I called to have my car towed as it wouldn’t start. They relayed my information to the shop. The shop then called me with what was wrong. Great communication between me, the tow company and the shop! I’ll use PGI again!
On a Friday afternoon, an hour before they closed, our car decided not to start, and we were 30 minutes from home. We gave Phelps a call, and they quickly dispatched one of their drivers who towed our car home. We are thankful the good folks at Phelps were willing to help us so close to closing time - and on a Friday, at that! I definitely recommend this company!
My car had a transmission issue and needed to be towed to a different location. I called my insurance and they had PGI tow it to the location, after my cousin had informed the receiving garage that it would be there, as he was more familiar with the company working in a garage himself. Apparently my car had just been sitting there for the last week, because the person who towed my car didn't give them any of my information, and they didn't know whose car it was, all they received was a piece of paper with the cars information and not my own. I called to complain due to the fact that I have been in a rental paid for out of pocket, and blame was passed onto me and the garage it was sent to, saying they were only obligated to pick it up and drop it off. I understand that, that's what il they were paid to do, but the lack of responsibility, professionalism, and courtesy to leave a name and number on the SAME paper they had MY CARS INFORMATION on would have taken little to no effort. And to say that it was my fault instead of pretending to be blameless for their part in this makes me believe that they lack the integrity, and respect for their customers to be courteous enough to leave contact information in the vehicle. Do not choose this place to do anything for you, you will be disappointed and left unresolved if any issues occur.
Beware of Phelp's Towing. Our 20 year old daughter was stranded in a dark, very ruual area in the cold last night with her disabled vehicle. She called the insurance company for roadside assistance. They told her they dispatched Phelp's with a 75 min ETA. A while after that window closed she tried calling Phelp's number she was given multiple times to no avail- call was actually picked up and hung up at least once. Geico called and the same thing happened. They cancelled the call with zero notice to anyone leaving her out there alone.
Their FB page wouldn't let me leave a review, they deleted a review I left in their comments on their page, and when I messaged them they stopped taking messages when I said it was unprofessional to not inform anyone they weren't taking the call.
The new company that was dispatched was wonderful and took care of her. He said he's surprised they called Phelp's because of their reputation that he's heard.

Our car broke down while traveling through VA. Called for a tow - they were able to promptly tow the vehicle AND provide transportation for the family (using the owner’s personal vehicle). These folks went above and beyond to help us get back on the road again. Thank you to Mr. Phelps, Andrew and Becky!
My vehicle let me down yesterday and we couldn't seem to find a tow truck available. We tried again today and Mr. Wayne came straight out and helped us out. Our money was rather low, but God! We thank you for your service and how you was so nice and professional! If anyone need a tow, please call this fine company! They were A 100! Thank you again, Mr. Wayne!
We used Phelps on a Saturday, before the 4th of July. We were stressed from car-trouble and the wrecker-driver was very patient with us. Wish I could remember his name; he was a middle-aged man with short hair and glasses. Very helpful, straight-talking and pleasant.
I'm glad we used Phelps and would recommend them to anyone with a car-issue.
Ron has to be the rudest man I have ever had to deal with. Its bad enough to have car problems; A person doesn't need the extra stress from a rude person that doesn't like his job. If I could give this zero stars I would!
We called Phelps garage when our truck broke down. He spent almost an hour at the gas station, after filling up on diesel, filling up his tire with air. He seemed completely incompetent. He didn't even notice that his tire was completely flat until we mentioned it to him. Overall our experience was extremely poor and our driver seemed completely incompetent.
