Updated review : as of 8-13-2024, I have logged about 10,000 miles and this engine is still running well and I am getting about 26miles per gallon which is in line with vehicle when new. The engine seems to be a 5 star engine Original review: I purchased a Subaru Forester - EJ25 engine on 1-2-2024. It arrived at my house in two days. I immediately installed the engine and have logged about 1000 miles and it seems to be running well and I am pleased. The engine did require the normal and well documented (on youtube) Japanese to USA engine component swaps. In addition the Oil Pan and oil dip stick was damaged from shipping and handling and required a swap. (I was scared about the oil pan damage because I didn't know if that damage happened while on the car in Japan or during shipping and handling) Also the intake were dirty on one side of the engine but that was easily remedied and has proven to have no effect on engine performance. I was a little annoyed with shipping/handling damage and I wish they would have added a few more boards to the pallet to make it more stable. Engine gets 5 stars. It really does seem to run way better (more peppy and smoother) then the original engine which was wore out and had about 260K. Customer service gets 4 stars not because they folks you talk to aren't nice, helpful and responsive but because they seem to refuse to send you a written quote listing specifics on the warranty other requirements. I guess what should I expect when buying a used engine. Shipping and handling gets 2 stars because it was damaged but it did arrive super quick and what do you really expect with heavy low margin products like these.

Steer clear of this place. I had a few simple questions about 2 different EJ205’s for sale, one (basic long block) without AVCS and one (complete) with. The question I asked about the one with AVCS was if it was pulled from an automatic or manual, and if the model was a forester or WRX. Slight differences, but just wanted the information. The guy did not answer the question, and instead told me I was an idiot for doing any research through forums to ask such a question. Also said it was impossible to use since it was AVCS. After inquiring about the compression on the basic block, he just said not to buy from there and hung up. Awful customer service, zero knowledge about EJ20’s. Pricing seemed good, but not worth the hassle. Picture below shows he’s incorrect, and I will be purchasing from this reputable seller instead.

Bought an engine off these guys and they were never in contact with anything. I've had to reach out multiple times about what the status of my order was. After some curt and uninformative responses I demanded a refund. They want to enforce a 30% restocking fee for an item that's still in their warehouse, and where they never showed evidence of postage information. How do you restock an item already in your facility with no evidence that it was being prepared? Edit: Was going to give 2 stars because he did refund me after PayPal stepped in but saw that he replied with a blatant lie that I kept the engine. What proof do you have that you sent the engine mate? You guys can give him a go - lots of 5 AND 1 star reviews. It's a lucky dip with John here.

This is a great source for JDM parts. We were looking for a replacement engine for a Mazda rx8 and chose JDM auto parts USA because they had the best price and comprehensive pictures. A sales rep contacted us to make sure the engine we bought was good and provided more pictures. After that, shipping was very fast. The engine arrived in great condition and it came with many extra parts almost all of which were in better condition than we had. In the end we got the manual transmission, alternator, starter, compressor, intake manifold, and harness cables in addition to the engine and after installing everything the car has been running very smooth. My car died and I was having an impossible time finding the part I needed. After intense searching I ran across JDM Auto Parts and did a couple of searches and they had my part in stock and right up the road. I bought it immediately and against my better judgement I emailed almost immediately asking if it was possible to ship it same day in hopes it would get to me in 1 or 2 days. I bought an engine and installation for my 2005 Maxima. It has never run right since I took it to a local shop (Sharrock) and this is their opinion: Current opinion on engine is that its 100% not a new engine. Honestly dont think its a used one either. Think engine was removed and resealed. You can see new gray silicon on the upper and lower oil pan. The camshaft position sensor is covered in silicon like its leaking and instead of replacing it someone just covered it in silicon. Looks like if the motor was removed it was from out the top. The cradle bolts have not been touched but there cats have been disconnected from the manifolds. There are leaks coming from valve covers and oil cooler along with ones at front cover. Has new struts but sway bar end links are completely torn and busted. Wire harness is zip tied everywhere. Engine mounts have collapsed and broken causing engine to vibrate real bad at idle. Who ever did remove motor to either replace it with a used one of tried to reseal current one did not do a good job or even half of a good job. I don't see any heat tabs for a used motor on engine anywhere or see any markings for salvage yards to identify. There are markings on hoses and engine like someone had to mark where stuff went in order to put it back together. Can not 100% confirm it was replaced but I think it was only removed to fix oil leaks that are still leaking. Service sucks, John sold me an engine for a Honda Civic that did not work on my car, he order me another one and 10 days later the engine he had order for me to replace the first one had a lot of water inside the cylinder head and inside the intake manifold. Sent him pictures about the water and told me that he cannot help me anymore if the engine didn't work. I went back to JDM to talk to him and try to get my money back and he told me to go to hell!

First engine ej25 Subaru had a rust intake valve. They traded me for another one. The second one had a bad head gasket. I removed the heads had them resurfaced as you should on a Subaru. Put it all back and it was the block is not flat. I called and they told me the warranty is over. 3 days ago. The car has never hit the road. I have done many JDM swaps. Never had any problems. But this place is the worst. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Just purchased an engine from here a couple of days ago (4,000$). Knew i was going to have to work on it, but dang. Blown turbo AND blown clutch right from the jump?! Hope your pockets are deep buying from here. If you want a drop in and go engine, I'd search elsewhere, because this...isnt...it!
