The people who work here are very wonderful. They were kind and compassionate and when you're going through a tough time and your car gets towed, they just seem to really understand. They helped me and my 86-year-old dad and I can't give them enough praises.
Just bought a car here. And it's painfully obvious why they STRESS their no return policy...
As advertised, the car wasn't much to look at. It ran good and during a short test drive in the yard it felt solid on it's wheels and steering. I asked if it would pass smog and was told it should due to the fact that there wasn't any engine lights ect on. He even came down $250 on the price.
First off... I and the person I was with take responsibility for not knowing much about cars beyond the basics. Neither of us have ever crawled under and completely inspected a car prior to purchase. Wouldn't have known what we were looking at honestly. And given the repetitive "all sales final, no return policy" reminders given, we obviously were aware we can't even throw the thing back over the fence if we wanted to.
We didn't even get to drive the car more than 25 miles...
The check engine light came on, we went to AutoZone and used their OBD2... Threw code P0420. Bad Cats. On the way home... The front end started making a loud noise, it sounds like it's coming apart. So had that looked at... The front transfer case had a crack and a a piece of it missing. The mechanic that looked at it was shocked and said it shouldn't have been able to drive away from their lot.
It is almost double the purchase price to have it repaired. Also, they took the plates off, and at this point I believe they did that to hide the fact that it had substantial reg delinquency. Didn't see the sticker on the plate and when I asked about fees I was told they didn't have that information. Another duh move on our part.
In conclusion... We spent more than $1000 buying this vehicle. We had asked all the appropriate questions, and take responsibility for not knowing a lot about vehicles. Yet I believe they absolutely knew about the mechanical problems and the back fees, and they ABSOLUTELY took advantage of our lack of knowledge. We had been without a vehicle for over a year, scraping and saving every penny to afford one. Now we don't have the money nor a vehicle we can drive.
So either way... Please learn from their lack of conscience and unethical business practices, or our stupidity. I wouldn't give them the time of day... But if you do, I hope you know a lot about cars!

I am not surprised by the negative reviews and hope the last reviewer DID report this business to State Boards and file complaints with PD and Sheriffs. They are contracted with law enforcement and so have us hostage, able to price gouge because we have no options, and then treat us however they see fit because they don’t see us as customers. This process is already incredibly demeaning, so to have to wait over 30 minutes for someone to even COME TO THE FRONT DESK so that I can pay them nearly $1000 for less than a week of forced tow storage is atrocious.

It's apparent the police have a contract with this place which goes to show with their terrible customer service. Since they are contracted they have no incentive to provide any customer service. The hours of operation are predatory with very limited hours because then they can charge you more for an extra day. I will be filling a complaint with the state of California consumer affairs to review this contract and another complaint to the police department because this partnership with this towing company is scamming the public.
This company breaks laws and steals vehicles then you can't find a working number for them. They stole my car that wasn't illegally parked. Hadn't been there for more then a day. Never got tagged nothing just stole it. It's criminal and they should be taken to court and charged for grand theft because I'm sure I'm not the only person they've stolen from. I owned the car it is mine and now it's gone sold or whatever they do with their stolen property I'd be in jail if I did what they are doing.
This tow company broke the window of my vehicle in the process of towing it and claimed they have photos of it being damaged prior to the tow but refuse to show me the photos claiming they are “confidential.”
Response to the business: I have not been given any photos of the window that you claim you didn’t break by anyone. You could have shown me the alleged proof on the day of the tow but here we are, over a month later and I still have not seen any proof. Even if anyone bothers to provide me this alleged proof, I will not change my overall review of your company. I am not the only person who has had a similar experience with you as evidenced by your multiple negative reviews.
Jamie in the office is GREAT! She was professional, kind, helpful and went above and beyond what she needed to do to help me. My husband was involved in a car accident that resulted in his car being towed from the scene. Jamie helped us to locate the vehicle (even though this was definitely not required of her!) all while maintaining a professional and positive attitude. I would highly recommend LJ's towing to anyone needing their services. Thank you again!!!!
Was just in a bad car accident due to the weather, and have not been having the best of times health wise, and seeing the condition my car is in you'd think they would have a little bit of sympathy, maybe speak politely and professionally. Nope. Everytime I have personally spoken to anybody about my car there, they have been incredibly rude and snotty! Y'all need to learn some customer service.

Lj’s towing drivers, some are aggressive drivers when driving a tow truck and try to intimidate others with their vehicles if you happened to drive in front of them to use the same lane they are driving on. It looks like management needs to install video cameras to curtail the idiocy of some of their drivers. Let’s hope they are treating customers better than they are capable of driving.
My car stalled in the fast lane on the freeway, and these guys arrived in the blink of an eye! The driver's emphasis on safety put my frazzled mind at ease, and he was particularly cautious with my car. They truly went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable. Thank you LJ's!!!
Just got off the phone with the owner. He was following my car too closely - speeding - in a 25 mph SCHOOL ZONE on Cirby Way. There was a graduation and pedestrians were attempting to cross the busy road. AS PEDESTRIANS ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY, I slowed to a stop to allow them to pass. The owner - as is reviewed several times as being unable to drive safely - didn't want to stop so he laid on his horn. My 10 yr old son turned to look at him and he flipped him off. I called to report the driver as that is no way to conduct a business and turns out it is the owner, who says I slammed on my brakes. Although I did not, I am certain it does not warrant flipping off a child. I doubt he has a real successful business, but I can't imagine anyone trusting him with transporting their vehicle given the review history of erratic driving AND charming manners.
Such friendly, wonderful staff that was a real pleasure to deal with. Watch out for their scamming practices where they ask for a credit card then say they don't accept that credit card but the transaction goes through anyway.
Sadly got my Mustang towed a couple times and both times this conpany was professional. Answered the phone, got me the info I needed to get my baby back. I don't recommend getting your car towed but if it happens you better hope this is the yard that gets it.
Worst place in the world. They work for county code enforcement they have a contract with them and the cops. They towed my fathers car for code enforcement eventho i had tried to tell CE i was trying to get the car moved out of the driveway into the garage. They stole a car then when my father tried to ask them if he could get the tools my deceased mother gave him out of the trunk they said no and laughed. These people are EVIL.
Recklessly driving on the freeway. Tailgating and weaving through stopped traffic. Maybe that’s how they stay in business by trying to cause accidents.
My car got a flat on the freeway yesterday at 6pm came back three hours later to fix it. Nope! Its gone. After calling around finally found that lj towing has my car. It is now the next morning and they want $326.00 to release it. Screw this place! I feel like stanley ipkiss at the auto shop. These greedy people are worse than PS5 & Xbox scalpers!
The employee could not explain what an “extended price” meant even when this extended price more than doubled the cost of the tow. Hopefully others get a chance to call their insurance for a tow if they are transported via ambulance after an accident (like we were). I hope CHP stop using this place.

Did not inform me an appointment was required then refused to remove the $115 fee. Absolutely criminal. A tow of 1.5 miles and 22 hours of storage turned into $430.
LJ's towing Company is a joke. the guy on the phone was rude. lied to us about the cost. And lied saying they were never in our car when there's Permatex all over the back seat. They're the same company on 809 Reading st. And 2600 North Avenue. Don't call this Tow company.
This place towed my vehicle from my appartment complex when it had my sticker in window. Called me 5 days later since I reported it stolen and stuck it to me. Said they found it in north natomis. When I got back to the apartments I seen that they were the tow company the appartments had a contract with to tow.
I mean I guess they didn't do anything wrong. But it is hard to give someone 5 stars when you're having to pay to get your car back from a tow yard. They can at least put free candy out by the cash register.
My car had damage from the tow that was not there before. Then after we paid our bill for the car sitting in the yard, we got another bill in the mail saying if we did not pay the bill, my car was going to be sold. I have the recipt for the bill we ALREADY paid.
Way over priced. $220 per hour? with 1 hour minimum. Hell a medical surgeon doesn't charge this much per hour. If you need a tow, I would look else where....I'm sure other towing companies charge much less than this
the one on land avenue is awesome they are a great family and very fair on prices I brought several cars there and plan to buy several more shout-out Ed Jr. shout out Wife Michelle keep up the good work
