Long story but I was so grateful Mike’s shop wasn’t too far away from where my car decided to stop running on Christmas Day at 5:30pm. Here’s the long story.
My family and I were on a Christmas/New Year road trip from Houston to Oregon when our transmission died in Burney, California on Christmas Day. It was cold, dark, rainy, and everything closed, and we were 2,200 miles from home. That night, I found Mike’s shop and left him a voicemail. The next morning at 7:55am. sharp, I decided to give Mike a call and he immediately answered and said he had just heard my voicemail. He drove out to where we got stranded eventhough he didn’t have to, but he did. He then diagnosed the van, and told me that the Torque Converter was gone. After talking to him, he suggested that a remanufactured transmission was the best way to safely get us home since from the diagnostic alone, he couldn’t tell if it was just the torque converter itself or other components within the tranny that also failed. So the safest bet since we were pretty far from home and time was not on our side, a whole replacement of the tranny would be best and quickest. From that moment on, Mike and his family went above and beyond to help us and treated us like family. Mike knew that we didn’t reach our destination which the wife really wanted to see Burney Falls so he offered to let us use his Expedition through out the weekend for free and not sit stuck in our van. I adamant to pay him for using the car but him and his misses refused to take my money.
Burney is a tiny town with no rental cars, no dealerships, and holiday shipping delays. Despite all that, Mike worked nonstop to source a transmission as fast as possible. Again it was super hard to get people to answer him since it was right after Christmas and the coming week was New Year’s.
Mike and Meghan knew that we were anxiously waiting on the new tranny because we were trying to decide as to whether going home in our rental (we drove Mike’s car to Redding and rented a rental from Enterprise that Monday. And we were deciding to whether drive home in the rental which would take us 3 days of driving or to stay and wait until the new tranny get there.) Unfortunately Mike thought that I was still waiting in the area because I told him that we planned to drive back to Houston on Thursday 1/1/26. Mike forgot to let me know of the shipment updates so I decided to leave Burney and started driving back to Texas on New Year’s Eve because my institution was telling me that there was no way the new tranny would make it to Burney on time. When Mike found out that the new transmission was delivered to the Reno’s hub (3 hours from Burney), instead of waiting for it to be delivered after the holiday weekend, Mike sent Megan to drive to Reno and bring it back so he could finish the job faster. They didn’t know us, didn’t owe us anything, and still treated us like we were their good friends. Mike’s gf, Michelle, was also super nice and she was worried for us from the cold that Christmas weekend since we were hunkering down in our broken down camper in front of their shop.
Thanks to them, the van was repaired and running like new. I flew back the following week and picked it up, and drove home to Houston. Megan even offered to pick me up from the airport in Reading (1 hour away) to save me from spending money on Uber 😍.
Our trip didn’t go as planned, but I truly believe things happen for a reason. God put the right people in our path, and for us, that was Mike, Michelle, and Megan. Also the price of a remanufactured transmission with 3yr/500k mile warranty was way better than I expected. Again, thank you so much Mike!
Had a car towed there was having starting issues .they had the car for over 2 months didn't attempt to do anything had to keep going and asking about the progress .never could get a hold of anyone .and tried keeping the car if cash wasn't paid to them.they did absolutely no labor on the vehicle .finally went and took it elsewheres .the dad even said they never attempted to work on it for the past 2 months shop was barley ever open .don't go there !
I have had hell with my car but as soon as I took it over there I was greeted by a man named nate, he was very helpful and informative on what was going on and I am extremely pleased with the outcome! I would definitely recommend! Make sure to talk to Nate when you go!
Brought my 98 F150 and having massive transmission problems Nate, who now runs the shop diagnose the truck immediately they had the transmission out and repaired in less than two days. Super great job great people to work with.
Joe addressed the concerns on my 2007 Chevy Tahoe, regarding the rear main seal. He was kind and diagnosed the vehicle for free, he even delivered the vehicle as I had to work the next day. Highly recommend Mike's for any repair needs.
I will never recommend this place. My cousin took his truck there. Since the beginning this man named Joe Has lied to us We gave him $700 to start working on the vehicle It was never moved from the same spot that we left it that. And he's now refusing to give us the money back. Are the parts for the truck So we're going to take him to court... Sorry but I will Never recommend Any

It’s the WORST TRANSMISSION PLACE!!!! Supposed to have rebuilt my transmission!!! Now it doesn’t even SHIFT. there a disgrace to even be called a transmission shop!!!!

I took my truck here they checked it changed the fluids and filters for me. I would recommend this place. The guy working as I understand is the son he seems cool and laid back a person that you really would want to work with that will work with you and try to help you wherever he can. I will bring my truck back to him for other repairs that might be needed
Extremely dangerous place to be, they are thief’s, they did not fix my car, and after sue thème they stole my car, not qualified, dishonest, looser, the owner is in prison and the son is a thief and layer, don’t go to this place you loose your money and your car
Do not use this company. They use used parts on people's vehicles the owner just got incarcerated for a 10-year sentence for methamphetamines and their son does the same they use customers vehicles and drive them around and pick up other vehicles with customers vehicles stay away
Scam shop takes your money and doesn't fix anything. Can't call or get anyone at business. Lies and doesn't get the job done. Some vehicles have been there over a year with no work done but they take your money. Have several civil suits against them already in put 2 court in Santa fe.
Had fluid service work done and when I got home found bolts that were missing and a drain plug that was not tightened. Not the biggest deal but then when I called to see about the missing bolts never got a call back and would not answer my calls. I wont be going back here. 2 stars instead of one is that the guy was very nice.
I called on a Monday with no answer. Got a call back the same day from a 7369 number. He asked me what I needed, and I told him. It sounded really loud in the background and he wasn’t listening to what I was saying. Asked me to text him instead. I sent him the make and model of the car and what I need. It’s Thursday now and I haven’t heard back. I texted and asked if I needed to find somewhere else. No response. It’s not like my list was extremely difficult. Only an oil change, transmission fluid, and new coolant. I’ll find somewhere else to go and spend my money. If y’all don’t have an opening, just say so. Don’t leave potential customers in the dark and don’t make calls to them when you aren’t going to take a minute to actually listen.
Joe saw us needing a caliber and hose change at o Reilly's so he offered help and his tools. We offered to give him something but he said he was doing it out of the kindness of his heart. We appreciate it joe. Keep doing great things.
I would write about my THREE MONTH experience with this business, but I would have to compose a novel to do so. So, I will just say this... DON’T! Just don’t! You’d be better off watching a YouTube video and rebuilding your own transmission. JUST DON’T!!!

Brought my '04 Tahoe in when the transmission started acting up after 250k miles. They diagnosed it quickly, then worked one night until 10PM to ensure I got it back ASAP.. The owner and his son are both very kind and honest. Would definitely use their service again.
Did fantastic job on my 2005 F350 transmission. Torque converter was locked up. Replaced in timely manner and price was reasonable. Would use their service if needed in the future.

He said they do more than transmissions so if you need repair work.this is the place to go. Reasonable price and quality service.
Joe runs a great repair shop and does more than transmission work. They do all repairs. Mike's Transmission is a fair priced and very continuous in all their work. I highly recommend for all auto and truck repairs.
Dropped in yesterday looking to buy a replacement part or get the part I had separated into 2 pieces so I could re-use the section I needed. The boss helped me out, separated the two pieces and wouldn’t take payment. Pretty impressed to be honest. Old school style shop, doing good things!!
We have been using Mike's Transmission for the last few months on my husband's F250. We have received excellent service on what is seeming to be a terrible truck we bought. Joe came and helped us on the side of the road at 8pm on a Saturday night. I can't speak highly enough about this business and the service received.
I just moved to Tiki Island TX while pulling my camper on I-45 my transmission went out. It was a Sunday morning at 10am. I didn't know a single person here and was lucky enough to get the name of a tow truck driver that referred me to Mike's Transmission. I spoke with my mechanic Joe and could not ask for a better turnout! They set up the tow to the shop, gave me an estimate, completed the work on time, were very professional and the price was unbeatable! Since my transmission rebuild I continue to bring my truck to Joe for everything from struts, electric window repair, emission sensor repair and next will be my fuel gauge sensor this week! Great little shop to fix all of your needs no matter how small or how big. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP FOR ALL OF YOU CAR/TRUCK NEEDS! CALL JOE!
The BEST damn service facility anywhere in Santa Fe, Alvin, Hitchcock or any surrounding cities. Joe and his mechanics go way beyond anyone else in the auto service business. They are friendly, knowledgeable and absolutely reasonable! I will take my BMW nowhere else.
Was in town working and the ball joint went out on my truck. So I took a blind shot in the dark and went with listed Mechanic near me. Mike and his crew showed up and within a reasonable amount of time had me towed to his shop. Wish I knew towing guys name he was a professional at his job. Bottom line is Mike was a man of his word, had me up and running within hours, him and his crew went above and beyond. Honorable, and reputable young businessman that does a great job. Highly recommend!!
Was blessed with a great mechanic and his family not only that I consider him family great work no problem very reasonable plus they work with u I was stuck in a hard place but he got me back in my car and it up and running in no time truly blessed n very satisfied
Amazing service great pricing friendly staff. They worked with me even though i was short on money. Truly went out of their way for me. I will never take any of my vehicles anywhere else again. And i recommend everybody i know to go here.
Transmission was under warranty with our dealership from previous work.so had to take to him. Said problem was the air filter and wanted $216 to replace it. Said no ty to repairs. Still charged $70 for looking at warranty work. When we went to pick it up the owner wanted to argue about us just picking it up and why we didn't want to pay the $216 for repairs. As soon as we started to drive off, it started making noises that it wasn't making before. Took to our trusted mechanic. And they said he messed with the AC in the car. We know there was nothing wrong with the AC before going there since it was just charged. Now getting repaired by our trusted mechanic in Texas City. The owner is rude, cussing us out for not wanting his service. Not to mention the people in the shop just walking around all look like tweekers. Very unprofessional. As soon as you walk in, you get the feeling that you never should of came there. Listen to that feeling. Consumer beware. Read the reviews. Wish we had.

Every business will have a customer who will not be satisfied and I strive to do my best to make my customers happy. I will do anything in my power to make sure the job is done correctly.
