Saw a listing for a 13 Hyundai Genesis. Called about it couple times with multiple people stating it was a good vehicle nothing wrong with it only to show up from Texas with a car diagnostic computer reading 25 fault codes that they most likely cleared themselves, brakes needed a master cylinder, an alignment that they would not work on themselves. Salesmen knew nothing about vehicles stating they only drive the vehicles to make sure they drive and that’s it. Beware of this business trying to take advantage of you and your money.

I wouldn't recommend anyone go to this place to buy a car. Of course the first day that I went to get my 2015 Chevy Cruze the people were very nice but when I brought it home and tried to ask for a refund plus my car I traded for the car they flat out said NO to me and said that I had to buy my car back from them to get it back! I had taken my Cruze to the shop near my house and they said that I had a white goo in the coolant! I have spent a lot of money trying to fix the car but now I can't fix the car anymore! Whatever you do DON'T get a car from this place! You will regret it! I sure have! Because I have been lied to mine and my husband's face!

I drove to this place specifically to look at a Ford Explorer for my teenage son. We were treated terrible by the wee little man with the handlebar mustache. The first 10 minutes of the visit went well, but when I started asking about a Carfax (which I always do when buying any preowned care…I just assumed all dealers want to be transparent) it started going bad. When I was told that thy didn’t run Carfax because it cost them $50, I began to ask about the history of the car. I was rudely told he didn’t have any history of the car that all he knew is that it came from a Ford dealership. Before I could finish stating that I didn’t feel comfortable buying a preowned car without a Carfax…the miniature salesman says “oh well” and jumps into the driver seat and pulls the car away from us. I stood there in astonishment. I told my son to get in the car so we could leave. And I am so glad that we did because we had the most amazing experience at Motor Cars of Birmingham, and walked away today with the perfect Explorer for my son and peace of mind that my child would be safe. And they didn’t mind one bit about showing me the Carfax, because unlike Auto Mart, they didn’t have anything to hide! To the little wee salesman, I am so sorry that your Little Man Syndrome got the best of you today. The way you treated us did not make you a “big man” it made you look like an absolute idiot!!!! But at the end of the day you did us a favor! Be careful when doing business with this place…they are so shady!!!!!!

My husband drove out of the way to look at a car and test drive it. He was asked “are you ready to buy tonight?” -like before he even drove it! When he said he was ready to test drive (he has cash in hand to purchase a car for our son) the man said the owner doesn’t like people to drive cars they unless they are going to buy. ??????? I’m sorry, who buys a car without test driving? And who commits to a purchase before a test drive?!?! The “salesman”’(is he tho? He clearly didn’t want to make a sale with us…) was RUDE!!!

Don’t waste your time driving all the way out here. I was told I couldn’t test drive a car unless I was ready to buy the car. How do you know if you want to buy a car unless you test drive the car? I HAVE CASH!

Recently purchased my very first car from them. They're kind and the process was quick. The car runs and operates wonderfully 10000/10 would absolutely recommend!

Phew I just got off the phone the front desk, She has no sense of salesmanship and I get it. That’s not her job however, wherever the owner is should fire her. Reason being she just told me when I was looking for a specific vehicle that it was not available (Not running & In the shop) at the time and didn’t even make the effort to offer me something else. (2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT; Also found out by purchasing a full vehicle report; the owner of this place is selling a truck that has framed damage and according to the report it’s severe) What’s even worse her very unfriendly tone of voice as if my phone call was an inconvenience to her. It took five times for her to answer the phone and I get it. People tend to say “well we’re busy” but it’s 4 o’clock in the afternoon. I’m pretty sure she’s not that busy. No wonder this place is a two star rating…. 😭😭😭😭

Bought a Honda Civic from them for my husband’s work car to put miles on to Montgomery everyday. It runs great and is dependable! It’s a 2009 out shines his old work car that was a 2016 KIA Soul. Blessed is a understatement to how happy we are with this car!

***PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING*** This place is a HUGE scam I purchased a vehicle and the same day I got it, the car broke down on the way home. I immediately called “Kristen” to let her know that this was unacceptable and that I had not even made it home. She tries to ease the situation and told me she was going to get a tow truck and put the car in the shop asap and call me first thing as soon as she found out something 4 days later she calls and swears the car is fixed I asked if she replaced what she originally told me what was wrong with the car after it broke down (sensor for the transmission) and she said No it was only trash on it and it’s fine and ready for pickup. Needless to say on the way home it broke down again. All her “mechanics” did was clear the codes for the check engine light to turn off… had my mechanic to come out and take a look at and everything and anything wrong with the transmission was wrong with it. Needed to be replaced asap. Thankfully I put my foot down and demanded a refund and the owner agreed that I deserved a refund. Kristen was very snobbish and rude and I’m so glad i DO NOT have to deal with her anymore. She tried to play me like a fool and she DOES NOT CARE who she screws over aslong as she gets her cut. Ridiculous place of business, I have no idea how they are even legally able to stay open. Such a HORRIBLE experience!!!

Horrible experience. Don’t buy from them. I purchased a car and had a misfire on cylinder 2 so I had a tune up right after purchasing and less than 1 week later the same cylinder 2 misfired again. So I had to replace it again and once again less than 1 week later the same thing happened and I replaced it again and now it’s been replaced 3 times all within the first 30 days after purchasing the car. I was told that cylinder 2 was bad and I now need a new engine. The company refused to assist me any further. I purchased a lemon and they know it. The least the company could have done was worked with me to either sell them the car back or help replace the engine.

I've shopped here before when looking for used cars, but never bought one until this week when I helped a friend buy her car. The employees are all very nice and the purchase process was incredibly fast, painless and totally pressure-free. The salesman I dealt with was very clear that he is not on commission, yet he was still very helpful. The owner and his daughter run the office and they were both friendly and efficient. They've been in business this for 18 years, so they know what they are doing. I've literally spent more time checking out a Best Buy than it took to buy a car here. Just understand that this dealership sells USED CARS. They purchase them at wholesale and resell them for a reasonable, no-haggle price. They don't recondition the cars. They don't warranty them. They really know nothing about these cars - it's up to you do decide if it fits your needs and is in decent condition. The cars may have dents and dings and other problems. If you are looking for a warranty or to haggle over the price, or worry about every imperfection, then go elsewhere and pay more and deal with high-pressure salespeople. But if you need inexpensive transportation sold by friendly and efficient people, this is the place.

The owner of Automart South ( Phillip Roders ) has got to be one of the best car dealers around my area... I bought a vehicle from him about 3 weeks ago and after driving it for a few days we had to have if checked because it had an oil leak. We went back to talk to him about it and he is going to have it fixed. I have bought several vehicles from him and he is honest and a pleasure to do business with.

If I could give a zero I would. Purchased vehicle, the owner himself talked about how awesome the vehicle was and told stories about his 2 daughters would drive this car. I listened to stories on how much he spent on his oldest daughter’s wedding and his other daughter works there after leaving the restaurant business. He stated how reliable this vehicle was and had no problems. Well, 2 days later check engine came on. It was downhill from there. He was going to help with some parts since we paid so much for the vehicle. Later, He acted like he had barely spoke to us, would not return calls. Shortly after, while driving to work the vehicle literally caught fire and burnt up. $9400 for the vehicle. This was the worst experience ever. The night purchased, he even got mad because we were trying to get the car to connect to phone after purchasing. Said that it something that can be done later. Also, only allowed to drive around a small circle. They state for insurance purposes, not allowed to take for inspection. How do they stay in business?? Pass on this place.

My family has been buying cars from Automart South for years, so when I was ready to buy a car It was a 2006 Toyota Camry. It was a fair deal I didn’t feel scammed and they explained everything. I was able to pay it off in a short amount of time and even through COVID THEY WERE VERY UNDERSTANDING. Unfortunately I was in an accident with an irresponsible driver. I knew I wanted to come back to Automart South I purchased a 2011 Suburu Forrester for an amazing price and great mechanical condition. I couldn’t be more happy. Anytime I need or want a car I can always depend on Automart South and they always provide great customer service. Kristen is always kind and very personable. To the salesman who I can’t remember his name THANK YOU SO MUCH. Recommend 10/10

Let me first say, I've NEVER been to a car lot! I've always bought from individuals. I had no idea what this place did to me wasn't normal! They allowed me to test drive the vehicles. But I was only allowed to go less than half a mile, if that. They said for insurance purposes, which made sense. I finally purchased a 2010 chevy equinox. I've had the car since late February. So far I've had to have a severe oil leak fixed TWICE! The cadylic converter was shot. The exhaust manifold was horribly cracked. The CV axles had to be replaced. Timing chain was bad and the car had partially jumped time. Drift shafts had to be replaced. I could keep going but whoever is reading this, I hope you get the picture. I paid $9,000 for this car. With financing, it became $12,000. I've spent $6,000 in two months on parts and labor. I'm so thankful I financed (I needed to raise my credit score) instead of paying out right. Had I paid out right. I would have a $9,000 vehicle broke down in my driveway. By financing I had the money to get these problems fixed. PLEASE stay away from this place. I don't care how desperate you are! You'll be up poo creek without a paddle if you go here. I honestly don't see how this place is even open! The vehicles look nice but under the hood their straight garbage. They also have a way of covering up the garbage (per my mechanic).

We bought a Nissan Minivan from Automart South today!! It was a good experience!! The salesman Mike was honest and very helpful!! We test drove and signed papers in less than an hour!! Kristen was quick getting our paperwork together (we have 5 kids so we didn't want to have to sit and wait lol) and was very nice through the whole process!! Will buy here again!!

I bought a Ford Explorer from them a couple of months ago. Kristen and Jim were really great. The car had a little over 100K on in when I drove out. The price was right and the car has performed like a charm. The first thing I did was change the oil for AMSOIL, a 100% synthetic lube. Great people. Great car. No complaints.

Jim and Kristin run a good business model. They are selling cars in wholesale condition to the public which saves customers money vs buying a front line vehicle. You must understand these cars have not been through the reconditioning process and are AS-IS. I have bought 2 cars from them and they have been extremely honest and willing to work with me as long as my requests are reasonable. Some of the other reviews seem to be people feeling they got an inferior product, remember these are NOT front line ready they are freshly traded units that have not gone through the shop process. I will definitely go see them next time I am in the market for an older unit for my children.

My experience was very positive. The staff were helpful and took time to answer questions. There were no force to sell or pressure to buy. The decision was left up to the buyer. I purchased a vehicle and did not feel cheated. I did comparison shopping before the purchase. I believe I got a good deal. Thanks.

Purchased a Honda Oddyssey from here in 2016(2500 down). While test driving it seemed to run fine. Within two weeks of purchase the vehicle started what I thought was the transmission slipping. I took it to Honda and had to spend another 2500 to have timing belt AND a leaky power steering pump replaced! I will not buy from them again.

Do NOT give these people your money!! You will most definitely be getting ripped off. I bought a car from here and it did great for the first two weeks. After that I have had nothing but problems. The guy told me it was one of the best cars on the lot and he would trust it for his sister or mother. If that was one of the best I would hate to see the others!

They buy cheap cars that don't work and prey on people that can't afford anything more. Lost my entire life savings on a car that does not work at all not (won't even start). They know how to rig up cars for it to seem decent, but will entirely break down before you get home. Speaking from experience because it was fine when I test drove (they won't let you take it on the interstate) and it broke down on my way home. Would not take the car back that day either

This is the worst place to go. All their vehicles will need a motor or transmission within the first 300 miles you leave. I read some reviews and went ahead and gave them a chance. Worse mistake ever!! I have had the xterra 9 days which i have drove 2 times. It has been towed 3 times n has been in 4 shops in 9 days. After buying this vehicle for $5000 I have spent another $1000 on tow fees and fixes and now I am looking at $3600 for a new transmission. On a car all I got to do was drive it home twice. The sales guy flirts the whole time and guaranteed that his company will work with people the first days if something major happened with motor or transmission. Big Lie! The first problem i had was the radiator busted which in the nissan is a nightmare. They agreed to fix that after I paid towing of $200 they did not replace my radiator only doctored it up again. When I got it home white oily slim was still in coolant. Which I have kept all documentations for all repairs including pictures. Started a case with the BBB and will be filing in civil court. Cars are as is! But a dealership should disclose all major mechanical problems with the vehicle. This place is very good at covering problems up and their fixes only last a very short time. Please read reviews and don't buy a car from this place. I hate to see more people ripped off from this company

Don’t buy a car from them! They do patch up work to hide major issues. Using old mechanics tricks to make you think a car is running good. Also they like to polish and clean up the engine which makes it hard for you to notice oil leaks with in the engine. When I got my 2005 Yukon xl the guy told me I couldn’t take it to get check which was a red flag, but I decided to buy the car anyway, because the car ran half way decent, but I should had bought my brother with me that’s a mechanic. with in the first 20 minutes he could had known all the signs. The car had a bad altianator which can be tough to catch if you can only test drive it down the street which is a major red flag. The wheel bearings need to be replaced, the interior was awful in the trunk and had a odor. I had oil leaks which I know was there before, but these dudes had the engine looks so clean I could not tell if there was a oil leak, one of those old mechanic tricks. The AC failed on me with a few months of having the vehicle which was hell on me. Thank god i got a brother that’s a mechanic and he fixed all my issues and the car runs pretty good now. Most patch up work can last 30 days, but on that 2nd month you going notice all those leaks sealants they pump the car with is going start fading away.

I bought an A4 Audi 2008. The day I bought it I took it to an oil change location to make sure oil was good. The oil was black and I had it changed and oil filter . 89.00 The technician showed me it was leaking oil terribly. I had them replace oil gaskets,300.00. I had them put the car on the machine to read the dash light issues. Transmission was bad. I was told by Tim the lights were due to the cluster being bad and if they fixed it it would cause the mileage to reset? After I was told to bring it back and they would take care of it I drove back 24 miles to be told they never said that? So Jim Hardy got involved he is the owner. Jim was professional and bought the car back and was a gentleman. He was apologetic and I very much would do business here again but....next time will have car checked or I would not buy one.

Bought a car here over the summer, 2008 Mazda Tribute. I was in sort of a rush to find a decent car on my way back to Troy because in my mind there were better options in the Birmingham area, apparently not. Days after I bought the car, I noticed it had a problem of shaking at stop lights. This isn’t something you would notice when you’re only able to test drive it to the shopping center and back. A month and a few hundred miles into owning the car, I had $600 in repairs for a few minor things such as belts, motor mounts, and wheel bearings. This was only an annoyance but that’s what I get for buying a car at a dealership that doesn’t offer warranties. Not even 3,000 miles on this car and it’s now sitting in a mechanic shop with probable transmission problems. Whether I’ll have to rebuild it or replace it, this car will be costing me well over what it’s worth. Do better than what I did and have a trusted mechanic with you, my bet is that none of the cars here are without major issues!

In November 2014 I purchased a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor with 150,000 miles. I selected the vehicle and we had the paperwork done very fast. I called my wife to come and get her truck. She arrived and loved it. After we got it home I put full synthetic oil and a new oil filter in it and it ran like new. We have been to Atlanta and several long drives in Alabama with no problems. It's a great truck for the price. Thanks Automart South. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that we got the title in the mail before Christmas. I never bought a vehicle and everything went this smooth.
