I took my 2012 VW GTi in for annual service (I used to go to the dealers shop in SF). They found a bunch of stuff that needed to be replaced, much more than I had expected, but I agreed with it all (they provided photos). I also had smashed the exterior right side mirror and getting a replacement for that proved difficult. It finally came but was not painted so I got them to just take the needed parts out of the new one and put them into the old undamaged old case. I rather doubt the dealer shop would have entertained that plan. So while it was all a lot going wrong, in the end it all worked out and they did good work. I have since taken the car back to get a new battery installed. As before it was all upfront pricing, no upselling and done well and on time.

The nicest people ever! They even call you an uber there and back so you don't have to worry about transportation. We get our Mercedez serviced and parts replaced there.

They Do Not Honor 3-Year Warranty I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. I scheduled an appointment and was never informed that the service I needed had been “discontinued.” Instead, I was told the evening before my appointment that it was suddenly cancelled. That level of communication is unacceptable and highly unprofessional. What makes this worse is that I have a confirmed 3-year warranty. When I asked about honoring that warranty, instead of receiving a clear and respectful explanation, I was met with dismissiveness and ultimately felt threatened during the conversation. No customer should ever feel intimidated simply for asking about coverage they were told they have. If a business offers warranties, they should stand behind them. Canceling appointments last minute, failing to disclose discontinued services upfront, and responding to legitimate warranty questions with hostility reflects very poorly on how this company operates. I would strongly caution others to get everything in writing and think carefully before relying on their warranty promises. My experience was stressful, unprofessional, and completely avoidable.

The mechanics are top notch. They color code any work that has to be done and help you prioritize. They also provide Uber service.

Absolutely loved my experience with German Auto Sport. Such a wonderful team with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. From start to finish I felt at peace with my service! Special thank you to Josh and James!

I won’t take my car anywhere else. They worked really hard to find a car part and managed to save me around $3000. Super friendly staff. I trust them.

Had a mystery coolant leak and GAS determined the source of the leak and a few other items that needed attention to keep my car running smoothly. It's nice to find a reliable mechanic that guarantees their work and provides photos/details of repairs.

my 26 year old mini cooper “S” 6 speed manual transmission convertible recently had necessary upgrades here. It runs like a top & I still love driving it as it goes! Thank you to the great guys at German Auto Sport! I am happy.

I've taken my car in for service or repairs 3 or 4 times. Everyone is friendly and communicative. Each time I’ve brought my car in they have been straightforward about what work needs to be done. I feel informed about what needs to be done now and what work I will need done down the road.

Super pleased with the overall level of service and communication. I really appreciated the thorough inspection and fair discussion of what work needed to be performed. Highly recommended!

5 stars. I’ve owned an Audi and have been taking it to German Auto Sport for several years. Their service is consistently professional and reliable. Josh Oterry at the front desk does an excellent job managing communication and keeping the process efficient from start to finish with the paperwork and booking you a complimentary ride home. The technicians in the shop, including James, along with the owner Chris, deliver high-quality and great work. German Auto Sport stands out for how they use technology. They send text service reminders, provide photos of recommended repairs, and follow up with a call so you can clearly approve or decline the work. They explain what needs immediate attention, what can wait, and how everything fits within your budget. The recommendations are practical and transparent, not upsell-driven. Pricing is excellent, and the value is far better than dealership service. I would never take my car back to an Audi dealership in the Bay Area. German Auto Sport is my go-to shop and I highly recommend them. Thank you, German Auto Sport team.

I highly recommend this place. I have a Mini Cooper. My car is very specialized so finding a trusted mechanic that will use the proper parts is difficult. Harder still to find mechanics that do great work. When I walked into German Auto Sport, I was greeted with a smile and excellent customer service. The price given was reasonable. The explanation of the problem was no non-sense and the people working there are hella likeable. Anyway, they do great work.

It’s rare to find an auto shop you genuinely trust. They take the time to dig into the details and truly understand what’s happening with your car, and they do it with real kindness and support. Their pricing is fair, but the level of care they offer is what keeps me coming back. I honestly feel tempted to stick with German cars just so I can keep working with them.

I had my BMW serviced at German Auto Sport and was very satisfied with the experience. The team clearly understands BMWs and works with a high level of technical competence. Diagnostics were accurate, recommendations were reasonable, and there was no pressure to approve unnecessary work. Communication was clear throughout the process—everything was explained in detail, including what was urgent and what could wait. Pricing was fair for the level of expertise, and the work was completed on time as promised. It is evident this shop specializes in German vehicles and takes pride in doing things correctly rather than quickly. I would confidently recommend German Auto Sport to anyone looking for reliable, knowledgeable BMW service outside of a dealership.

Exceptional service by a friendly and thorough staff. My 2017 Porsche Macan had a coolant system leak. They not only quickly diagnosed the problem but gave me a list of additional work that may need attention. They supplied a complete breakdown of costs by tasks allowing me to review and approve what I deemed necessary both functionally and financially. Highly recommend this shop!!

The team at German Auto Sport does a fantastic job. They’re fast, thorough, and always provide clear explanations for the work they’re doing and why they suggest it, without upsells. If you want experts working on your car, this is the place.

Alex and the team at German Auto sports are amazing. Their communication, expertise and prices can’t be beat. I recommend their business without any reservations. Thank you!

Transparent pricing, solid workmanship and really nice guys! They showed me some other things that will need attention soon but not immediately (no pressure on the work). Also, they replaced a headlight one time for a good price on the fly while I waited, and showed me how to do it myself without me even asking! I love this place.

If you love your Mini this is the place to bring it. My first experience with German Auto Sport was in 2022. My 2012 Mini had been leaking oil for 7 yrs - the dealership looked at it many times and offered fixes that didn't stick. When I finally took my car to these guys, it was a costly fix for a 10 yr old car. But, my Mini was given a new lease on life :) Last month the car died suddenly (like a plug had been pulled) and my local shop couldn't figure out the problem. In fact, couldn't reproduce the problem and no error was reported in the system. Alex at GAS felt confident it was the SPEG and fuel pump. The crew had the car ready to go the next day. Nice people and they really know their stuff!

Josh, Alex, James, and the rest of the team at GAS are awesome. They are friendly, knowledgable, and genuinely care about customer's cars. The service is reasonably priced and fast too!

I cannot recommend GAS highly enough. We've been customers for years and recently brought in our car with a serious engine problem. GAS spent nearly three days on it, going from induction coils to valve issues to a compression test, concluded that we'd need a new cylinder head (for a repair far north of $7K), and actually recommended we don't do it given the age and history of the car. Best of all, they decided not to charge us anything for the whole process. They were professional, clear, and helpful throughout, and offered plenty of advice for a new ride. Highly recommended!

I brought my 2016 Audi Q3 to German Auto Sport hoping to avoid high dealership prices — especially their $250/hr labor rate. Unfortunately, I ended up paying $1,607 just for labor to replace a water pump, which is far more than what’s typical for this job. According to Audi’s own service guide, this repair usually takes about 4 hours of labor, which means even at dealer rates I would have paid less — and likely received a loaner vehicle as well. I expected an independent shop to be more reasonable, but instead, I left feeling taken advantage of. If you’re considering bringing your Audi here, I recommend asking for a detailed written estimate and comparing it to the dealer’s quote first. Very disappointing experience — I won’t be returning.

I had a great experience with Alex, who took a look at my 986 Boxster right away and was personable, professional, and honest. I’d be happy to bring my car back here next time it needs something. Highly recommended!

497 reviews?? Let's get 500+!!! I can't believe my Google account is not showing me a review that I wrote a few years ago! Time to add another.... Chris and the team at German Auto Sport will repair your car with grace, patience, and care. His team of exceptionally qualified technicians will go to whatever length is necessary to keep your car on the road. I met Chris many moons ago, through mutual car club contacts.... It really is a small world. If you have an older European car, this is THE spot. Chris personally had two of the same type of car I owned, back then; one, he was daily driving, and the other, he built to race. When you enjoy what you do, THAT much, it shows in all kinds of places. Integrity, knowledge, passion, skill, understanding. They've done something great here.... Give them a call. Make an appointment. Maybe you'll end up feeling like I do! Let's go!!!!! 😄💯🙏😎

They fixed the situation that I came in there for plus like most automotive repair shops. They found other shit that needed to be fixed and it really did and they did it. One last comment, Chris the owner was a pleasure to talk to. He is a type of person that if you met in another environment, you would enjoy having a conversation with.

Brought my m4 in for an oil change. Staff was really friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Price was right and work was exemplary. Took a little longer than anticipated but wasn’t really a big deal for me. I’d definitely use them again.

I can’t say enough good things about these guys and the shop. Brought my car in and got a thorough and honest inspection, everyone there was friendly and respectful and super helpful, especially Josh, who I worked with at the front, and James, who was my mechanic. They didn’t pressure me, they explained everything in detail, and I recommend them to anyone, genuinely.

Overall the experience was good. However one thing that’s comes to mind is-when I picked up the car and drove it home that’s when I noticed the the fuse box cover was removed after I contacted the shop and I was told the fuse box cover was removed for safety consideration because of tape put around box to secure the cover in place. That’s fine. However there was no mention of that by car desk associate at time of pickup. I get it everyone busy. So, if that old cover was left on passenger side floor or highlighted in invoice notes that would have alerted me that I need to get a recycled fuse box cover for the fuses.Overall, I have brought my car there for number of years, repairs and customer service has always been good.

Love these guys. They are super knowledgeable, personable and thorough. I really appreciate the rideshare service, the text messaging to let me know the status and general troubleshooting offered. This is now my second BMW I’m putting in this team’s care because they are the only guys I trust!

I have been going to German Auto Sport for many years to maintain my 2003 lovely BMW in excellent condition! They do! I always have a great experience. They answer all my questions. I get good advice. When something needs correcting, they do it without any problem. Recently had an inspection and oil change done, and my car felt like new driving out! Highly recommend them!
