My experience with AAMCO was a little different than one would expect. Ultimately, I called because I had an indicator light on in my vehicle and was getting nowhere with the dealer. Or another mechanic. AAMCO got me in the very next morning and ran a diagnostic. They discovered that my issue should be covered by the warranty and recommended I go back to the dealer, and insist they take care of it. Crystal there at AAMCO was super kind, thoughtful and very honest. She went above and beyond to research recalls and warranty info on my vehicle and didn't want to me to have to pay a ton of money if the dealer was responsible. They also helped me get my vehicle there when I was in a pinch. I will definitely use them going forward for any of my mechanical needs and highly recommend AAMCO. Honest people, who do honest work is treasure. Thank you Crystal, Matt and your team.
The entire staff here has really come through for me this summer! Crystal is such a joy to talk to and work with. Makes having to get your car fixed not sting so bad!

A week later I was driving home and my car was not running correctly on the hot Texas Highway. My transmission blew! The report from the dealership specifies that there was no new fluid added, and the old fluid was still in the CVT. LIVID. even to this day!
I’m from out of town and needed to get my transmission fluid changed. I made an appointment online late Wednesday night, 8:30 Thursday morning, I’m on the phone with Crystal and she told me the cost (which is reasonable!) and when my car would be ready, about 24 hours. Absolutely amazing and friendly staff! Much appreciated your support and willingness to get my car in so quickly.
They totally ripped me off. Thousands and Thousands of dollars. and they could not fix my transmission right. Kept blowing engine codes. Bucking and jerking. Go into Limp Mode. Went to another ?AMMCO an hour away. I was told a hose running from the transmission to the radiator that had a leak that was not put on tight. There was not enough transmission fluid in my car and it was a quart low. They said, it was a $20.00 transmission relay fuse was the problem. I told him I knew it was an electrical problem the whole time when I was blowing fuses when they replaced the transmission throttle valve position sensor. Continued to have more problems and the person a corporate would not help me and they would not honor the warranty. My transmission was ruin by them and had to buy a new car.
Mr. Phillip and Crystal were both excellent. I took my truck to Ford and they quoted me $11,000 and said I needed a new transmission. Mr. Phillip said to let him look at it for free and at least give him the option to have a second opinion. They inspected the transmission and were completely transparent and honest throughout the entire process, telling me that it was on the verge of being replaced but could also be serviced. Leaving the choice up to me.
Mr. Phillip was excellent to work with, answered all my questions and ensured that I received the best quality customer service. He was honest, helpful, transparent, hardworking and positive.
My transmission is now working great and they earned a customer for life.

My 2014 gmc is known to have transmission problems, and the workers at aamco are the best people to go to! They treat you like family and give you the best service! Only took 2-3days to get my truck back up and working properly! THANK YALL SO MUCH!!

Words can not even describe how amazing this business is as a whole, and with their service. Great people and great service. I came to get my car checked for a humming sound, and they found the issue the same day and worked to get it done that same day. The staff was amazing at keeping me updated with what was going on and what my options were. I had to replace both front wheel bearings and hubs. They were very willing to work with me, and even with it being easter weekend, really pushed for the best repair job. They care for their customers and want to get you back on the road safely. Very grateful for them and the time they took on my car.
A different body shop had told me that i had a bent axle so i went to get a second opinion at AAMCO. Mr Phillip was super helpful and took a deep look at my rear for free. His guys were able to diagnose that not only was my axle bent, but there was substantial damage to my differential(something the other shops had completely missed). They even took me under my truck and showed me the proof! I called the other shop to see if I could get a new quote with this in mind, as I’ve had a pretty good relationship with them and this was the first mistake they’d made, so I was willing to give them a 2nd chance. They quoted me $700 higher than Mr Phillip and wouldn’t give me anywhere near the warranty that aamco would. Mr. Phillip let me take my time in my decision and didn’t even charge me for leaving the truck there while I decided on how to move forward. I must have called them 5 times to ask questions, and they were always glad to answer. I just signed off on getting the repairs done, can’t wait to see the good work these guys do!
Went some where else to get my truck serviced to see why my check engine light was on they told me it was something that would cost 700 dollars to fix decided to call aamco told them about it and he told me to bring it to them because I waisted 130 dollars some where else they told me that he wasn't going to charge me for looking at it I recommend everyone to go to them very nice and kind people we living in the times where times is hard for everyone and this gentleman knew I was frustrated when I talk to him and just want to get my truck fixed 5 star rating for me thank y'all for great services
Best place to get my transmission replaced and rear differential repaired. Phillip went above and beyond in getting my truck operational again. The staff is very friendly and professional , I recommend this place if you need service.
Got a diagnostic check here and was provided the invoice. Decided to pick up my vehicle & consider alternative options. Upon picking up the vehicle manager & receptionist questioned me on my decisions. They were very rude and reluctant to provide my keys. Clearly the conversation was going south, so I firmly asked for my keys so I could leave. Manager told me to “get the hell out”.
The staff outside of these 2 Individuals were great. Not sure what I did to deserve the treatment from the manager & receptionist.

Amazing service all around. Free inspection for issues. Quickly diagnosed the issue with my brakes and let me know easy to understand details the entire process. Front desk was very helpful and respectful. The service was done very quickly with no surprise fees. Super flexible with my school schedule of when to pick it up and drop it off. All around a great service from AAMCO and I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

I had a good experience here. They fixed my truck a couple of days before Christmas. Maybe another shop would not of found my transmission radiator leaking inside my regular radiator. I will most likely take my truck again there for any other reason.
Beware of AAMCO—They will try to trap you.
Here’s how they get you: After you bring your car in, they’ll inspect it and then call you with an outrageous repair estimate—for me it was $6,000 for an unnecessary repair. The person you talk to on the phone isn’t even a mechanic; they’re a salesperson trained to upsell. You’re then presented with two options: either agree to their expensive repair or take your car back—but not without paying their excessive “inspection fee.” They’ll claim it took them 2 hours at $387 per hour, totaling $774 just to look at your car. At this point, you’re effectively trapped. You either pay their inflated repair price OR cough up the inspection fee just to walk away with your car.
Thankfully, I avoided their scam by deciding to pay the fee and taking my car to Brazos Valley Automotive. They inspected the issue, charged no ridiculous fees, and fixed the car for just $290. It’s running perfectly now, with no unnecessary repairs or drama.
Save yourself time, money, and frustration—avoid AAMCO at all costs
I’ve tried many places for great auto care and, AAMCO finally showed me a trustworthy place! Phillip and Crystal will always keep you updated and be honest about what your car needs and how much time it will take. As a full-time student with a job, I need my car, and AAMCO has done a fantastic job at giving me and my car the best they can!
All around wonderful folks from a warm welcome at the front desk to well mannered mechanics in back.
The free diagnosis requires you to be able to leave them your vehicle for around three hours, so early drop off is recommended, but well worth it.
This allows for very accurate repair needs, costs, and time line for completion.
For me it was a full front brake job, and full 100,000 mile tune up per my car's manufacturing requirements. Repairs are never cheep, but safety first, dependability, and peace of mind from their 12 month 12,000 mile warranty make it worth it.
My heater blower stopped working. Called AAMCO in College Station Spoke with Phillip friendly call . Drove my car to the shop very friendly and professional costumer service the shop feels like home friendly atmosphere. A+++ Service Good job . Well satisfied with the staff will return for repeat business
If I could leave zero I would, was told I needed new brake pads and rotors..... Went somewhere else...... And it was just the clip on the pad that was broke, nice try but just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I don't know enough to know when I'm trying to get screwed out of my money. Furthermore, in response no they weren't the other shop showed me. Literally took me out there and measured in front of me, to which your technician did not. Everything is working perfectly fine with replaced clip. Rotors nor breaks pads needed to be replaced.
This is the best auto shop I have ever visited in the Bryan/Cstat area!! Phillip and Crystal were willing to help me (a broke college student) and go above and beyond to finding a solution to my car. They are extremely friendly, and some people I will never forget!! They made my week and I wish this business the best!
It's always been hard to know who to trust in the car (anything) industry. When I took my Honda Odyssey in to ******* and they came back with my transmission bad plus other maintenance issues with a $12400 price tag! So, obviously, I needed a second opinion on the transmission, bc that was the priciest and biggest issue.
I called up AAMCO. I picked them, honestly bc they had the best reviews. And Philip (and his mechanic) did not disappoint. Very personable and friendly, we chatted a bit while they ran a free diagnostic.
The gist of the story is- they cleared an error code, took our van for a drive - and could not get an error on the transmission to repeat. Our van (like before), was driving smoothly. The mechanic could not see any issues with our van.
So, my experience with Mr. Phillip and AAMCO has been 5 stars and a place I will be going back to with any of my car issues. Highly recommend. * * * * *
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE
Before you read my review, here are the key points:
- This shop will take advantage of you if you look like you know nothing about cars.
- Their lead mechanic does not know enough to do basic transmission work.
- Take your car to Gladney Automotive instead.
I drive a manual Mini Cooper, and it needed a new clutch. I don't look very educated about cars, which is entirely incorrect. I walked into AAMCO knowing exactly what the Mini needed replaced and roughly how much it should cost (my guess was $1700-1900), and I was waiting for them to confirm what I already knew.
I got my quote back after a couple hours, and it was $3064. INSANE. I called and asked for the breakdown of what they were trying to charge me for, and before the man on the phone even sent the email, he magically took $138 off the price. When I got the estimate breakdown, I noticed they were trying to replace the whole clutch master cylinder assembly, which is completely unrelated to the issue my car was having. Additionally, AAMCO was trying to charge me $1500 for a clutch disc kit that is $350 anywhere else. When I called again and asked them to explain these charges, I talked to two managers and bombarded the tech with technical questions, none of which anybody had proper answers to. At the end of the call, another $700 magically disappeared from the price... FOR THE EXACT SAME SERVICE.
If this is not explicit proof that AAMCO will take advantage of you if you don't look like you know something about cars, I don't know what is.
Additionally, I taught their lead mechanic what a dual-mass flywheel is. Their tech also broke a piece of trim off my shift knob, and after I called to respectfully confront them about this, and the owner refused to do anything about it. THESE GUYS SUCK.
Take your car to Gladney Automotive.
Fast, reasonable and great service!
My alternator died, so I took my car to where I bought it. Not only did they take for ever just to give me an evaluation and quote, the also charged me a ridiculous amount of money for just an alternator.
I called Scott here at AAMCO and he was super diligent and great! Prices are what they are supposed to be, and he was very straight forward from the beginning when it came to times and what needed to be done.
I will be coming here again for everything my car needs from now on and it sucks i didn't before.
