TL;DR Full recommendation, especially for your older (and newer) Benzes
This review is long overdue. I was first introduced to Old Ox on Langston in early 2025 as the owner of a beautiful 1984 Benz 380SL I was interested in was going to them for fixes. Amidst my purchasing, the car wasn't starting. Over a number of days and weeks, Noah at Old Ox worked diligently with me and the car to figure out what the issue(s) were and got it in perfect running condition for me so that I can enjoy the beauty that the 380SL truly is.
Two things that I appreciated most: 1) Level of expertise. The guys here have decades of experience working on classic / vintage Benzes and when you're dealing with those cars, the last thing you want to do is take it to someone who is doing guesswork, potentially running up your bill but more importantly, jeopardizing the vehicle's integrity. As cars that you can't just diagnose digitally, Old Ox's expertise on the mechanics, drivetrain, and everything else allows them to know exactly what to look for and how to approach the diagnostics in the right order to ensure they're tackling the root. They're not the cheapest shop but when you're dealing with these kinds of cars, it is ill-advised to be optimizing for the cheapest and much better to go to experts. And when I say not the cheapest, they are also not exorbitant and don't nickle & dime you for everything. Well-priced for their service and expertise, IMO. And 2) Level of communication / transparency. As a newbie to these kinds of cars, Noah took the time to explain exactly how they were approaching the diagnostics and answered multiple questions that I desired for my own understanding. I still have a Notes sheet on my phone with all the edu he gave me on how my car was designed and is supposed to run. Additionally, he was always transparent in what things were mandatory to repair or just recommended (and why) and let me know what could be upstream after the current thing he was working on. Tbh, I probably held him on the phone too long sometimes as he worked to satisfy all his other clients. But I valued this very much.
Car is running great (and she's a stunner) and I've found my go-to guys for any issues that come up with the Benz. If you have a vintage Benz, there are not many (or any?) shops / people in the DMV that have the deep expertise to work on them diligently like this shop so I recommend them fully. My wife had a flat and I had to come up from Woodbridge to help her get it fixed. The tire needed a patch and the guys got it done right on the spot for me. They were amazing, and friendly.
The employees here are very professional and helpful. They always go above and beyond! They have helped my co-worker out of a pickle as well as myself now. I HIGHLY recommend them.
You guys were great! Our 2015 Prius decided to go into limp mode on the way home and you guys were able to diagnose it, fix it, and even did an inspection all the next day! HIGHLY recommend your business.
In 4 words: Honest, Efficient, Courteous, Professional. The relatively new owners and the staff of Old OX Tire & Auto are fantastic to work with. The communication is top notch, each recommendation is backed by test results, photos, measurements, and validation of the need for the work. Each car gets a full walk around inspection regardless of the reason for the visit. Both our cars have been serviced and maintained by these fine professionals. I am so very glad they moved into the neighborhood.
Fantastic customer service. Very personable and helpful on the phone and I was able to get an appointment the next day. The car was done that same day. The work they performed was excellent. The car is running smoothly. I will be taking all of my cars to them in the future.
My service at Old Ox was professional, completed promptly, and was done at a very reasonable price. I have used a nearby auto repair shop for the last 14 years, but Old Ox is now my auto repair shop of choice.
I had such a positive experience with Old Ox! I quickly brought in my car after the brakes were not functioning properly. They quickly examined my car, sent me a report, and fixed my car within a day or two. Would definitely recommend!

Car places aren't known for their honesty, but I felt like these guys were genuine and honest.
I went in for a few minor things just to keep my care going since we'll be replacing it soon. They did a full health check up, and when they called, they didn't try to push me to do every little thing. Instead, we discussed how long I intend to keep the car and he based his recommendations off of that. He also explained some of the things I didn't understand, which was helpful. I imagine I'll only go to Old Ox going forward, and I've already told a couple friends about them :)
The boyz at Old Ox Arington really came through when our Toyota Highlander had a tire emergency. I regularly monitor tire pressure using the Toyota App which gives an instant reading to my iPhone over the internet. A couple of days ago I noticed that one tire had suddenly dropped 5 psi while my wife was running errands. I called Josh at Old Ox who said bring it right in before any more pressure is lost. Despite full service bays they pulled the tire and found a the leak. Unfortunately it was on the side wall so it could not be repaired. Since tires should be replaced in pairs I had him order replacements. We left the car overnight and, as promised, before noon the next day two new tires were balanced and mounted for a very reasonable price. No fuss, no muss. Very happy with this prompt personal service and that Old Ox has moved in a few blocks away. They will be seeing us again when service or repairs are required.
The place had amazing service and were extremely polite and helpful. They did my oil change very quickly and even checked all parts of my car on top of that. Would recommend.

Old ox has been our primary auto repair place since moving to NOVA in Feb 24. Whenever your car breaks down it’s a harrowing experience (and expensive)! But it feels good to know we are in good hands with old ox! They send us a thorough breakdown with photos of our car every time they inspect it. I brought them a 2002 mercedes SLK 320 that had not been well maintained, including an instrument cluster that was not working. They fixed numerous problems. The car is driving wonderfully, I could not be happier. These people really know their old mercedes and I now have a car that is fun to drive again.
I went in one morning a couple weeks ago as my tire pressure light was on. They helped me right away and were so kind and helpful! They also explained what was going on with my tires and answered all my questions. A great experience.

Please actually read my review and you'll see where I noted "their last tech crumpled up the air filter when they put it back." I never said you replaced it just crumpled it up when you put it back.
First visit went fine. Second visit not so much. Tried to blame damage to cabin air filter on whoever installed it. Trouble is, they were the ones who put it in last. So, they tried to trump up how bad the filter looked in order to upsell the service requested. Sadly, this is a common tactic. I would have let it ride if they hadn't tried to lie and blame it on the last shop...which was them. Or, worse, they were telling the truth, and their last tech crumpled up the air filter when they put it back.
Old Ox conducted a pre-purchase inspection for me and did a terrific job. They provided a detailed digital report complete with pictures, indicated which issues with the car were urgent and which were less pressing to address, and answered all my questions. Noah also provided some additional perspective on the car that was exceptionally helpful for considering the purchase. I would definitely recommend Noah and the team at Old Ox to anyone looking for a great mechanic shop.

I had my Wrangler serviced at Old Ox Tire and Auto, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their work. They quickly identified a serious issue that a previous shop had overlooked, which could have turned into a major problem if left untreated. The team was thorough, professional, and extremely communicative throughout the entire process. They kept me updated, explained their findings clearly, and made sure I understood the necessary repairs. I went to Old Ox Tire & Auto because I heard unusual noises from my car when pressing the brakes and saw this shop has positive reviews online. They informed me that they would need about 1.5 hours to diagnose the issue, with a diagnostic fee of $90. I was told this amount would be deducted from the repair cost if I chose to proceed with them.
After the diagnosis, I was informed that my rear rotors and brake pads needed replacement, with a quoted cost of over $700. I decided to call around and found that every other shop offered lower prices. Subsequently, Old Ox Tire & Auto called me back and revised their quote to slightly over $600, factoring in the $90 diagnostic fee. Despite this adjustment, their price was still higher than other shops in the area.
I returned to the shop to decline their offer and stated that I would go elsewhere. The manager insisted that no one else would match the price I mentioned using “original parts” which I found to be untrue. They charged me over $270 for labor, which was significantly higher than other shops. I did receive a small discount, bringing my total bill to just below $600.
The service took over two hours instead of the promised one hour due to the shop ordering the wrong part. The manager claimed that other shops would close and not fix the car the same day, which I felt was an unreasonable justification for their mistake. So at the end I ended up waiting for a few hours including everything.
After the replacement, I noticed that my car still made squeaking noises while driving (not just when braking). Additionally, the day after, my AC stopped working—though I assume this is a coincidence (that’s what they told me) and unrelated to the brake issue as they told me I’ll have to pay extra to know what the reason for ac no longer working is. I returned to the shop with videos of the noises I recorded, but I was told to come back the next day. The next day I arrived 15 minutes late and was informed that they had taken another car. I agreed to bring my car back at a different time and returned at 12:30 pm. The manager was not present, and a new employee took my car for a brief test drive but did not diagnose the problem. They claimed not to hear any noise and did not check the issue further, despite my explanations and the videos I provided. I stated that noises happen randomly.
I am dissatisfied with the service and do not recommend Old Ox Tire & Auto. Their prices were higher than other shops in the area and they failed to address the ongoing issues with my car. I advise contacting other local shops for better prices and service.
