Mine is a question , do the take crushed cans or uncrushed? I have a furnace and ive made ingets. I like watching them melt lol do they take melted ones they are square i don't have any other size.
Every body is so nice! Specifically Gino and LaLa. They came out and helped me sort everything by grade to help me get the best price I could for what I was turning in! Best recycling experience I have had anywhere.
These people are AWESOME! It was my first time there, and I was welcomed warmly and treated great! They run the place with integrity! I just absolutely cannot say enough good things about this business and my experience there!
So today 12/22/25 I went to recycle some items at bracken . I’ll will be the last time I ever go there . I went recently two trips . The feeling I get from them is how am I going to scam this customer . And I got scammed . The first trip I went on the scale . Dropped the metal off I showed the guy some electrical wires and he said if you want to make more money cut the heads off and the ends . He called on his radio to verify on price . .55 cents a pound with head . $1.20-$2.20 . So I cut the heads off and returned wouldn’t you know it .55 per pound . So all that work for that price I even told him I follow the instructions. Well I will never go back and I’m sharing the scam with everyone I know . I know lots of people in my line of work
Deserves more than 5 stars, been going to a lot of other scrap yards and they’re alright but this place in my opinion is the best one !! Helpful friendly staff, and the top best price for your scrap
I was a loyal customer to Bracken recycling for about 2 years, till I went in one day and was told that I was no longer able to scrap my metal there due to an incident that occurred with another customer. Not knowing what they were referring to I asked and they explained to me that a customer said that I harass them and tried to run them off the road for taking a piece of my scrap metal out of my truck after I was dropping it off. Makes no sense right? Does that make any sense at all? The answer is no and these people are 100% absolute Liars and would not listen to anything I had to say. I was never in any altercation with anybody at the scrap yard or anywhere else for that matter. How can I be presumed guilty when I have no idea what they're even referring to? This is what you call corruption and bad business these folks were told something by somebody with it was not true and instead of investigating and asking me they assumed that I was guilty and Banned Me from scrapping at the scrap yard. Do not do business with people like this they also are going to get a letter from the Better Business Bureau because this is discrimination against the customer who's done absolutely nothing wrong. Don't be the next victim of discrimination by this company go elsewhere
I love this place. All the employees are always so helpful and nice. The service is always quick and easy. In and out service. The guys in the back always make me chuckle when I'm dropping metal cuz they are forever having huge grins like they really enjoy their jobs in the hot Texas sun. Lol and the guys in the warehouse are just as nice and informative and believe me have a huge amount of patience for ones like me. Lol I am new to scrapping and did my research but learned a lot more with these guys and am grateful for their knowledge. They also have really fair decent pay outs. Thanks Bracken, y'all have made my life way easier in the hard times my family is going through. Y'all Rock!!
Bracken Recycling does a great job unloading items and being sure you are paid various amounts for the different materials. Helpful, hardworking, and great staff.
This is my favorite recycling place around San Antonio. All of the employees are super helpful and friendly. Best of all they unload the trailer with a magnet versus doing it by hand. What a huge time and back saver!
I know this review won't make any friends in the recycling game, but I have to disagree with the other reviewers, as well the accolades given for service, fair prices and overall experience. In each of my 3 visits to bracken, i arrived in an excellent mood, yet, shortly thereafter, I became Yosemite Sam, questioning the intelligence of a rabbit that somehow always gets the best of him. It is my contention that if I were a gambler, I wouldn't expect to win big 3 times in a row, nor lose in the same amount. However, recycling shouldn't be a gamble. It should be fair trade and respect for the others time, especially when there are other recyclers out there. A good haul can take a full days work and half a tank of gas to get there. Breaking even will never be worthwhile, and everyone loses, so to then have someone incorrectly explain simple mathematics to justify their profit versus my net gain of .07 cents in my opinion should be accompanied with a slap to my helpers face, as that might actually make it worthwhile. I'm joking of course, but what else is there to do? I know it's not the market prices causing issues, so where else would the days earnings go? Now my helper wants to slap me in the face! I have never had this same problem more than once anywhere else. It is perplexing to say the least.
I have used Bracken Recycling for the past 15 years. I have shopped around for best pricing on metals and in most cases they offer the best pricing. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
Tried scrapping for the first time today. Everyone was so patient, friendly, and helpful. I really appreciated it. I probably won't scrap again though. Filled up my mid-size truck's bed. Made 12 dollars :)
I think one needs a trailer (or needs to live reallly close) to make it worth the effort.
Ive been to just about every recycling yard in and around san antonio.i have never had any workers help us as much as Angel and Nick B.Very helpful and respectful.i must have thrown away thousands of dollars with other recycling companies until I came here.thanks again Angel
I was the one responsible for unloading my vehicle while the employee went thru all my stuff. I was only paid $28 and my suv was literally packed to the brim. The lady said it was all iron when I know for a fact there was alot of other metal in there. For the gas and time and energy put it it definitely was NOT worth it.
Outstanding experience. Knowledgeable, helpful, courteous staff. Highly proficient. Great prices. They make you feel at ease with the entire experience and answer any questions you may have to increase the price they pay. My only "go to" for recycling.

I've never scrapped metal before and I had a bunch of old car parts from a old project that were just laying around. Rims, suspension components, and a muffler. Easy process. Just drove in and parked in an open slot and was quickly greeted by someone to assist in removing my metal from my vehicle. Very friendly service. I had brought my personal car, which is a sports cart, as I don't have a pickup truck to haul much. They were extra careful removing the scrap metal from my car to avoid scratches which was really appreciated by myself. They guided me every step of the way from scrap removal to cashing out in the form of a check. Very helpful all the way through.
First time here and it wasn't a bad experience. It's a closer location to me than the normal recycling site I normally go to but didn't want to make the drive so decided to try this place out. Was greeted by a nice young lady and she helped me make recycling aluminum cans a smooth process. Can't say much on the other rates for items collected but do wish the rates were as good as the other place for aluminum cans. However, it was fair enough and had a nice experience. Also, be sure to have an ID on you just in case and ready to show you're face if you're wearing a mask.
What an excellent experience! The technicians showed me how to get the best price for the different types of steel I had. They also helped me with some stainless, aluminum, and batteries. The weighing process was easy and accurate and the payment was fast and easy to understand. Thanks again!
I was given a rate of 7 cents per pound for my metal items. I had a total of 120 pounds which gave me a total of $8.40. I don't know if that's a good rate or not, but at least I didn't have to pay to get rid of my metal items.
The staff were responsive and addressed me as soon as I pulled up. The whole process took about 5 minutes from start to finish which I though was very fast.
Overall, if you're not into scrapping and just want to try to get a buck or two for metal items you're trying to get rid of, this is a good route. If I had known how little I was going to get I would've gone another route such as selling on craigslist or donating the items habitat. It wasn't worth the trouble of loading and driving way out for $8.40
