What clients say about Colter Bay Cabins in Moran (WY)

Great location. The cabin we stayed at was very spacious. The beds were comfortable, with plenty of blankets. The shower had great water pressure. Close to many things .

We were given a cabin that was down a steep slope and no easy path to it. While this is great if you are young, as a 74 year old I did not appreciate the fact that management did not make sure we were able to access the cabin. It took my sister a long time to get all our things down the slope as well as my brother in law age 76 and me to the cabin. They explained we should have informed them when booking that we could not do the access. Poor management that they did not ask in booking. Restaurant was great. Too bad I can’t say the same for the cabins.

We had a great stay at the Colter bay cabins (2 bed, private bath) Cabin was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with towels and coffee (Keurig). The front desk is available 24/7 and friendly/helpful with whatever you need. The general store at Colter bay has everything you could want grocery wise, coffee shop wise (even oat milk lol), and a great gift shop. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at Colter bay cabin. Staying in the park offered wildlife viewing opportunities in the early morning & evening that we would have missed if staying in town.

Colter Bay Village Cabins offer a unique stay steeped in historic charm. The cabins are rustic but quite cozy. The mattresses are surprisingly comfortable. We did find the shower and bath area to be a bit small. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we would absolutely go back. Also, the wildlife around the cabins is really fun.

We were very disappointed with our recent stay at Colter Bay on August 2025. • Cabin pricing: We paid $340 for one night, which feels highly overpriced compared to other national park accommodations. For example, we have stayed in Yellowstone for nearly half the cost. Additionally, the cabins offer no Wi-Fi, which further diminishes the value. • Boat tour cost: We took the scenic boat tour for $182 ($59 per person) and felt this was a poor value. For comparison, during our July visit to Glacier National Park, we completed five boat tours—including at Many Glacier and Saint Mary—for about one-third (max $20 per person) of the price charged at Colter Bay. • Gift shop and amenities: Prices at the gift shop and across the location were consistently higher than what we’ve experienced at other national parks. • Parking and safety issue: On top of everything, when we arrived at night there was no electricity outside, so we had to rely on our car’s headlights to see. A large log had been moved from the parking area into the middle of the road. While parking, our car hit the log, and I had to get out and move it myself so others wouldn’t go through the same dangerous experience. Cabin numbers were also difficult to read in the dark, which made the situation even more stressful. Overall, we were not impressed with the management or pricing structure. The experience did not offer anything unique compared to our frequent visits to other parks such as Mt. Rainier, North Cascades, Mt. Baker, and Olympic National Park. Unfortunately, the cost and value at Colter Bay did not meet expectations, and we left feeling disappointed with the amount of money and time invested here.

The staff were friendly and helpful but there were NUMEROUS spiders in the room and flies in the room. The rooms and area were quiet but it was so hard for our family get any restful sleep with all of the spiders in the room. We expected to maybe run into a few insects but this was a lot.

These little cabins are decent for short stays. It was nice to have a cabin with 3 beds and our own bathroom. Bats had gotten into the space between our cabin and the one next to us and their squeaking took a bit to get used to but they did get quiet when it got darker outside. They were never in the cabin but it was a little unsettling. The cabin itself was clean and well-maintained. The fan helped the daytime temperature and it did not get too cold during the night. The area in front of the cabin could probably use some maintenance on the vegetation. The area is really beautiful and there were nice shops and a visitor center with rangers that had information on the area. Both restaurants had great service and friendly staff.

Overall the only reason so stay here is the location. There is not a pride in the maintenance and housekeeping of these cabins. They could be great, but they’re not. My favorite part was that they left an envelope to tip the housekeeper despite it was filthy. Some of the cabins share bathrooms. The bathroom floors are filthy and have no paper towels to dry your hands. The bathrooms have clear water damage. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor’s conversations. Cobwebs everywhere. It would take the staff 5 minutes with a vacuum to fix this issue. Something landed on my face in the middle of the night. The floors in the cabin were filthy and the bed caused us to wake up with a sore back. The only place to fill your water is at the check in cabin, or if you’re brave enough I suppose you could use the bathroom tap. I would check out other accommodations before staying here again. Tent camping might have been a better option ?

I stayed in cabin 202 June 16. It appeared that four cars could not fit in the small area outside, then I realized the distant building was for one family, so we only needed three spaces. I didn't want to get pine sap on my car so I parked in the middle spot. The room was depressing at first, but better when dark and lights came on. Still very over-priced. There is someone at the front desk 24 hours which was reassuring. It was quiet and we slept well. I would not stay here again.

The Cabin in Tent Village was filled with cobwebs and the floor was filthy. I had to clean the floors with bath towels. It was so dirty we had the staff come clean it. After they swept it I still had to wipe it all down with a wet towel. It apparently had not been mopped in a very long time. Walking barefoot in the cabin resulted in the bottom of everyone's feet being so dirty they were black. The location was gorgeous, but the cabin came with various bugs (spiders, beetles, some unidentified) and had not been adequately cleaned for a very long time. When we told the lady at the counter that we were returning some white towels that were now black because we cleaned the floor, she said, "Everyone does that".

Just stayed for one night June 1, family of 4. Took some advice from other reviews and brought a little hand vacuum with us, used it to clean up a few bugs that were around the cabin when we arrived. We were in unit 211, close enough to the restaurant that all evening we smelled the burgers cooking on their grill, but close enough for an easy walk to the marina. Shower temperature took a bit to figure out, to me the handle was "backwards" - pointed to hot when the water ran cold, pointed to cold when the water ran hot. The 4:30 position was optimal for me - lots of hot water. Turned on the electric heater in the morning to take the chill off the floor, but was very warm and cozy during the night. Lots of lights on outside though, was hoping for a dark sky environment. The shared wall with the neighbor was thin, could hear them talk when we were in the bathroom, but closed the door and that muffled it enough that we couldn't tell what the neighbors were saying. The desk clerk recommended having Bear Spray even for roaming near the cabins, didn't see any bears but heard someone that saw one early in the morning at the marina. Expected a somewhat rustic cabin built 50+ years ago and met with those expectations. Would go again but might ask for a cabin further from the restaurant.

Pros- Great location, old cabins, ice and WiFi at front office, shower (bring shower shoes), and a general store down the street Cons- For almost $500 a night this place made a $40 Motel 6 look like a Marriott. The first thing I noticed when I walked in is that it wasn’t even swept, the walls are disgusting, there’s water damage, other people’s hair stuck everywhere, and spider webs in every crevice, etc. Since the bare minimum wasn’t cleaned I decided to prod further and every less obvious spot I wondered if it was clean, I was quickly assured it was not. Upon checkout I expressed my disappointment and they said they were sorry. For almost $1000 you’re better off sleeping in a tent.

My husband, my three children, and I stayed in a double cabin in May 2025. The cabin was spacious and the location is great. My husband had stayed in a similar cabin at Colter Bay with some friends a few months prior and was excited to share the experience with us. While we had an amazing time exploring the parks, we were unable to get any rest in our cabin because it was INFESTED with spiders. During our stay, we killed around 50 spiders. They were in the shower, on the walls, dropping down from the ceiling, in the beds, absolutely everywhere. We notified the front desk our first night, and they sent someone from housekeeping to change our pillowcases since spiders had been on the beds. We didn’t push too much because it was the first weekend they were open for the season, and we thought a few spiders here and there were to be expected. The second day and night we saw SEVERAL more spiders, and we asked to be moved. The only option was a smaller cabin that would have been tight for the 5 of us, but we couldn’t handle anymore spiders. At this point we had killed over 30 spiders. Well, as soon as we entered that cabin we saw a handful of spiders in various spots and more alarmingly what appeared to be bed bugs on two of the beds. We let the front desk know, and went back to the original spider infested cabin. On day 3, we got a phone call from someone (maybe a manager) asking how to make things right, and he said he’d send someone from housekeeping to clean up the cobwebs and remove any visible spiders. When we got back to our cabin it was clear that no one had cleaned anything, and we spotted several more spiders. After killing over 50 spiders, we had enough and left Colter Bay. We moved to a hotel. The front desk claimed they’ll give us a discount for our stay but for now we have been charged for 3 full nights. What is interesting is that we traveled with friends and they did not see even one spider in their cabin. I don’t know why there was such a big difference between our experiences. We did not get any rest while staying at Colter Bay and both cabins we saw were disgusting. I will NEVER be returning to these cabins.

Quiet, cozy accommodations in a forested setting. The cabins have been "relocated" from where they were originally built. Despite warnings about the possibility of mice or bats I didn't see any.

We stayed 3 nights in a double cabin. It was basic but perfect as a base for Grand Teton. Only thing missing was some chairs to sit on the porch. But we knew this before hand and bought two foldable ones at Walmart.

Your expectations are going to be the biggest factor in your experience staying at these cabins. They are historic cabins in a national park- not a Four Seasons hotel downtown. The cabins are big and clean. They are not new with luxury finishes. As long as you go in with appropriate expectations it is a wonderful place to stay.

1 night stay passing through. Would not go back again. Tons of water damage and mold in bathroom. Rooms was dirty and garbage was left behind from cleaning staff. Duplex definitely not recommended, especially for folks who can not keep their children quiet. You hear everything.

Spacious cabins and relatively affordable for the park. The marina and swim beach are both great! Know in advance that you can't cook anywhere near the cabins and that the official picnic area is almost a mile from the cabin area. However our cabin has some problems with mold in the bathroom - mostly because the small shower had deeply inadequate water sealing. The floors were always soaked when we got out of the shower, even when we tried hard not to spill any water.

Pros; Restaurant. Good food and service. Grounds: Overgrown Cabin: Dirty, cobwebs everywhere, old, mildew shower. No fridge I realize it's inside Park, but it's way overpriced for what you get. Also as we checked in at front desk, we were told if we had bats or mice in our room to let them know. ?. Sketchy place to me.

Staff is friendly, there are some nice flat trails by the lakes. Cabins are as pictured but older and could use some deep cleaning or renovation. We had some bugs and spider webs in the room. There are shampoo, soap, hairdryer, and Keurig coffee machine in the room. Wifi is only available at the visitor center, check in office, restaurants, and stores. Phone reception is barely existent elsewhere. I wish there is a common area or lounge where people can hang out and/or use the internet. The cabins are a bit pricey ($300+ a night for cabin with one full size bed) bc you’re paying premium for the being in the park in the summer. I personally would want to check out Jenny Lake or Signal Mountain lodge if I visit again.

Loved Colter Bay Cabins. Our rustic cabin had 2 rooms, 4 beds, and 1 bathroom. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. You have heat and fans, but no AC. Also includes electrical outlets. Situated on Jackson Lake. On site they have a restaurant, bath house, grocery store, gift shop, laundry and marina. It is one of the more affordable places in the park, but still on the pricey side. Make sure to walk down to the lake in the evening to catch the sunset. I recommend the next time you’re in the Tetons.

Left a lot to be desired. They are trying to maintain the "rustic" element too much. The cabins need repair and pest control. We killed five spiders crawling around the beds before we could sleep. Couldn't tell you how many more slept with us. Won't be returning here.

We really enjoyed our five night stay at the Colter Bay cabins. We booked a two room cabin so that we wouldn't have to worry about hearing our neighbors. The cabin was clean, spacious, and had nice furniture (desk, couch, chairs).

This is as close to camping I want to get. The cabin was very clean. A decent amount of space. No air conditioning, which was okay. We left the windows open, and it got down to the low 40s. Great night sleep, probably that clean mountain air. The staff, both at check-in & and checkout, were wonderful!

Pros: - In the park - Heated, with comfortable beds - Has a shower/private bathroom Cons: - Sheets were not clean - Walls are thin; your can hear your neighbor in the duplex setup - Rather pricy for the lack of amenities (no wifi, fridge, counterspace, meals, etc.) It's super charming and you can't beat the location, but for the price of about $100 a bed per night, it's just not worth visiting again.

It is expensive because you are staying in the park. Beautiful views. Really friendly staff in all areas. The beds are comfortable. Spacious rooms. The room temp is cold so you will have to use the heater which is extraordinarily loud. Never walk in your room without shoes or your feet will be black from how dirty the floors are. This was from the second we walked in the door. The floor weeps between some of the floorboards so there will be random spots of water. The shower is horribly designed so when you turn on the shower, the water sprays onto the floor and adds to the existing water damage on the wall and floor where this obviously happens every time. Also, if you are a larger person or handicapped in any way, I can’t imagine the shower will be comfortable at all. It is a corner unit that is pretty small.

Our family of 4 highly recommends Colter Bay Village to any others looking to stay within Grand Teton NP! The cabins were so roomy and the beds were so comfortable for each of us! The number of amenities and the convenience of getting around the property by foot made this place a fantastic resting point on our 2-park trip out west.

Very cosy cabin in the park. Shared bathroom with 3 other rooms were very clean too.

Had a great two-night stay at a one queen, one twin cabin here. The crew, especially Maddy, was thorough and friendly in checking me in and explaining everything. The cabin was clean and well maintained. It’d be nice to have wifi at the cabin, but doesn’t hurt to get off the grid a bit!

These are historic cabins. They have electricity, height and heat and very little else. The room are small and private and the restrooms are shared and small. They had a shower in the bathroom with only lukewarm water. Price is good for what you get and being in the national park.
