This is a long overdue review. Matt and his team do fantastic work. I've taken several of my vehicles there over the years and every experience they have treated me very well and honestly. They aren't just part changers here, but will make sure they properly diagnose your car before doing any work to ensure they fixed the root cause. Fantastic communication, they always let me know what they find and the cost before they proceed. I've never had any big surprises once I arrive to pick up my car. They have very reasonable rates, and they complete jobs quickly. I highly recommend

We had our 07 Cadillac timing chain replaced. We returned for oul smell and they said no leak. We realized 2 months later it was still leaking. When we brought it back to them they said it wasn't although we have 2 different places tell us it was leaking from there. They then sent us a bunch of pictures stating our frame was rusted and they would not repair the car! What happened to them checking that before they took over 2k from us a month or 2 before!

Stranded on O and 23. 70 miles from home. Had to have a Tow truck to take it to a mechanic. Thank God for Sunset auto. They had me in and out the same day. And it cost me less than the quote they gave. Car runs great, service was great, people were really nice. Could not ask for any better, Thank you.

Dawn at front desk is wonderful. So sweet to work with. Matt knows his stuff & has very reasonable prices!! We definitely will go back if we need work done! Thank you guys!!

I got a screw in my tire, stopped by this place as it was close to where I was and I must say, VERY friendly and helpful. Literally dropped everything, fixed it quick and sent me on my way. Just from my short experience I would recommend them. I was back on the road and able to get home.

Great place to get work done. The front desk lady Dawn, is very friendly and personable. They do a very good job and within a reasonable time frame. Also after they look at it and assess what is actually wrong with the vehicle, they will tell you what is wrong and let you know about it before they do any work to it. It is a little expensive but all vehicles are, but the service they provide as well worth the price. Unfortunately however they have stopped doing vehicle emissions testing.

Matt Grit is awesome! Great communication, goes above and beyond. Fixed a problem other mechanics have been trying to for years. Very fair and couldn’t be more happy. I’m telling everyone to go to him.

Had an alignment job done here. Job was done within the time frame they told me. Reasonable price, comfortable waiting area with TV, cozy chairs and a Keurig machine with different flavors provided free. Friendly service!!!

This place does alright work. But they charge for just getting a estimate. The fact is I never did bring my vehicle there but my kid has several times. Each time there was a charge for you to look at it! One time I was called because you wouldn't let the vehicle go until the estimate was paid. So I paid for it! The reason it was brought there was because everyone else was full and the repair was needed at the time. I spoke directly with the person doing the billing and paid over the phone. This was a few years ago. I have since encouraged my kid to go where there isn't a charge for a estimate and then the money can be saved to put towards fixing the vehicle.

Best mechanics I know around the area. Straightforward upfront great pricing,always willing to work with your schedule to try and get your car done in a timely manner. Would much rather use them than any kind of automotive chain in the area.

This place is unreal!!! I have been have some warning light issues with my car. When I called, they got me in the same week. When I arrived at my appointment, they promptly serviced my car. Asking me questions and listening for my answers. They took care of everything very quickly. I was in and out and on my way back to work within an hour. Highly HIGHLY recommended!!!

I only needed an emissions test done. I didn't need an appointment, I was able to just stop in and they did it right away. I was out of there in no time. I also had old plates on my vehicle that I needed to swap with my new plates and they were nice enough to do it for me!

Great place and service. I have been going here for a few years and they always stand behind their work. They diagnosed the wrong part causing the noise in my car once and fixed it right away! I will definitely be continuing to come here in the future!

Definitely one of the most reliable and honest auto shops in Sheboygan county. I’ve gone there every time I’ve had an issue and gotten my car back and fixed within the same day. Their work is both quick and quality. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. Will continue to go here for any car troubles I might have in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS JOKE THEY CALL A SHOP. The overweight middle age “ mechanic” I had to deal with was the most rude and disrespectful person I have EVER had the sad pleasure of dealing with. He was beyond rude. He had NO clue what he was talking about. Even threaten me. I will make it my life mission to let EVERYONE I know to NEVER support this “shop”. And to respond to your reply. You did NOT explain ANY of that to me and my fiancé (who is a mechanic) when we were there. In the most rude way possible you told us we couldn’t get a waiver. You didn’t go into detail or be of any help. All you did was try scaring us into thinking my car could have been confiscated. We also spent well over the $890 fee it’d cost to get a waiver. You’re an absolute joke of a mechanic. I gave MY honest opinion on this shop and my experience. I don’t need you here commenting on my review trying to justify your AWFUL customer service skills. I never give reviews unless I was truly shocked by how awful service was. I hope this helps people to stay far away from this place.

Had an emergency brake failure over the weekend. They got me in first thing Monday morning, diagnosed the problem, got the parts, and had my car done by end of the day. Very thankful they were able to squeeze me in to their schedule. Reasonable pricing as well.

Was very pleased with their service. Quick, easy and painless. They did everything honestly and went the extra mile. In the end the price was right, and I didn’t feel like I got overcharged like I do at so many other auto places. Thank you!

Friendly staff. Seemed straightforward at first. Had my F150 in on two separate occasions for different problems. One month later same problems re-occurred. I will not be returning. Wait time is always at least one week out.

Would give 0 stars if it were possible. Only go here for emissions testing, because that's free! These clowns charged my SO $60 for a diagnosis fee that was never mentioned at any point from calling to set the appointment, with no mention on their paperwork when dropping the car off, but wouldn't release the car without being paid. They even tried selling him tires on a vehicle that is not driveable! Unacceptable!

Ive ben having power steering problems for years and have constantly ben taking it back to sunset. .the entire power steering system was replaced and still isn't working properly. ..sunset mentioned looking into many of the power steering parts that were under warranty and replacing what was covered by the warranty (obviously i would pay for the labor).i called sunset several times to discuss this and would be told they will call me back and never did. I also had a sway bar replaced there very recently that is also under warranty that i wanted them to check into. .in my opinion they used cheap parts and now im paying for this because I'm stuck trying to sell a car that doesnt run properly and ive paid thousands of dollars to fix. It would cost thousands in parts and labor to get this fixed elsewhere because i would havr to pay for the parts again instead of utilizing the warranty.

I contacted Sunset Auto to have them inspect a pre-owned car I was looking to purchase. Matt did an outstanding job and identified a number of items that most people would miss. Pricing was extremely fair and I would highly recommend Matt & his team!

I've had oil changes and various other repairs done to my 2002 S-10 at Sunset Auto. The repairs were all done at a reasonable cost and on time. The major problem that Matt resolved for me was with the "service engine soon" light. He worked on this over a period of time, the time was not due to his scheduling but because of the mileage that had to be put on the vehicle to reset the system to validate the repairs. This took up a considerable amount of his time and additional hardware costs. Matt took it upon himself to absorb all the addition hardware and labor costs. I will certainly return with any of my vehicles with full confidence that the repairs will be done properly and at a reasonable cost. Thanks to you and your staff Tom Bricco

A coworker of mine referred to go here because this is where she goes all the time for her repairs. When I went here to talk with them, they were really polite and friendly. Also they treated me like a person unlike the place I went to in sheboygan were I live. I will always go here from now on for my repairs.

This is the ONLY place that I will take my vehicles if I can't do the work myself. Honesty, Integrity, and Value all in one place. Very reasonable prices and you will get a straight answer without the run around of the other garages. Top Notch!!

I thought I already left a review, maybe it was a different site... but, I just looked them up to call to see if our car was done and thought that I would leave a review after talking with them just now. We bought a used vehicle and dropped it off to get looked over. I am so pleased with how low the bill is, and they are working hard to make sure they catch all of the issues. AND he had no problem with me asking to wait until the spring to fill the A/C.. he could have been selfish and pushed me to do it now. My husband and I moved to the area 3 years ago after buying a business here. One of the last things that we wanted to deal with was finding a new auto-repair facility for our vehicles. When our SUV broke down at the County Fair last year my husband tried to do the repair himself, but then begrudgingly took it to a repair shop closer to our house on the southside of Sheboygan. Well, those guys were condescending and costly. Worst yet, our vehicle wasn't completely repaired, but they had a "well your husband shouldn't have messed with it" attitude, rather than just fixing the small issue that remained. Well, one of our employees recommended Sunset and even though it is much further from our place we have been using them since then! Sunset is friendly and helpful,.They make the repairs seem like not so big a deal. Their prices are fair...dare I even say LOW. We feel like we want them involved in our cars and enjoy working with them. My husband is respected for knowing what he does about cars and not judged for knowing less than the pro's. My kids even feel welcome with their warm atmosphere. Thank you Sunset! We hope you are able to keep this excellent way of business even after your business grows larger and larger from all of the good word of mouth! .

The best thing I think I can say about these guys is: You know that friend of yours who's friend repairs cars and does it for the cost of the part and a little extra money on the side? Saving you tons of money? That guy started a business and it's called Sunset Auto. Like your friend, they're not gauging you on prices. One car I brought it was looked over and found nothing wrong with it. No charge. Despite the time they spent looking it over. Another car they fixed my cooling system dial and it cost $25. No minimum 1 hour (at $100/hour) charge. Great place, great people. I go there, my co-works now go there, and I tell others to do so as well. However, they are a smaller shop. Don't expect loaner cars. Their hours include opening/closing 30mins before the typical 8-5 work day. You'll have to organize for someone to pick you up/drop you off.
