I was quoted 8k, and told by Gene Messer (chevy house) that i needed a new reman transmission. So i ended up taking A-1 my Tahoe to save 4k and have them just rebuild the one i have. Expecting to pay 4k at A-1 for a rebuild, these guys found the problem, that the OEM couldn't find. It ended up costing me only about $500. They could have charged me full price for a rebuild, and i would have never known. That's what i was expecting, that's what chevy told me.
Inn conclusion,
The honesty factor, and workmanship here is top shelf. They have a customer for life. That's the kind of service you don't get anywhere, not anymore.
We’ve had 2 different trucks taking to them. They would so call fix Transmissions and a week later our truck wouldn’t work right. All most $15,000 later for each pickup we had never lasted 3 months. we would call and they would tell us to bring in it in but it would be 3 weeks to wait. We bought in each vehicle paid for them to fix it again just for them to not work properly after a couple days. We would try calling this last time and was told its normal just wear and tear. We decided to take to a different shop and was told the transmissions are total for. Highly don’t recommend!!
This business saved my Grandpa thousands of dollars. Scoggin-Dickey tried to take him for $7,700 for a new transmission and he got a second opinion from A-1 who found the issue was with an engine misfire instead. Prock Automotive did the repair for $970 and his vehicle drives like new again. God bless you all for remaining honest & having true integrity.

Well where do I start 18 mouths back I was having Transmission problem I went to my mechanic he recommend A-1 automatic transmission so that is where I took my vehicle they did find out the problem and fixed it but when they said it was ready we went to pick it up and our vehicle did not sounded right so we turned back and told them something is still wrong and this was on a Friday so we had to leave it til Monday then they called saying it's ready so we go and they tell us that there was dirt in the starter so didn't think much of it now fast forward to today we were having problems with are transmission again I look under my vehicle and transmission fluid was leaking so I call and I told them and told them that was alot of money to be spending for it to be having problems and I only had a 12 mouth warranty and not remember it's already been 18 months and I tell them this that it's weird that I'm having problems right after the warranty is up so he gave me the run around talking about how long they been open in years time and told me how much it's gonna cost and money is tight right now so I just let it be for now and I was gonna schedule in for them to fix it but I also was mad to because this should not be happening 18 mouths down the road so went to another mechanic got the problem fixed and they also told me that they reused the same output shaft seal that is why it started to leak i asked how and they said by using silicone im most definitely not going back to that place.
I am so happy I found these guys! We were on a road trip from Montana and my transmission went out in Lubbock :( We called around and couldn't find anyone to get it done in a reasonable amount of time.
These guys HUSTLED to get it done in 4 days despite their busy schedule, and were so nice to work with. Truck is running great! Better than it ever has :)

They gave me pretty good information about my transmission questions but I wasn’t aware of a charge for consulting them for questions that was not cool just for advice and information. I probably won’t use them again if they have surprises built in they don’t let you know about first. Real talk

I do all of our mechanic work on three work trucks, even things that I don't really have time for, because I'm a bit paranoid about trusting people with the equipment that sustains us. We all know that work quality is sometimes severely lacking in our times and it's not uncommon to find "professionals" cutting every corner possible. I bought the needed equipment and studied for weeks prepared to rebuild our transmissions. As much as I like thinking that my first transmission rebuilds would have been massive successes, I'm very glad I didn't get myself into that potential nightmare. Thank you guys very much for getting us back on the road.

Took our 2010 Chevy Tahoe to this shop on Monday February 10th with a problem with my transmission. We are so pleased with the work and honesty received from this shop. Ken is a good ol boy and we will recommend them to everyone we know!! Ladies sometimes we are scared to take our car to a shop in fear that the shop will screw them over because we dont know any better but we didnt get the run around,just straight foword answers. Had them rebuild my 4L60e in my Sierra and they ended up putting in a shift kit without telling me and wouldn’t do anything about it after I got my truck back. Fast forward a bit over a year and the torque converter goes bad. I tell them about it and they blow me off and won’t do anything to help. They want your money and want you out the door and don’t come back. The owner is arrogant and insists that a transmission built by them can’t break when all they do is band-aid the problems. Junk operation.
A-1 rebuilt a transmission for me 5 years ago and I haven’t had any problems since. This shop does quality work at a fair price and has great customer service.
Super friendly staff who will tell you as much as they know and never misguide you. They are also very quick, I had a new transmission in my truck within a week. They are on thr cheaper side but you aren't going to get this quality work for dirt cheap!
Great customer service, they were very respectful, helpful and they answered all my questions, had my truck fixed and running in less than 24 hours and they didnt charge me 1,000's of dollars.
I got my F-150 pick-up truck with 195,000 miles on it. when the transmission went out at 215,000 miles, I started comparing prices and asking people's opinions. A-1 had the best price, and most reputable reputation in Lubbock. I went ahead and had them fix my truck. Now my truck is running better than ever, and even has a warranty!!! FAST is not a good enough word. They work at light speed!!! VERY courteous. SUPERB service. UNDERSTANDING employees. EXCELLENT work. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone needing transmission work done!!!!!
