CBV was the absolute worst value experience of a 3 week trip throughout the west. The internet photos misrepresented the truth as the "Cabin" we were assigned was built in the 20's, with minimal anything - especially the 40 year old space heater...and all for the ridiculous price of over $325 for one night!!! The bathroom had been updated & was at least clean and functional. Yet there was no refrigerator, no TV & no internet - with the only connection at dining hall 10 minute walk away. The National Park Service grants the concession to the Grand Teton Lodge Company, a subsidiary of Vail Resorts, Inc. This is a prime example of corporate greed gone wild. A room that is worth maybe, $39 being charged out at over $325 - we will never return to any Vail property again - save your money and go somewhere else.

Amazing 2 nights spent at Colter Bay Campground whilst on a USA roadtrip in my 4x4 Jeep Tentbox. Great spot (E111) literally 200 yards from Jackson Lake which was truly stunning & jaw dropping sat with a beer watching the sunset. Fantastic insite facilities, great place to grab a full hearty breakfast in the morning too.|I spent a days hiking out to Hermitage Point (12 miles/5hrs) solo through bear country & it was without doubt one of the highlights of my trip. Amazing scenery, tranquil, a tad nervy knowing there was a Grizzly/Black Bear in the area. I did see a Bald Eagle, deer, & various wildlife though.|I was on a planned itinerary so sadly had to move on, but reality is you could spend 3-4 nights here & base yourself.|Thanks to all at Colter Bay, you made a guy from the UK very happy indeed....Oh that & the 25 degrees glorious sunny weather too.

Dont stay at Colter Bay Village. The staff attitude. The quality of the log cabins. The cleanliness. The cost. Stay at Jackson Bay Lodge, or the much better, and cheaper, accommodation at Grant Village in Yellowstone. Even the grocery store was cheaper in Yellowstone. We are not normally whingers. Even when we raised some of the issues in the cabin (mould in bathroom, door lock problem, sagging beds, blankets, etc) the staff could not care less, they just say "it is historic". None of our problems related to the age of the cottage. In the grocery store a morning coffee took 30 minutes to make, but there were 3 tipping baskets in the store. Even the visitor center was closed when we got there, despte the sign on the road saying it was open. When we asked a ranger why, they said "that would require bringing in the sign each night". Colter Bay does not exude national park to us, just poor management.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in an 1890s cabin, it was quite rustic- but clean and quiet. WiFi was only available at the Colter Bay Check-in Cabin, and the staff were very helpful. We had a great time- but at $330 a night these accommodations were greatly overpriced.|Not sure how to rate:|1* price|4* location and experience |We enjoyed eating at the Mural Room- (gorgeous sunset and great food) and Jenny Lake Lodge (quiet in the forest and delicious), but were disappointed with the Blue Heron Lounge (way overpriced, nachos were Tostitos with drizzled cheese and 3 bites of chicken), and Colter Bay Ranch house was ok for breakfast. Grand Teton is a beautiful park, but needs to greatly lower their hotel/cabin prices.

We had a great 3-night stay at Colter Bay Village Cabins in the Grand Teton National Park. The staff was friendly, helpful, caring, and made our stay comfortable and exciting! We were thrilled staying in a cabin that originated in the 1920's and was relocated to its current location from Jackson Hole, WY. Of course, it has been modernized some with comfort amenities, yet the feel of the past was evident in every detail. Should we ever return to this area, we will for sure stay here again!

We rented a 2-BR cabin with 4 DBL beds at Colter Bay in late August 2025. We were allowed to check-in a couple of hours early and offered complimentary bear spray (which we didn't have to use, thankfully). The cabin was spacious, clean, and in a lovely setting. We ate one dinner meal at the Ranch House restaurant and it was good. We attended a special evening program at the amphitheater that featured Hovia Edwards, a Native American flutist, which we enjoyed. We visited the Visitors Center, hiked the lakeside trail, and enjoyed the beach. It was far superior to our cabin accommodation at Lake Yellowstone Hotel run by Aramark. If we ever return to the area, we will stay here. It's in a great location to explore Grand Teton NP.

This is an upscale campground -- half tent, half cabin makes it warmer (also has a fireplace) with bunkbeds (4). Outside picnic area with fire ring & bear cupboard. Not quite glamping, but no tents to set up. Only complaint: no handicap bathroom - one would never be able to get a chair or walker in the narrow stalls.

Very nice cabin with comfortable beds, perfect after a long day of hiking. We ate at both the restaurants and found them tasty. Were able to get towels easily as needed at the office. Only complaint: shower head wasn't pointed in the right direction and we couldn't move it.

Paying $400 a night for a cabin with rotting curtains, cobwebs and mold on the windows in the bathroom with a taped up entrance door is maddening. The staff is friendly and trying their best but they need more people. Save your $ and get a campsite or bring your RV. The Colter Bay cabins are overpriced with a focus on occupancy and little else.

The tent village at Grand Teton was a very convenient stay on our cross country moving trip after adventures in Yellowstone/Grand Teton area and was a great option for our adventure kitty’s first camping experience! The “tent” is two solid walls (these walls have two metal hanging bunks each with a basic cot) with two walls that are tarp material (not fully connected like a wall at the bottom that can allow for small animals and bugs to enter the “tent”; one has a window ). The bottom bunks are most likely the most used, so understandable they felt a little like a hammock from the wear. The “tent” also has a shelf area with a light, a wooden stove, and a solid wooden door (there is a basic hook lock but ours did not align up to lock so we had an item in front that would scrap the floor if something/one opened our door). The site offers a picnic table under a section of the “tent’s” outside roof as well as a fire pit and bear box that can accommodate a lot. The restroom was a short walk away from the site and was one of the cleanest campground bathrooms I’ve had and had plumbed toilets and sinks. ***ONE NIGHT OF LODGING IN EARLY JUNE, only reason we would not consider rebooking as a campground site option our next Grand Teton/Yellowstone adventure is because we would book a traditional tent site to use our REI Half Dome 3+ that fully closes from bugs with our Nemo Roamer air mattress as it is more comfortable compared to the provided bunks***

The Wild Ride We Didn’t Know We Needed (But Apparently Did)” Reviewed by: Two Teens Who Were Promised WiFi and Got Wilderness Tent Village, Grand Teton National Park – what can we say? If you’re a teenager trapped on a family road trip that smells faintly of beef jerky, bug spray, and dashed dreams of sleeping in — this place is IT. First off, let’s talk accommodations. We had the luxury suite of bunk beds suspended on chains like some kind of medieval camping dungeon (but make it cozy). My brother took the lower bunk — partly because he claimed it was “more grounded” and partly because he’s scared of heights (we’re not here to judge). I took the top bunk and spent 45% of my time calculating whether it would hold my weight or if gravity would spice up our vacation. It held. Barely. 10/10 thrill. Now, showers. There are none. Your scent becomes your signature. Our combined aroma is somewhere between campfire, lake, and teen spirit. It’s sharp, but such is camp life. Honestly, deodorant gave up and went home on Day 2. We’re embracing it now. As for activities: you name it, they’ve got it. Swimming in lakes that might technically qualify as “cryo-therapy”? Check. Hiking trails that our parents swear are “just a mile more”? Double check. And there’s even a rustic indoor wood-burning oven inside our tent, which is adorable and would be useful if this weren’t AUGUST and we weren’t already baking like two human pot pies. But the real highlight of the trip has been our mother’s full-blown obsession with spotting a moose. We have seen logs that kind of looked like moose. We’ve seen cow-shaped clouds. But no actual moose. This is a problem. Because if we don’t see one by sunset, we’ve been threatened with a 5am wake-up call to “up our odds.” And if Mom’s not happy, nobody is happy. This is now a hostage situation, and the moose holds all the power. Would we come back? Yes. Would we maybe sneak a mini bottle of dry shampoo and a decoy stuffed moose to stage a sighting? Also yes. Thanks, Tent City, for memories that smell as strong as they feel.

What I had hoped would be a memorable experience turned in to a disappointment. The tent cabins we stayed in were fine . They were clean, had plenty of room inside and out, and the stove worked well which was needed as it was cold at night (upper 30's/lower 40's). I felt safe in the cabin and the pads on the bunk pads were actually tolerable. Of course, the mosquitoes were awful but I was prepared. My problems were with two major issues...the reservation and a group that showed up on our second night. My reservation was changed due to a wildlife issue in my original site that I reserved. I was notified that I was moved to a new site for my first two nights, and then a second site for my last night which matched my original reservation. When I arrived at the office to check-in I found that they had moved me again and I was going to be in a different tent each night. I was never notified of this change and was not happy about it. After an extensive and very long discussion and a request to speak to the manger (who never showed up) the reservation was fixed and I had a tent for the first two nights and a move for the third night as originally booked. The first night in that tent was perfect...quiet and the experience I had hoped for! On my second night there a large group showed up...5 vans filled with boys ages grade 5 to 10 plus a moving truck with their gear and the chaperones. The boys were spread out around the upper loop and on both sides of me. Chaos ensued! They were noisy well past midnight...yelling, running around and the chaperones seemed to ignore them. They left food and other items out in their campsites. No security, no rangers, no one at all to help with the situation. I considered just leaving Colter Bay and abandoning my third night due to the boys but reconsidered since I was moving to a tent in the lower loop for my last night. I also felt that surely the staff would due something about the boys. When I checked in for my last night I asked if the boys and their noise had been dealt with and the manger assured me they had been spoken to. Well, the boys were at it again...well past midnight. This time singing and running around. Even though I was in the lower loop, they were easily heard. Again, no security, no rangers, no one at all to deal with the problem. Just guests who needlessly dealt with the problematic teenagers and the unprofessional adults who were their chaperones. The problems with my reservation, caused by Colter Bay, and that group of boys and the lack of response from Colter Bay ruined the experience for me. I wanted a quiet, nature filled experience and what I got my last two nights was the opposite. Very frustrating and disappointing. I have been camping for 20+ years and never experienced something like this. I have been places where noisy people were problematic and were warned or removed immediately (one in the middle of the night) by staff or rangers. At Colter Bay you are on your own and must suffer through the actions of others without any care or assistance from the staff.

Well priced accommodation in Park. Single bunks with own sleeping bags. Can get cold so come prepared. Has wood stove but only so so damping so you'll have to get up to fuel it.

We had never been to Wyoming. Wanted to visit Yellowstone and Teton, limit traveling. Searched and found this location - Colter Bay! Tents (all 600 or so of them) were filled. Cabins had 2 available at ~$400 per night (for 4 people; we were 6 people). Then came across these "Tent - Cabins". These were nice in that you had a kind of hotel + camping feel to it (~$103/night). Used 4 cots + 2 sleeping bags on floor. Stayed 4 nights. General store on site (somewhat limiting and expensive, but something), Office on site, able to buy wood 24x7 (from Office or Cabin Office at night). Laundry on site. Showers on site (had to use vouchers same day - was scolded for coming in the next morning :-(. Bears were around, walked up the main path by the dumpsters. Wolves howled at night. National Park Service (NPS) shot up in the air to scare them off (kinda cool!) Kept cooler + food all in the Bear box. Kept CLEAN camp! Nights got a bit cold, had to light up wood stove maybe around 2 AM and 5 AM; otherwise 70's rest of day. Ice making machine and dish washing station was at the back of the Tent Cabin Office. Didn't eat at restaurant, but was available. Rocky beach on Jackson Lake was nice - cold water though! There was power/lighting to tent-cabins, but no charging outlets (people charged in the bathrooms). WOULD DO IT AGAIN!

We stayed in the double and twin bed cabin with private bathroom and shower. Based on the photos I didn’t expect much but the place was amazing and clean. Clean white bedspreads and towels. Heater built in and a ceiling fan. The cabin was very spacious and they had a cleaning service that could come daily if you needed. Staff were super friendly too. A few small bugs here and there as expected with a cabin

Spent 5 days in the tent cabins at Colter Bay with family, including 3 young kids. We loved our stay! We appreciated the amenities, the cleanliness of the facility (including electricity and plumbing in the bathrooms), and the quality of the tent cabins. We had quite a bit of rain and had no problems with getting wet and stayed mostly warm at night. We had a group of 9 and reserved 134/136, which are connected by the wood walls (basically a cross with the canvas tents in offsetting corners). The area gave the kids space to play and was a safe environment. We will definitely be back!

For the price it was not worth it. Some things on the furniture was missing such as doorknobs and such. If you have loud neighbors you can hear them very well because the walls are thin. A little dirty, but we made it worked. You can’t book a room with two queen beds so me and my parents got a double and a twin, very small and I got some bumps on my legs and face after sleeping so it could’ve been the sheets and pillows.

Stayed 4 nights in a tent cabin. The location was great. Bathrooms were clean. Wash basin to clean dishes. Fresh water to fill water bottles and cook with. Ice machine for water as well. Close to the store, swim beach and the main road to go out on your daily Teton adventures. Stayed up until midnight 6 months ahead of time to book--it was totally worth it!

Wonderful camping option in GTNP. It’s not luxury, but the be price is right and it’s a lot better than tent camping for most. If you’re like us you don’t have your camping game down to a science this is a great option to get out without sleeping on the ground. You get one large room with a concrete floor and four bunk beds, two top level and two below. There are springs supporting the thin mattress. It is cold at night. We were here in July and nights were in the high 30s, so bring a good sleeping bag.

Really loved this campground. Three of us tent camped for two nights in late September. Each campsite comes with a nice fire ring (grill-top included), picnic table, and bear bin for food and toiletries. There are bathrooms scattered throughout the campground and nice and clean. There was a bathroom in every loop, so it was less than a minute walk to pee in the middle of the night. I will say that the pull-up areas for sites are thin/tight. So if you're planning on RV camping, I would suggest booking a spot in the actual RV park portion of this campground. Otherwise, don't complain. The general sites are mostly for those of us car or tent camping. There is also a really nice camp store that offers souvenirs, firewood, camp supplies, and food. There are RV, cabin, and tent sites available for booking. The tent sites go deep into the woods, so you can choose to be closer to people and the store or further into the woods for privacy. The campground is located right on Jackson Lake and in the middle of Gran Teton, so the location is hard to beat. We would definitely camp here again!

They have the location. That’s it. Expensive for what you get. Full hookups, no campfire and no showers. Some staff was great, others rude. Can’t blame them though, we were crammed in like sardines. People are everywhere. ||Checking in: Signage to pull in was horrible and you get yelled at for trying not to block traffic. Of course the guy that yelled at me, was yelling at other people too, for doing the wrong things. None of it malicious. Hopefully he was just having a bad week. ||Bathrooms were outdated but they were clean. Didn’t get backed up, but I assume most people didn’t bother and used the facilities in their 100k+ rigs. Yes, I am jealous. ? If you have a scamp or something similar, you will be stuck with $5 showers at the National Park. ||Most individuals stay for a week or two making it very difficult to get in. There has to be some gaming of the system I haven’t figured out yet. Once I do, I will let you all know. ||This is a National Park concession, so some of the benefits you get at staying at other National Parks, you do not receive here. It’s like they know you don’t have to many other options, so you can’t complain. ||I think this place gets high ratings due to the activities and location in the park. Having stayed at the Yellowstone parks before, you get treated so much better. I wonder if they pay better or more choices up there. ||Advantages: location, location, location. Next time I might just stay at Grant village in Yellowstone and do the 30 minute drive. I would save money, be treated better, and not feel crammed into a space. ||I typically don’t like to give negative feedback as you may see from my other ratings. I felt this one is justified. Might be time for NPS to relook at some contracts.

The RV park location is pretty close to Jackson Lake and would highly recommend staying here if you are planning to Kayak.||This Park is also at northern most end, so driving up to Jenny Lake and other Views in park will add up to your drive.||The park itself is very wooded, so Starlink users will have difficulty. While the good news is you have ample connectivity for AT&T.||There was little to NO space to sit down comfortably by side apart from a picnic table.||If you are driving up a RV over 12 .5 ft be prepared for scratches on your roof.

Stayed here while exploring Grand Teton National Park. The campground is wooded with tall pines (and smells deliciously piney!) and the sites, while pretty close together, were level and had full hook ups. There aren't any amenities directly in the campground, but there are showers a 5 minute walk away, and a small convenience store a bike ride or short drive down the main driveway. A path leads to a beautiful lake with a smooth stone beach, nice to watch the sunset while overlooking the mountains. Campground is located in a good spot, convenient to hiking trails and landmarks to see within the park. Overall a peaceful + relaxing stay!

We took a last minute trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone. This was a really great place! Bathrooms, showers and a really nice General store. The tents were clean, had lighting, a fire pit and picnic table. We had 4 beds (2 bunk type) and there was room for a few cots on the floor if needed. It rained a lot while we were there and it was perfect! Really convenient location. We're planning to stay here again.

These cabins are rustic. Over 60 years old and transported to this place kind of rustic. I don't mind rustic and we've stayed here 4 years ago and had a decent experience but 2 nights ago we had a horrible experience. The rooms are not super clean. The linens seemed clean enough and the mattresses were fine but the floor was dirty and we made the mistake of scooting a bed about 6 inches to one side which exposed how gross it was under the bed. A LOT of dead bugs. Mostly ants but other things too. Moved the bed back into place to try to remove that from our mind. The door doesn't seal well. We had a 1+ inch gap under our door which mean any bug, some rodents, and maybe other things could easily make their way into the cabin. The shower was ok until we saw the black/greenish mold in the bottom cracks of the shower. The outlet the lamp was plugged into didn't work. Had to change sockets to get it to turn on. We had some rain and there was a very slight leak in the roof. Nothing to really be concerned about but troubling all the same. On the flip side the staff was friendly, the lamps have outlets on them, the cabin "office" has free WiFi and checkin and checkout were very quick and easy.

Honestly this place was heaven on earth. Gorgeous scenery all around. Stayed in a two twin bed cabin with a shared bath. It was nice, even with the shared bath. Loved the little store on the property. Make sure to get some huckleberry ice cream. Pizza restaurant has amazing pizza. Very family friendly place. Will be staying here again!!

What a beautiful place. Friendly staff. We stayed in a cabin which was very nice, though far too expensive. The food at the court was expensive as you'd expect way out here, but it was pretty good. I was very surprised to find the laundromat didn't have detergent for sale after hours. The place is open 24/7, and has a vending machine selling two different types of dryer sheets, but no detergent. I asked the cabin desk staff, who are there 24 hours, but while friendly they were unable to help me.

Colter Bay Village is nice. The personnel, specially Olivia, were great! They were able to cancel our tent reservation and move us to a log cabin without extra charge. Unforyunately, the cabin was not very clean. The room was full of cab webs and dust. And the toilet needs a lot of scrubbing. Food at the restaurant is okay, not too fancy so we book dinner at Jackson lake area restaurant.

We stayed for just one night in a cabin in Colter Bay Village and enjoyed the experience. The cabin was rustic yet well appointed, and the bathroom looked like it was brand new. No air conditioning, but you won't need it. Room stays cool during the day, and even in August it got very cool at night (we had to turn on the heater and grab the extra blankets!) This is a great spot to stay in the park because it's not so crazy crowded like the Lake Jenny area. It clears out from most people in the evening. There is Wifi available in the cabin office, and also in the laundry building. It works pretty well, but works best later in the evening when there aren't so many people around. The grocery store is pretty well stocked so even if you don't stay in an area where you can cook, you have options outside of eating at one of the restaurants. I would stay here again.
Aug 19, 2018 -
If it were not for the location, we would not stay here. All of the Lodges are inside The Grand Teton National Park and the cost of admission to the park is not included in the cost of staying at any of the Lodges. The cost of a single room is $180 a night. The cost of a double room is $225 a night. You would think with those prices they would include admission to the park. The cabins have curtains that don't fit the windows so anyone walking by can see into your room. There are cracks between the windows and the wall that you can see through. There are cracks around the door, exposed wires, one of the ceiling fans in our double room doesn't work and the clean out for the bathroom is exposed. There isn't enough hot water to take a 15 minute shower. We had to clean the shower head to make the shower usable. Thankfully the park more than makes up for the short comings of the Lodge. The staff in the office are very friendly too.
