I read about the annual spring cleanup a couple months ago online so I began preparing to clear out junk form our family farm. I went to the center ahead of the event and checked the rules and conditions. I asked them if there was a limit on how much I could bring as I planned on renting a UHAUL trailer. I was told by the employer at the center that I could bring “as much as I wanted.” I double checked and said are you sure because I’ll have a UHAUL full. He reiterated again that was fine. On the day of the event, today Saturday, we arrived well ahead of the scheduled end of the event. We arrived before 1. We waited in a line of cars for a substantial amount of time which would have been fine. However, when we were two vehicles away from drop off we were told they couldn’t handle anymore and sent us away. The man said we could take it to landfill in Charleston which is closed until Monday and when I told him that he said we could just return the truck filled to UHAUL and “let them deal with it.” Which we won’t do because that would be obviously wrong of us. So it will necessitate keeping this truck until Monday and spending at least hundreds more and also we will have to pay a landfill fee. To say I am livid is an understatement. I’ll never trust the “spring cleanup” events again

Easy to access. Friendly and helpful staff. Just wish they were open more days each week.

This is listed as a solid waste facility, but it is not. If you drive nearly an hour to responsibly dispose of large waste items, you'll be disappointed.
