr. was great, educational & informative as well as a sense of understanding. Explained how addiction works on keeping u using. How the brain works when it feels the "reward". Us as addicted know how it destroys our lives. They have never made me feel as they passed any type of judgement except when I was trying to deal with my mental health issues & seeing Dr. Cherry. I enjoyed being in IOP (group was up to 5 days a week) & also in the mental health group(Fridays & mandatory if not attending IOP) When explaining my issues, to Dr. Cherry I felt ashamed of myself after her comment about my "use" while under her care. Her statement made me feel like i was just wasting her time, made worse after telling her the trauma & tragedies(yes an excuse but at the same time working on finding the correct medications & dose for treatment) we've endured as well as trauma so fresh, But I'm here to be a better me. I want to stop...(August 16, 2024)son left for dead in a puddle after driver hit & ran, breaking both legs, left femer, right tibia & fibia, 1 rib, every bone in his face broken in multiple spots, nose smashed, right eye socket had to be removed from his brain (brain bleed) rebuilt, spleen & kidney removed, hemerging & no way to fix them, internal bleeding, broken tail bone. Stop responding Neurologically. Watched his baby brother cry over the thought he was going to die. My life was destroyed, the counselors did everything to help us. They helped us from diving into death. But we were there because we wanted to be there. (April 24th 2025) our youngest son was killed by 25 yr old Nelson Torres along with himself & his 2 brothers.) And again the supported us so much they gave me a contact to someone else to help my mental health. Mountains of guilt I myself have to work through. Not including what my husband has to work through. Thank u Bristol Root for the chance to start again & the faith in us to keep keeping on!
The Root center treat me I can actually human being and addresses my concerns and are very supportive of the staff. I don’t know where I would be without this program!!! The new management is a lot better!! This place saved me from being 6 feet down!! They actually care about their patients and I’m not Statistic number in the system!! The counselors are very friendly and the staff make me feel like I’m not alone… And with the continued support!! I cannot think this program enough !!!
I absolutely love it, they have new staff and they really care for you individually of course depending on how your doing and if your following the rules. They do have a job to do and being we're addicts we always try to get away with anything it's sad that some of us really want the help
Such a WASTE of time. Not to mention how dangerous it is on Farmington ave. Nobody knows how to pull in and out of this place without brake checking others and not using their blinker. Staff don’t want to help you, they couldn’t care less about you, you’re just another paycheck to them.

anything.I have a very awesome counselor she listens to me she helps me out with what she can. I enjoy the IOP group at night 3 days a week. Thanks everyone for letting me say a few things have a good day.
They don’t actually care about their clients. We’re just a paycheck to them. The only reason they’d care if we OD’d & died is cuz they wouldn’t be getting our money anymore. This place was more of a trigger than anything else during my recovery. They’re also incredibly unorganized & the turnover rate for counselors is absurd.
They do not treat the clients as individuals with each having their personal issues. Which is a great issue with mental health. If anything the stress levels really enhance mental issues! They contradict themselves. Very uncaring and little compassion make errors and turn them on the client I have been at the Bristol dispensary since 2004. I had very few issues and they were handle well. “UNTIL” Root took over. Within the last two years I have had so many problems that were not taken care of in a timely and professional way! I highly recommend going somewhere else! Reading all the comments I want to add that I started at APT in new haven 1998. Transferred 2004 I have Never had a dirty urine. These places are great if you want to truly stop. Methadone maintenance is great no matter where you are. But when you have a “normal” everyday problem and it’s unique to you. They just treat you as a number. There is no special issues, everything is black and white. No compassion or understanding. If your addiction has mental health issues for staying clean. Stamp very lightly and carefully because there is NO support. In fact quit the opposite. The mental anxiety and hopelessness.they make you feel is beyond comprehension!
I’m literally gonna try my best to take legal action against this place. Not only was the counselor super unprofessional when I came from Oregon to courtesy dose. They told me and my clinic I’d be able to pay weekly. Then the day I get there they demanded payment of both weeks upfront. I had to fly back to CT for my mother’s passing. The comments made by the counselor there were the most awful and unprofessional. Told me diabetics just need to control there eating and opiate addicts in pain need to learn to deal with it. They haven’t heard the last of me and that’s for sure!!! She said welcome to Hartford don’t go and overdose. What kind of counselor speaks to someone with almost a year clean like that?
Want to stay clean and sober run fast run hard from this place. Unless you are willing to let the staff tell you what to do and how it should be done they set you up with a dirty urine and pull your bottles for life. They refuse to curb dose me and I am going to be in two foot cast because I speak the truth. I believe the head person there should be gone before more life's are either ruined or lost. If she doesn't like you kiss your chance of being treated fairly out the window. I am only being honest let's see what happens next. I am detoxing MYSELF because I will not let my life be dependent on a person who HATES me for no reason. Do please BEWARE...

Sent to another town because of someone getting in my face in thw lobby 3 weeks earlier. The staff DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!!! They love the control they have over you! None of them have a clue what they are doing half of them are hood boogers.
WITH THE HELP OF NEW BRITAIN CLINC & MY CONCERLOR I GOT MY LIFE BACK LOVE WHOM I AM NOW WITHOUT THE USE OF THAT JUNK THAT WAS KILLING ME!! THANKS TO THEM IVE BEEN CLEAN SINCE 8/28/97 I THANK YOU WHOM EVER CAME UP WITH THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE THANKS TO THIS PROGRAM I GOT MY LIFE BACK CLEAN FOR 22 YEARS COULDN'T HAD DONE IT WITHOUT THERE HELP??
This clinic seems to have a revolving door where counselors are concerned. There is very little support nor empathy coming from the staff towards the patients. They don't seem to get the concept of addiction. Because as an addict, and as a HUMAN, we are bound to make mistakes. They have a ZERO TOLERANCE system in effect at this place. They should at least give us ONE chance....yet they do not. And the rules change so rapidly and all the time. We never know what we're not supposed to do or what we're supposed to do until we're dealing with a consequence of our mistake. I feel like I have to walk on egg shells, hoping they haven't put another rule into affect that I haven't been informed of, that I may accidentally break. The staff is very unprofessional and rude. They are not, at all, compassionate, nor do they show respect towards the patients/clients....on most occasions. I get sick to my stomach every morning knowing I have to go there. But I'm an addict and would be dead without this medication.
They have been getting better with treating people i have to say now and if u get the right counselor that helps alot to. So they are working out the kinks in the good way.
Great place that allowed me to finally beat a really bad addiction. I have been clean since June 2008 and been doing wonderful ever since and the same place helped my husband.
I wouldn't be where I am today!!!! This clinic has helped me kick my 14 year addiction to Heroin=I'm grateful that this place is here! Today I am living life! Enjoying it! I have found myself again and I love who I am today!!!!!! I've been clean since November 6th 2013!!!! ?????????❤??
