Called at 8am on a Monday (today), asked for a quote to get my car from Advanced Auto Clinic to my home in town by St. Andrews. This is an 8.5 mile round trip from Purcell's to Advanced to my home and back to Purcell's. The gentleman that answered the phone quoted me $110 +tax. Ok, fine, whatever, they're basically the only business in town. I also told him that they absolutely still had the key. He shows up with my car at 1:15pm. Says Advanced told him they didn't have the key, so no key, which means he has to shake / nudge it off the flat bed. I told him I had the other key, he says it will be fine, the angle it came off did not look healthy for my car. Give him my card to pay what I expected would be $110, he comes back with the paper for me to sign, I signed my first name and then noticed he had charged me $140 +tax. I asked him why when I was quoted $110, he said that because of the construction on Hwy 50 they were stopping everyone and it took longer. What can you do when the card is already run and your driveway is blocked? He took the half signed paper and left. Because my key was not returned, I myself drove out to Advanced to collect it, not 10 minutes after he had passed through. The workers were not working, there were no flag people, and you could still get through the road. Really? I've heard of tow places taking advantage of someone that was put in a bad situation - wrecked car or broke the law, late at night, on a weekend, forced to go there because they work with the cops - but not taking advantage of a 43 year resident, single mother who called voluntarily for a simple, 8.5 mile round trip tow of an intact vehicle, during business hours. Shame on you. It's not just $30, it's your morals and ethics. Do better

Purcell's is fantastic. Quick to respond, attentive to details, overall very professional. My family found ourselves stranded on the highway in very cold temperatures. They worked quickly to ensure we were safely put into another vehicle and had our vehicle off the road just as fast. We sincerely appreciated all they did for us that day.

One star is giving them ALOT of credit, but no stats was not a option. Guy was very very rude when I went to pick up car. He should not be working with public. Can't say anything about tow as I wasn't there due to car being stolen.

Crazy expensive. 2 tows, probably 10 miles total, had the car for 22 hours, charged 2 days of storage ($50 x 2) and it cost me $480 in total. Gotta love it when your teenager wrecks her car then you get pumped for an extra 5 bills. Of course, they don't work with AAA. On the plus side, he did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. In my next life, I will become a tow truck operator.

Terrible Experience – Unprofessional and Rude Absolutely the worst experience. If you have any choice at all, avoid using their services. My car caught on fire and had to be towed – the police called this company to handle it. I spoke with Joe on Saturday to coordinate picking up my vehicle, since I was having a hard time arranging something on such short notice. Joe said he would close the office at 12:30, but he seemed understanding of my situation and said he would waive the storage fee for Sunday. He said I would only be charged for Friday and Saturday, and I confirmed I’d pick the car up Monday. When I arrived at the lot, I found out they were only open by appointment, even though their online listing shows regular business hours – no warning or mention of appointments-only. To make matters worse, the quote I was given on the phone was $300 less than what I was actually charged. When I questioned it, I was told the quote was off because Joe “didn’t have the paperwork in front of him.” That’s not an excuse for such a huge discrepancy – a quote should be close to accurate, not hundreds of dollars off. Not to mention, the guy who gave me my paperwork made a completely uncalled-for comment: “Well, if you had full coverage on your car you wouldn’t have to worry about paying the towing fee.” That’s none of his business, and it was completely inappropriate. The same guy was extremely rude and dismissive. I asked to speak with Joe and was flat out told “No, you will not talk to him.” The attitude and customer service were completely unacceptable. It’s clear they’re just out to take your money with no regard for professionalism or basic courtesy.

Unfortunately, not the towing service i would go with. Got my van home and Unfortunately I have damages that consist of an incorrect tow. I appreciate this whole event turning my car into a money pit. I did not bother even calling back to see if the damnages are covered as i rather a more reputable shop handle the claim. Not only was my car damaged during the towing. The gentleman claims no one is in the office to take payment but he does the payments and towing. I find this all to honestly be unprofessional and will never use nor recommend Purcells to anyone. I will not take my review down as it is my public right to share my opinion. Purcells so wonderful found me at my place of business. The lady came in screaming and demanding to look at the damages on my car. Unfortunately the rack and tie rods were damaged in transport however i am not interested in having them fix the car! Nor as a store manager did I have the time to take her out to my car. I already had 2 customers waiting patiently that she skiped. I am a mechanic myself and take my advice first and for most. The tie rod ends and my rack is shot and thats why my car pulls to the left now. I had 0 problens with the van untill then. I also noticed a sway bar cane disconnected in which i just had another shop put on for me given my busy schedule. So i reached out to my mechanic in janesville and we racked the car together because of how rude they were on pick up I chose to leave a review instead of giving them a chance to rectify it. I also made sure I had another mechanic that confirmed my suspicions. Because of my review they felt it nessisary to demand it be taken down or they will sue me for slander. Im not sure how a Google review is slander but they have the right to be upset they got a poor review. There were 3 customers inside my store that felt this was childish and unprofessional. They offered to give me there numbers to be a witness incase they do sue but I politely declind as there is no reason for them to waist money over a Google review. Completely unprofessional people. Thank you for commenting. Again there is nothing illegal about my post and i had customers not inview of the sales floor in my commercial area. My car was damnaged and this whole scenario is the deffinition of insanity. You keep coming at me angry and yelling and expecting me to take down my review. I respect the business you have however, I would never recommend you. Plain and simple. As I said before you have a wonderful day.

Did not have a great experience. My wife's hood blew up and smashed her windshield on I-43 near the county X exit, which is 2 miles from her house. Purcell's hooked up, dropped her at home (which was literally off that exit and 2-3 miles from the incident, but still nice of them), then took the car to their place in Delavan, which according to Google is 3.8 miles from our home. I had told her to have them take it to the body shop but the Purcell's guy heard co-part mentioned and said just take it to our place (Purcell's lot) if co-part is going to get it. So in all it was about a 6-10 mile tow. This was at about 12:30pm. I called them around 3pm and said it needs to go to the body shop (Keith's Body shop in Delavan) like we originally said. The body shop is literally down the road from Purcell's (according to Google it's 2 minutes, and less than 1 mile) He said ok, he might do it that afternoon or he might just do it in the morning of the next day. I wanted it to go that day, but I thought to myself, I hope he doesn't charge me for an extra tow for this, and he sure better not charge me overnight storage. Well, he decided to wait and do it the next morning, and all I know is ... for this grand total tow work of 7 to 11 miles, I got a bill for 612.00 (attached). Keith's, for their part, initially wrote it up as $781.00 on their body work estimate (a 20% uptick). (Sigh). But ultimately only charged me the $612.00 (after I'd seen a copy of the actual tow receipt). Well I paid it. But beware. They might not bend over backwards to save you charges, especially if they hear the word insurance. And that ultimately hurts all of us. Summary: I appreciated them giving my wife a ride home. I didn't appreciate the price for the full service rendered. Especially if (as the bill seems to have) he added that overnight storage charge, which was done for HIS convenience, not mine.

Amazing service! Went through my insurance because I locked my keys in my corvettes trunk after a long day of boating. Guys came out within 20 minutes, and unlocked and got me into my car within the span of 5 minutes. Made it look easy. Awesome service and great friendly dude.

I can’t say enough good things about this company. My son was traveling when his truck broke down. He didn’t know anyone and wasn’t sure who to call when he found Purcell’s Towing online. The owner, Mary, was quick to help him with a very reasonably priced tow and find a reliable mechanic. The truck had more damage than we wanted to deal with so Mary towed the truck to their shop. Then she did something I never would have expected, she sought out a buyer for the truck. She posted it on Facebook and talked to people she knew who might be interested. In less than a week, she had it sold for us and the deal was complete. She went over and above to communicate with us and help us work through this while we were in separate states. She helped us tremendously and I would recommend their company to anyone. They are the best!

We had a flat and Purcells were so nice! They filled our tire up and followed us to make sure we made it safe to Walmart to repair. Can't recommend them enough!

Purcell's is the best. Couldn't have asked for a better experience after getting terribly stuck in a snowy ditch with a flat tire in the wee hours of the morning. Went above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks for saving me and keeping me safe!

Purcells ALWAYS answers the phone. They are timely, professional and VERY reasonable. I was in a bind yesterday and needed my 57 Chevy moved … they did it so quickly ! I couldn’t believe it. Mary is so nice and so easy to work with! 5 stars!

This guy saved us. We went through AAA and a different company was sent. There was a bunch of drama with the other company and the driver took off and left us stranded. After 4 hours of trying to get AAA to fix it and send someone to help us, we gave up, but who’s gonna help you in the middle of the night? Purcell’s. He picked us up, and drove us the 30 miles to our usual repair place. At 10 o’clock at night. So amazing. Super friendly and so helpful. Thank you SO much for being there when we really needed it.

After blowing a brake line we needed this towing service. We cannot say enough! Joe was very professional, arrived before scheduled time, was able to tow the truck, and camper! We would highly recommend his services.

I had the unfortunate experience of popping a tire on the highway. After calling around and being told wait times were 3+ hours someone finally directed us towards Purcell's. I'm so glad we called because they told us someone would be there within the hour. Not even 20 minutes our savior arrived! As I'm writing this I realize I never got the wonderful womans name who picked us up, but she was amazing! She was very kind and didn't try to bs us about the truth of our situation. She gave us so many options in case our original plan fell through. If I'm ever stranded up this way again I know who I'm calling

Purcell's is the best! Great service, personable, and all around great to work with. I totaled my car and was told I wasn't able to pull some aftermarket parts off because of liability issues- which was expected. What I was not expecting was a call saying they pulled them off for me to come pick up! 10/10 customer service.

Not a very personable guy. I had A dr appointment for my 2nd degree burns and couldn't pick it up the next day. He left the shop the day I wanted the car. so I had to wait to pick it up the next day and they added more money for storage. He charged me 180$ for a 3 block tow and tacked on 2 day storage fees totaled 230$ And had a bad additude with me and my girlfriend. I would not recommend, but the police use him so most people won't have a choice.

we were out of state stranded at a Burger KING with a starter fob that wouldn't work Ford couldn't send Their tow truck so gave us Purcell's #. They were there very quickly explained the problem and the lady tried to jump battery and got us going so we could get home. THEN wouldn't take anything as said she believed in playing it forward.we are in our 70's and NO one has ever been so kind If could give more than 5 stars we Would !!!

My pickup broke down around 8:30 pm. I called Purcell’s towing and Joel arrived in 20 minutes. Got me loaded and back to my shop quickly. He has a good price and easy to deal with. Thanks Joel!

Super responsive, very nice when they arrived, and very professional. Did a great job getting my car out of a tricky situation with no damage to car or surrounding environment. Highly recommended!

They don't waste any time when getting to the tow location and safely, carefully and promptly loading the vehicle on the flat bed. Reasonable pricing for whatever type of service they provided. You can always expect Purcell's to quickly and efficiently take care of any job you throw at them.

Went here for a second opinion after an attempt to be “sold emergency parts I didn’t need” (I do know a thing or two skit card but never let mechanics know that lol) Tommy was up front and honest about situation (brake calipers) and explain it and why. I saw his honesty and character right away and very personable and relatable also. Had a flat tire in a bind a few months later and very fast and very fair price to plug. This is now my go to place and would and will (and did today) recommend you anyone and everyone. A+

They towed my vehicle after an accident. They were extremely professional, and sympathetic. Very very reasonably priced, I'd say they are the cheapest and easiest towing company to work with!!! I will definitely use their services agan!💯

Has always been there when I or my family has needed them. Of course it's never a convenient time for anyone involved when it comes to an accident or a runoff. Always seems to be a weekend or after hours so one should certainly not expect anything but a premium for after hours service. I won't ask anyone else in my area to tow for me because I believe Purcell's is trustworthy and have a high standard of ethics.

Got charged $250 for towing and storage. The car was literally less than a mile from the tow yard and was towed yesterday! Unbelievable high prices and it seems like they really take advantage of people. That's almost half a week's paycheck for the average person but as long as they're making their money, they could care less! Stay away from them if possible...

Towed my car 30 minutes after I ran out of gas on a dark country road. The tow truck passed me as I was walking to a station to get gas. I must add that it was after midnight and I was the only one on the road. Thanks for not stopping Purcell's. Charged me $265 to get my car back and claimed that my car was not properly pulled to the side of the road. I clearly remember pushing my car AS FAR off the road as possible. You should be prosecuted for Grand theft auto. I am curious how much you gave the cop who called you to tow my vehicle. You are the definition of a predatory towing company.

I'm not sure that you can "love" having your car towed for any reason and that's what it says five stars mean... that noted, I can only say that Mary & Joe at Purcell's have been incredibly responsive, very professional and a great source of "relief" when they've shown up to help me out. Unfortunately, I've had to call twice in the last year when I've had a flat tire. The first was due to a huge piece of metal imbedded in my tire out on I-43 on a 98 degree day. The second was after blowing a hole in my sidewall due to monster pothole on this 3 degree day. In both cases, I've been helped very quickly with never a complaint about the weather and the situation improved about as painlessly as possible. I'd really like to add a big THANK YOU for helping me so quickly.
