I would recommend this shop to anyone in need of quality auto repair services, great communication, quality workmanship and prompt service are 3 of the things we experienced here. We also own a business and have a fleet of trucks, we there personal or for business I would use them for anything again!

I can't believe what they did to my 88 year old mother. Took her van in for inspection sticker and I called to see if it was ready and the guy said it was ready. Well nobody told me that the van had been rejected and when I took my mother to pick it up nobody told her that it had been rejected either. What kind of business does that to someone of her age. I live 3 hours away and am going back tomorrow and now I have to figure out how to get her van fixed. My parents have been going there for years to get their cars inspected. There was no paperwork in the van and my mom had no receipt or anything in her purse. Very disappointed.

Been using g them for State Inspections and minor fixes for years. Fair and dependable, which is hard to find these days.

Brother In Law brought his truck in to get fixed and they ended up damaging the radiator during repair. Lied about the damages and refused to refund or try to resolve the issue. Owner is rude and employees are not good honest people. I would take your business somewhere else if you were smart about it or at least want the job done correctly.

Would not bring any service to this establishment if it was even the last place around. My brother and me went in to get his water pump fixed and they ended up breaking the inlet pipe to the radiator. Instead of replacing or owning up to their mistake they tried to epoxy it back on and further damaged his truck. Owner is rude and is not personable whatsoever, would not refund or make amends one bit. His employees don’t know a lick about good honest work and lied about damaging the vehicle until they finally admitted to it. You’d be better off going elsewhere than this hole in a wall establishment.

Excellent customer service, great pricing, and dependable repair work. Amy is very professional, friendly, and easy to work with. I needed to get brakes and rotors replaced. I called around and got 4 quotes. Western Auto had the best price by far. I also had them do an oil change & tire rotation. Since they had the tires off for the brake job, there was no charge for the rotation. Amy called with an update and said things were going well with the work being done and asked if I wanted to go ahead and get my vehicle inspected since it was due next month. I said sure! They saved me time and money! I dropped my vehicle off the night before, and it was ready shortly before noon, which was excellent! I like that this is a family owned & operated business. I’ve had my cars inspected and work done on them by Western Auto for over 30 years. They are honest, very good at communicating what needs to be done, very fair on their pricing, and the repair work is very dependable.

I normally am not one to ever write a negative review but I felt I needed to share my experience. I dropped off my car for an oil change and tires rotation, as I have done at this location before. I always do conventional oil. The woman at the front desk decided to change my oil to full synthetic without my consent. When I went to check out and asked her why she would make that decision without asking me she said she "made the executive decision on what is best for my car" those were her exact words. This was after she confirmed that she saw I previously got conventional oil so she knew that was not my preference. Unless if she would like to pay my car payment, she has no right to decide what is best for my car. Also, for clarification, it is perfectly fine to have conventional oil in the make and model of my car. She also referred to my car as "my mothers" multiple times despite my mother having no ownership or connection with the car what so ever. My mother has also never received services from this establishment so this is an assumption she made on her own. I guess something about a 26 year old woman owning a car confuses her. She continued to state this even after I corrected her. Unless if you like to be upsold without asking and condescended I recommend you take your business elsewhere.

I recently dropped my car off at Western Auto for some necessary services, including an alignment, inspection, and potential replacement of the lower ball joints. The service was completed quickly, and to my surprise, they saved me money by confirming that the ball joints didn’t need replacement, contrary to my initial assumption. Amy was fantastic to work with—professional, attentive, and communicative throughout the process. I will definitely be returning for future service!

I am hoping this issue is am having with Western Auto can be resolved. First manager i spoke to a female was no reasoning with her. For her to be part owner very unprofessional. Quick to tell you they have no corporate. There is a court room . But the other owner was very pleasant and understanding and is willing to try to resolve once my car is fixed and I provide invoice. I also have pictures . If this issue is resolved I will give the owner Brandon a separate review. But I advise noone deal with her. She didn't even have a concern my car could have caught on fire leaking gas. Someone could have been killed. Keep that in mind anyone want to go there do not deal with her. It could have been a very different outcome and all she cared about was disputing and telling you what you should have done. Maybe it should have been fixed the first time. First of all I'm not a mechanic. I live in foxhill Hill. I was close to home that's why I drove it home. I owe you no explanation to why I did what I did. Y'all ever think this could have killed someone?? My car could have caught on fire.? No you were only worried about $$ . This could have turned out differently and you should be thankful Amy. It could have been a fuel line anything. I trusted ya'll so I wasn't thinking your mechanic didn't do the job correct. I have pictures to prove that. I did not demand anything but I do feel I deserce some compensation . After Christmas pictures & receipt will be sent to Brandon. We will see how it goes or see you in court. Also gas leaked in clients driveway i was so upset she would be mad but instead she was scared for us. Don't reach in my pocket. I would have had to have car towed from Foxhill to Grafton. You were quick to tell me y'all don't assist with that

My engine lite came on. Had work done. $2k w diagnostic charge of $150. 3 days later engine lite came back on. Couldn’t find the time to get my car back to them since I was moving far away from them. So I took battery off to hopefully reset computer, thinking they forgot to unplug battery. Finally got back to them 2 months later. Surprisingly they charge you another $150 to do a diagnosis check again. I can do that same diagnose check at AutoZone. They use a computer to plug into your car and within 10 seconds you have a code. I just can’t believe they charge me again for a diagnostic fee. Can’t trust people like this who rip you off. When I came back for them to doublecheck and make sure everything was correct they told me something else was wrong. That's when I knew I couldn't trust this place anymore.

Was quoted an outrageous amount somewhere else and when I brought my car into Western Auto they were able to get my car ready to go in only a day for a fraction of the cost the commercial shop quoted me! Highly recommend! Won’t take my car anywhere else!

Just drove 1600 miles from San Antonio Texas to Yorktown Virginia. I needed an alignment really bad. They had me in the shop within the hour. Brandon even used his Uber app and got me an Uber. Extremely amazing customer service and thank you very much Western auto!

We have used Western Auto for at least 15 years. Last night I took my car in and we were number 3 in line to get my squeaky breaks fixed. This is the 4th time they are looking at this problem for me. After waiting until 4 the next day I called to see what they found out only to find out they haven’t looked at the car and they close at 5. They originally replaced my breaks 2 years ago and they have squeaked ever since. I understand that they are busy but a call saying they couldnt get to my car would’ve been nice. Their voicemail when you call the business says cars are taken in the order in which they are received. I guess they decided to go for the higher ticket items and let my car sit there. It’s a shame that this family run business has turned into this.

The company I work for takes our work vehicles here anytime we need service on them and we are always so pleased! So yesterday I took my personal vehicle up here for an oil change. My car feels like it runs so much better! They even told me about a task to take care of to make sure I pass inspection in March! They went above and beyond for me! I will ALWAYS recommend Western Auto to anyone I can!! Thanks so much!

I usually go to Graftix for my inspection but I’ve been turned away so many times due to the lines that I decided to go here instead. It was easier as they have a parking system they use with numbers for your turn. You have the option to wait or leave the vehicle. I was able to get it back that morning. The gentleman here were professional and nice to do business with. Old school feel and you could tell by watching their interactions that they get the job done and aren’t scheming people. I liked my experience and plan to return here next year again.

Do not make the mistake of bringing a vehicle here to be inspected. I can't speak to their workmanship, but to describe their inspections as "overzealous" would be putting it lightly. I HIGHLY encourage you to read other reviews that note this kind of behavior as there are many. Their front desk staff are very kind, and easy to talk to from my experience. Safety elements of a vehicle are important to have maintained and repaired, I fully understand that. However, this place has a reputation for finding one or two completely valid reasons (not arguing this at all) for failure and then hunting for multiple other items to "fail" in separate inspection categories. I hadn't really put much thought to the reviews that noted this kind of behavior and wrote it off as people just complaining that their car had to be repaired. After reviewing the failed categories on my vehicle today, I was surprised to see some of the failure reasons. One of the more interesting notes listed that the tie-rod end needed replacement, which is surprising considering it had been replaced 6 months prior and had been validated by other shops before taking it here. The only thing it even has on it is some surface rust on non-painted areas which is completely expected. Picture of the tie-rod in question is attached.

Service was awesome. I installed a leveling kit and needed an alignment. They did the alignment and relearned my TPS. I always recommend Western Auto.

We’ve been taking our car here for 30 years along with half of the rest of Yorktown. Great family-owned business. You never have to worry about being sold unnecessary repairs. Get those inspections in early in the month!

These guys have outstanding integrity! I highly recommend using them if you’re in the Newport News area. Being in the military, one of the harder things to find is an honest mechanic. We used a different shop in Newport News when we initially arrived. After watching that shop charge us over $200 for troubleshooting we’d told them had already been done and quoting us an additional $800+ to figure out what the issue was, we started using Western Auto. They fixed the same issue in under an hour for around $100. Best shop in the area and honest.

We were able to get our travel trailer in on a Saturday and inspected the same day. They also were able to replace our brake controller that unfortunately broke on the way over there. It can be hard to get a travel trailer inspected on such short notice. The RV stores are booking months out. We'll definitely be coming back!

I've brought my vehicles here for over two decades. They are honest, experienced and knowledgeable, and most of the folks here can explain issues well for my unmechanically-inclined self very well. Their pricing is always competitive, they are fast without cutting corners, and the service is always personable. I can't say enough kind things about Western Auto, and the team there. I'm a big "keep it local" guy to begin with, but I keep coming back because they have always exceeded expectations, so they make the decision of where to bring my vehicles for service very simple. I needed tires mounted on my pig cooker , the tires I had were dry rotted and I needed to get back to Richmond. After going to many businesses no one would help , lucky I saw the Western Auto as a child I remembered we had one on our town years ago and the small town customer service was top notch, let me tell you these guys did not let me down , I was treated with respect and was catered to as if I was the most important person in the world from the management team and the technicians in the shop. I was taken care of and sent on my way safely to Richmond. If you are ever in Yorktown and need this business for anything please don’t hesitate to do so , they will find a way to help you. My vehicle was in need of a rotor, pads, oil change and a few more things. After being told by other auto repair shops about how much some parts would cost, I felt that some of the things they had told me was just to costly. However; I inquired a young man about where might I find a good auto shop. He named a few but one stuck with me the most. After so many years I didn't realize that Western Auto was still around. I decided to check it out. Asked a few questions and it made sense. They had everything I needed and it was the best price available to me. With that being said, customer service was awesome, and they truly did great in making my repairs very easy. I would go there again if needed and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who needs any repairs. You can drop it off and pick it up when they call. You won't find a better price or solution for car repairs. People, don't worry, they don't over charge and they don't take your money for repairs not necessary. Ladies, trust in Western Auto.
