On vacation in Mammoth Lakes when the change oil message appeared on the dashboard monitor. I was reluctant to drive home without getting the service done, they squeezed me in same day, did the oil change plus checked/topped off the other fluids.

Disappointing and Dangerous Experience I was traveling through the Eastern Sierras when I realized I needed my front brake pads replaced. Thankfully, Figueroa’s was able to fit me in for a same-day appointment — that responsiveness earns them one star. Unfortunately, everything after that was a letdown. I was told the service would take 2 hours, which gave us a chance to enjoy Mammoth Village. Instead, the job took over 6 hours, with no proactive updates — just waiting around with vague reassurances. More concerning, though, were the issues with the actual service: 1. Brake Safety: Somehow, air was introduced into the brake lines during a simple pad replacement — something that shouldn’t happen. They couldn’t properly bleed the brakes and claimed the issue was with my vehicle, which had no prior problems. The result was a dangerously soft brake pedal feel. 2. Improper Installation: Most alarmingly, they severely overtorqued one lug nut and under-tightened others. This caused one stud to snap entirely and left two lug nuts on the same wheel dangerously loose. While driving on the highway, the wheel began to shake violently and nearly came off. I had to pull over immediately and get towed to another shop for urgent repairs. They may be one of the more readily available shops in Mammoth — and in a pinch, that matters. But beware: convenience came at the cost of quality and safety in my case. This wasn’t just poor service — it was dangerous. I’m very fortunate nothing worse happened.

My alternator broke. Even though they are really busy they fit me in as soon as they could so I’m not stuck at Mammoth Lakes. Wonderful owner, honest people, and excellent service. I’m really grateful for their help and cannot recommend this place high enough.

Great above and beyond service. The mechanic was randomly there on the weekend and took time to analyze and fix the issue with my car which was very handy given I needed to drive back 5-6 hours to home. Absolutely recommend.

I called and Jorge did an oil change immediately - no wait time. He also saw my side mirror was broken and fixed it right then and there for a good price. Gave advice on my tires as well. Very friendly, prompt and clear communication. Great experience!

Jorge is a kind, wonderful man who is beyond fair. He helped us with my VW van but ultimately we had to take the van to a German car specialist to get necessary parts. Still I really appreciated Jorge's taking the time to check my car out and see if he could fix it. Such honesty and friendly service is so appreciated!!

Phenomenal service Jorge explained the situation with my Honda-CRV’s radiator cap and the check engine lights codes that came on. He also went above and beyond the ne to explain to me what oil would be best to minimize my engine burning it. Thank you!!!

We were towed there because our serpentine belt broke. I called George that morning and told him what happened and he ordered the belt immediately. We were towed there around 12 and by three we were in our campsite ready to go. So glad he made it possible for us to continue our vacation. Excellent service I would highly recommend them.

Jorge helped us when our car was overheating climbing the grade north of Bishop on 395. Our destination was 68 miles north at Twin Lake with terrible cell service. He let us have it towed to his shop. He correctly diagnosed a corroded radiator cap.and repaired it dor a reasonable price.

My car overheated Thursday night 30 min. north of Mammoth on my way to Idaho from LA. The tow truck driver recommended Figueroa. This is Mammoth people, so set your expectations appropriately. Figueroa was the only shop who even promised to look at my car same day. They let me know upfront that if I had an issue with a hose there was a good chance I'd be there over the weekend. They were able to identify the issue by noon and had me back on the road by 4pm. They were also careful to pressure test my radiator system to ensure there were no issues other than the one they fixed. I finished my drive to Idaho and the return trip to LA with no issues (in 105F heat). Much love.

Jorge saved the day and was so helpful. Right off the bat did some research on our issues and took our word for what we thought was going on. Especially with us living out of the van, he let us stay in the lot overnight since we had to wait for parts to come in. Most wholesome and helpful mechanic I’ve ever worked with.

So helpful and kind and competent. They fixed our car right away and did a great job. Would go back if we ever needed car repairs in Mammoth. These folks deserve your business - they are great!

Taking a trip and my AC quit and the engine was making a terrible noise. Found Jorge's shop on line with good ratings so took the car there. You will not find a nicer, more honest, knowledgeable and trustworthy person to take your car to. He was communicative and timely with the work that needed to be performed. My only regret is I don't live closer so he could service my car full time! PS - Stop by Friday evening and he might be performing...he is known as the singing mechanic and has quite the sound system!

Jorge is magic! My car broke down here in August coming from Utah. Jorge is one of the greatest most honest humans I have had the honor of meeting. He has the highest integrity for the work he does. He's honest and a knows his stuff. If in Mammoth go nowhere else. If you're questioning where to go near** Mammoth go here. Can't say enough good things about this business.

Was having brake issues on the way to our vacation in Mammoth. Based on the symptoms I was experiencing, I thought it might be the rotors. Did a search for local mechanics in Mammoth and after some research, I had a good feeling about taking the car to Figueroa's. I called the shop and spoke to the owner Jorge who was very kind and a great listener. He agreed that the rotors could be the issue and was willing to bring in new ones as well as other potential parts needed without a deposit or even meeting me in person first. Dropped the car off the following morning and I had it back fixed before noon! Price was extremely fair and Jorge is a throwback handshake type of guy which goes really far with me. I highly recommend Figueroa's Auto and it will be the first place I go if I ever have any car issues again while in the Sierras!

Jorge works on all our cars, has for several years. He's honest, fair, and skilled--exactly what you want in a mechanic. He's also very careful with mask-wearing and maintaining relevant distances. Highly recommend.

Jorge was able to help us with a large oil leak that was the result of a mistake by the dealer. He got us quickly back on the road. He was knowledgeable, honest and fair. I would strongly recommend him.

Life saver!!! Jorge took care of a heavy oil leak in our car the day before we had to drive to Colorado. His work was fast and efficient. Best of vibes. Don't think twice if you need to get your car fixed while you are in Mammoth!

Worst case scenario saved by Jorge! While we were on our way back to Mammoth from Yosemite, we were comin down the grade on the 120 with our kids and in-laws, and my hubby and I looked at each other somewhat in horror as our brakes started to shake. Thankfully, hubby was driving and downshifted down the mountain and we made it home safe & sound. Next morning, Jorge replaced our rotors and said our pads still had enough life in them and didn’t need replacing. We did not pay a penny more than we would have at home. He was kind and courteous and joked about taking our car up to Mammoth from SCV next time it needs service. Thank you Jorge!!!

We were in mammoth on vacation and noticed our brakes were bad. We didnt want to chance it so going in we knew it was going to cost a lot. We were so pleasantly surprised when we took the car to Figueroa. He was so kind and got us in the next morning. He charged a fair price and got the job done very quickly. He would definitely be our mechanic if we lived in the area.

We were visiting Mammoth when our van started leaking transmission fluid then overheated-- I was hesitant about going to an auto shop that I didn't know well, but saw Figueroa's had good reviews, so we had our van towed there. In the parking lot, a local assured us we were in good hands, and we were! We were feelin' kind of low after our car troubles, and were sure that our van was done for, but Jorge was a shining light, and he took care of us and miraculously got us back on the road by the end of the day-- despite the shop being busy! He and his team are SO knowledgeable and thorough, and they were reasonably priced, especially considering how rural the area is. Thank you Figueroa's for getting us home!!

I had a broken wiper during a snowstorm. I went to Chevron in Mammoth, they told me to take off my wiper and bring it inside, without even determining what the problem was. I left, I brought it to Figueroa's, he welcomed me with a smile, fixed it in 5 minutes. I asked him how much? He said, don't worry about it. I tipped him well, and worth every penny. This shop is the best in Mammoth.

I had to get all 4 brakes replaced while on vacation. Jorge gave me a quote before starting any work. He was very friendly and seemed very trustworthy when I spoke to him on the phone. They were able to replace all 4 brakes same day. Price was very fair - what I would've paid anywhere else (no premium for being in a resort town, nor were there any hidden fees). So glad I found an honest mechanic while I was in a bind on vacation

It's rare to come across mechanics who actually care about you, your vehicle, & are NOT out to take advantage of the situation. Jorge is awesome. And I am extremely grateful for him fixing my car so we can get back to Ohio. Thank you.

Jorge saved my bacon! While on route to Yosemite, our radiator failed. Jorge went to extreme measures to get us back on the road. Besides sending someone all the way to Bishop after hours to pick up a replacement, he worked until 10:30pm to get the job done. Plus his price was very reasonable. Highly recommended!

We were vacationing in Mammoth over the Christmas Break when my wife noticed red fluid dripping from the engine compartment on my Suburban. I thought "Great! It's a Sunday before Christmas, I'm in Mammoth, and we have a plane to catch Wednesday in Los Angeles. We're screwed! I asked the condo manager where we were staying for advice, and he recommended Figueroa's Auto. He said they do a good job and charge a fair price. I called the number in the phone book and Jorge, the owner, said he would be happy to meet me at his shop behind McDonald's. He was there promplty, diagnosed a leaking water pump, and quickly located a replacement part in Bishop. My experience with him was more than just professional. He explained that he had to drive to Bishop that afternoon anyway, so he would pick up the part for me. He gave me a ride back to my condo, and I learned that he has been in Mammoth for 25 years, has been working on cars since the age of 16, and recently passed his U.S. Citizenship exam. Wow. Jorge is a very proud and amiable family man, and he handled my car repair promtly and honestly. The next morning he had my car back together, running great, and I paid the same for this water pump repair as I paid six years ago for the same job from my local mechanic. If I ever have another breakdown in Mammoth, Mr. Figueroa will have my business. I highly recommend his services.

Great Worker, super nice. Best prices, and he gives rides to where you want to go while the work is being done. A+ service and was able to install my level kit on my Tacoma with no issues in a great fast time. Highly Recommend and will use again!
