This place is the Narnia of amazing vintage finds! George, Chris, and Sandro are absolutely the kindest, most helpful people, as well. Definitely a fun place to go and explore and get creatively inspired to bring the vintage back into your home!

My wife and I were looking for a vintage bathroom sink to restore the original feel in our house that was built in 1941. We went to every antique store within 50 miles of Salt Lake. After no luck we were directed to Gorge's by the local antique store downtown. When we pulled I realized that I have driven past this place all the time and never knew what it was. We asked George ( one of the nicest guys you will ever meet) if he had any old sinks and were told that they had a few out back. To my surprise we walked around a corner to about 50 sinks. We found an old sink like I had never seen before ( A Crane/Drexel ) cost me $100.00 which I thought at the time a bargain. Come to find out what a bargain it was after doing some research they go from $295-$600 on line. Very Pleased with George and his establishment. I don't know why people are displeased with his prices. If you have done any research on line for something vintage or antique his prices are more than reasonable if not down right fantastic. His place is Salvage yard not a Junk yard. You get what you pay for and Quality costs. Thanks again to George and his staff. I will be returning this weekend with more time to see if the towel racks and legs for it may be lying around

George has been instrumental in helping my wife and I find some antique pieces for a pioneer house we are restoring. Always helpful and fantastic to work with, it's always a treat when we can rummage through this collection. I agree with some of the other comments about better organizing the store so we can browse more freely but then again George knows what he has and doesn't seem to have any trouble finding anything we requested. I think he mentioned something about expanding his floor space into another building which would be very helpful for people without a specific grocery list. We are truly grateful George does what he does and saves these treasures from going to the landfill. Highly recommend if you appreciate old but quality American hardware, especially if you have an older house that you want to keep it authentic.

This place is a gem for anyone restoring an old house or wants a unique antique piece. We are remodeling our 1909 avenues home and George's has been our first stop with looking for trim, doors, hardware, wrought iron etc. When going - a few things to expect: wear your and bring a tool or two. This is a salvage yard not a thrift shop. It is not thrift shop prices but you can haggle. A truly unique piece is worth the money your willing to pay so keep that in mind. Expect to spent some time rummaging through A LOT of stuff. Bring a jacket if it's winter. George goes around to old homes and buildings and salvaged anything he can saving this old architectural treasures from destruction. Stained glass windows, doors, trim, old hardware, wrought iron the list goes on and on. There are rooms and yards filled anything you may find useful. It is not organized except that generally categories of things may be housed together. I have spent some time talking to George and if you describe what your looking for he can point you in the right direction. Also keep in mind he keeps select hours / only a few days a weeks so plan your visits accordingly. I am so glad here is a place like this in Salt Lake City. Thanks George.

Been to Georges a number of times over the years and have never been disappointed. If you've got an old place and need something for it, George has it. Bring your own flashlight and grubbies and plan on spending some time searching but you can bet what you're looking for is there and George can probably point you in the basic direction to get started. The place is a hoot to rummage through and you'll probably end up with a lot more cool stuff than just the stuff you thought you needed. Happy hunting!

George is passionate about antiques and salvage, and very knowledgeable. The place is crowded and slightly disheveled, and an absolutely delightful cave of wonders. Like the best used bookstore, but for doors, windows, and hardware. If you like the thrill of the hunt, this place is definitely for you!

George is so nice. I waked past here when I first moved to salt lake and wandered in just to check it out. If nothing else, visiting George’s garage is an exciting exploration. And one time I went and George let me meet his chickens and feed them.

This place was a treasure. I can't wait to start getting measurements to bring to this place and find what we would like. We got some awesome attention and our kids loved the chicken coop. It takes work to find what you are looking for but that is part of the fun for my family.

The best place in Salt Lake if you need a reclaimed door or door hardware! They also have a wide range or other reclaimed materials. I wish I would have learned about them sooner! Very reasonable in price and helpful!

I absolutely love this place, the prices are a bit high but I can understand that. The service you get there the thrills are totally worth it and I love that there is new stuff often. George is very nice and helpful, my husband saw him up in park city at the credit union where he works and George remembered him and even remembered my last purchase there 😅

You have to sort thru the entire store, jump over things, etc. which I can understand because they kind of promote themselves as a junk yard but the prices are NOT junk yard, DI, or thrift shop appropriate. For instance, expect to pay 20 for a door knob and god forbid you haggle or break up a set of something that was under a bunch of crap to begin with. If they ever want to make some money they should consider reducing the prices (and take into account the places around them) or organizing the store.

Cool place with lots to pick through, but the prices are far too high for a salvage yard. 100 dollars for an old window that was found under a pile of muddy wood. Those are vintage store prices, not salvage prices.
