Bracken Recycling does a great job unloading items and being sure you are paid various amounts for the different materials. Helpful, hardworking, and great staff.
This is my favorite recycling place around San Antonio. All of the employees are super helpful and friendly. Best of all they unload the trailer with a magnet versus doing it by hand. What a huge time and back saver!
I know this review won't make any friends in the recycling game, but I have to disagree with the other reviewers, as well the accolades given for service, fair prices and overall experience. In each of my 3 visits to bracken, i arrived in an excellent mood, yet, shortly thereafter, I became Yosemite Sam, questioning the intelligence of a rabbit that somehow always gets the best of him. It is my contention that if I were a gambler, I wouldn't expect to win big 3 times in a row, nor lose in the same amount. However, recycling shouldn't be a gamble. It should be fair trade and respect for the others time, especially when there are other recyclers out there. A good haul can take a full days work and half a tank of gas to get there. Breaking even will never be worthwhile, and everyone loses, so to then have someone incorrectly explain simple mathematics to justify their profit versus my net gain of .07 cents in my opinion should be accompanied with a slap to my helpers face, as that might actually make it worthwhile. I'm joking of course, but what else is there to do? I know it's not the market prices causing issues, so where else would the days earnings go? Now my helper wants to slap me in the face! I have never had this same problem more than once anywhere else. It is perplexing to say the least.
Good service nice people, the only salvage yard that helps you sort your stuff and tells you how you can make more money. Lots on new people helping in yard. but still great service and best payouts in town.

Aluminium cans giving 25 cents. No over 100 lb where generally a nickel more. San Antonio - all were giving 30 cents + 5 cents more over 100. Don't care if your veteran operated, you don't have the big city taxes. I'm not going to even mention the 80 cents a lb for copper.
1" Most likely what you thought was copper was not copper. or it was copper that have way 2 much other metals on it to even be considered to be 1. 1 copper is clean of all other metals 2 copper can have just a little bit of other metal on it. but if you have a piece of copper that has 30 present other metal attached its no longer copper If you want copper prices clean you copper

Tried scrapping for the first time today. Everyone was so patient, friendly, and helpful. I really appreciated it.
I probably won't scrap again though. Filled up my mid-size truck's bed. Made 12 dollars :)
I think one needs a trailer (or needs to live reallly close) to make it worth the effort.

I was the one responsible for unloading my vehicle while the employee went thru all my stuff. I was only paid $28 and my suv was literally packed to the brim. The lady said it was all iron when I know for a fact there was alot of other metal in there. For the gas and time and energy put it it definitely was NOT worth it.
Outstanding experience. Knowledgeable, helpful, courteous staff. Highly proficient. Great prices. They make you feel at ease with the entire experience and answer any questions you may have to increase the price they pay. My only "go to" for recycling.

This was my first time there. I was greeted and unloaded quickly and back on my way. Definitely a good experience and I love their YouTube videos. They are informative and humorous.
I gave myself the opportunity to come back after I was upset because they denied me material And they're charging me for a bowling ball that didn't come in my trailer. And I weighed some rotors in two different places with a weight of 880I weigh the same pounds in both places and here I barely weigh 780 pounds. 100 pounds difference is a lot of nerve It would be better if I had not returned to this place. Here they rob you with the peso and pay less than in I don't recommend other places at all if I could give less From a star I would I'm going to find out who checks the scales in the city to report to these people, the difference is a lot and after that you can't see the weight like in other places ⬇ The worst thing in San Antonio for a reason it's never full
Ive recycled ay the place for many years, easy to deal with and always go out if their way to get you the most money for you're scrap item. They've taken everything from old car parts to just junk from around my house or work and gave me cash for it. Definitely recommend.
I've never scrapped metal before and I had a bunch of old car parts from a old project that were just laying around. Rims, suspension components, and a muffler. Easy process. Just drove in and parked in an open slot and was quickly greeted by someone to assist in removing my metal from my vehicle. Very friendly service. I had brought my personal car, which is a sports cart, as I don't have a pickup truck to haul much. They were extra careful removing the scrap metal from my car to avoid scratches which was really appreciated by myself. They guided me every step of the way from scrap removal to cashing out in the form of a check. Very helpful all the way through.
I've been going here for a little while and they are very helpful on metal that I'm not sure of and they are right there every time to help me unload and sort through everything so I can get in there and get out and get paid. They're good workers and friendly to everybody.
First time here and it wasn't a bad experience. It's a closer location to me than the normal recycling site I normally go to but didn't want to make the drive so decided to try this place out. Was greeted by a nice young lady and she helped me make recycling aluminum cans a smooth process. Can't say much on the other rates for items collected but do wish the rates were as good as the other place for aluminum cans. However, it was fair enough and had a nice experience.
Also, be sure to have an ID on you just in case and ready to show you're face if you're wearing a mask.
The absolute best scrap yard there is. These guys know their industry and how to get you the most out of your scrap! Highly highly recommend! Can't say enough good about this company.
Pro tip (from a rookie) : Ask questions! If it's a bit overwhelming the first time you drop a load of scrap and you don't know anything about it...ask questions. Everyone there will tell you how to get the most out of what you have. Go check them out and also check out their YouTube channel for more tips and tricks.

This is a great recycle yard. Owner seems like a great guy and the staff are excellent. The scale prices are very competitive and I feel confident I am getting accurate weigh-ins because their scale calibration cert is prominently displayed. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. I don't scrap as much as I used to but I always go here when I do.
What an excellent experience! The technicians showed me how to get the best price for the different types of steel I had. They also helped me with some stainless, aluminum, and batteries. The weighing process was easy and accurate and the payment was fast and easy to understand. Thanks again!
Very respect place and always helpful. Everytime we come Mr.Anthony Todd I think his name is come to help us unload the trailer and gives us helpful tips on what metals we can get more for. He's very respect and generous to us when ever we show up. Even the front desk clerk are awesome they really know how to bring it and make a customer feel welcomed.
I was given a rate of 7 cents per pound for my metal items. I had a total of 120 pounds which gave me a total of $8.40. I don't know if that's a good rate or not, but at least I didn't have to pay to get rid of my metal items.
The staff were responsive and addressed me as soon as I pulled up. The whole process took about 5 minutes from start to finish which I though was very fast.
Overall, if you're not into scrapping and just want to try to get a buck or two for metal items you're trying to get rid of, this is a good route. If I had known how little I was going to get I would've gone another route such as selling on craigslist or donating the items habitat. It wasn't worth the trouble of loading and driving way out for $8.40
