Just left Clark iron and metal and wanted to give a huge shout out to the lady that works in the cutting area She was very accommodating and helpful I was needing pieces 2 foot rebar and she had them done in a matter of 10 minutes. I would recommend this business to anyone who’s looking to sell or buy iron products.
They've got me twice on scrap aluminum...but won't again.The last two times I've taken in aluminum I've taken a few pounds,nothing major,but a few pounds.Both times they've paid me for "irony" aluminum which is defined as aluminum contaminated with 10% or more of other metals,plastics,etc.How is a SOLID ALUMINUM driveshaft with no nuts,bolts,u-jounts...nothing removable..."contaminated"? Or several other items that are all aluminum with the exception of a lawn chair frame that had 6-8 small plastic brackets,maybe 2-4 ounces total,also 10% non aluminum?

I been coming to this business at least once a month for the last 3 years because is close to my house, but today when I went back to the scale after dropping off the metal I had with me I he guy at the office came out asking me where is the other person the passenger that was with me when I first got there, I was surprised that he asked me that I responded that I didn’t have any passenger with me and told him to check the cameras, went to the office and he kept saying that I had somebody with me when I first got there I even told him to check my van if he wanted to his response was that he is not worry what I’m leaving with from there but what I had when I got there I told him to not worry about my money that I wasn’t doing it for the money I just wanted to get rid of the scrap metal and left.
Some people might do that to get some extra money but thank God I don’t need to do that, you guys need to do better before you accuse somebody without been 100% sure and without proof.
I needed some metal for a trailer build and went to Clark iron for some pieces. The lady and man in the metal shed were not helpful at all. I asked about c-channel and they told me it was on backorder. Okay no big deal, so I asked about angle and also u-channel. They proceeded to sit and smoke and do nothing to offer help. Said I should just walk the scrap yard and look.
Do not take your metal or scrap here they charge me different amounts every time and I bring the same stuff every time this place is ripping people off! Prices were lower the week before and got more than when the prices were up and had more weight! Then I got told to break it down they would pay more and still gave me the lowest grade! I will not go back there ever again Laverne junk yard is way better!
I come to Clark for both business and play. The guys are great, quick, and very friendly. 12/10 love watching them use the cranes to empty the little scrap trailer I use.
Fast, easy and I get help when I ask for unloading my scrap. Even if I just have one item I'm treated well.
Just don't park too close to the building or you might get a nail in your tire. Hey, it's a scrapyard.
It was my first time there at the place in Murfreesboro. I was recommended though someone I know. Very honest and generous staff members. I was in and out. They buy and sell. I went in to sell my aluminum wheels. I got back a good amount.
For over 20 years I sold metal to Clark Iron and have always felt cheated. Today was the day to prove my assumption. In the pass 20 years when I question the low pay out of my scrap metal, I was told it was because of being mixed and they did not have the time to sort it out individually and weigh each piece separately.
Today was my test day to prove my deep feeling in this matter, and here is what I experience. I sold a Chrysler Mopar steel wheel to them weighting 22 pounds. They paid me $1.98 and labeled it as “Mixed light Steel”. When I question the owner about this, here is what he explained to me. All the metal he buys is label mixed, even if it is aluminum, copper, steel, brass. I explained the dictionary meaning of the two words, pure and mixed.
The first of his management teams asked me if I wanted to be paid the inventory cost which is less. I said no, just let the owner know that there is a difference between mixed and pure. So, he said, I will let you tell him. So, he motioned with his hand to the boss to come out and speak to me. He did not want to value the acknowledgement of the two words either. So, I asked him if the word mixed was use for accounting purposes and he said no. He explained to me that he uses that term to compensate for his mixed inventory. So, that tell me that I am being paid less to subsidize his mixed inventory, which I do not feel good about.
Good people to bring your junk metal to sell and can also buy different types of metal merchandise, it's a little tight quarters trying to bring a simi through the roads but they work with u to get u unloaded as quickly as possible.
One thing I do not like is the scales. You have no way of knowing how much weight you have because they are the only place i have been who doesn't show you by a digital screen. They dont want you parking in the middle of the scale but rather on the end which gives a total different reading i know because other scrap yards have the scale screen an you can see the difference when you roll up on the scale. Better watch the material you bring in because you will get ripped if you dont know what you have. Tryied to give me sheet aluminum price for extrusion aluminum. Think i will go back to Nashville.
I have been told about this place several times by different people about the quality that you get here. All I can tell you is they have their stuff together! I bought new steel at the gates that I want and the sizes that I want for just a little over a 3rd of what lows was trying to charge me And that's with them making some cuts. They even have scrap steel out in the yard that is only 25 cents per pound for loose scrap steel. If you want quality and people that care about the community this is where you need to be when purchasing steel. They even buy scrap steel at a good price
Not the best price on a few metals BUT you will walk away with what you should have.Clark Iron & Metal is simple, convenient, & doesn't discourage small recycling for our younger generation, first time recyclers, or just small loads in general. They have 5 gal buckets, med & large containers & the most important thing is HONESTY. There's nothing worse than going to a place like Mid Tn Metal Exchange where the owner does the weighing & rips people off. I gave him 2 more chances cause they're open on Sat, but yet again, my weight & his weight was significantly different. When somebody STEALS from you, it's the worst feeling. You've saved the metal & look forward to the small reward, then you leave Md Tn feeling like a con just smoothed you over. When you have a country lead by dishonesty, it becomes contagious & submissive consumers seem to accept this behavior and are willing to pay higher taxes, prices, & trust far too many companies with their own well being. It's SO important to choose & support the more HONEST companies like Clark Iron & Metal.
RIP Woody.. Your kind heart, positive attitude and willing to be constantly outgoing will be missed. Buying stock or scrap by the pound will never be the same as you can't just replace someome with traits like he had.
Gonna suck to ride by his building and not have him approach me and ask how I've been.

I've recycled metal there over the years and very pleased with the process. Yesterday was the first time I went to buy metal tubing for a project. Not only did Woody take good care of me with custom cuts but he made my day with his humor. Thanks!
Their slogan should be "we pay more because we don't pay for what it is!" P.o.s's just tried to give me #2 for solid copper no coating because it wasn't shiny! No wonder they claim they pay more! They're just crooks.
I drive past a few other scrap yards to get here because these are good trustworthy folks. Woody is always super helpful, he goes out of his way to help everyone and truly enjoys his job. It's always a pleasure to be in the presence of someone doing what they enjoy and doing it well.
Woody is awesome! He helped me find exactly what I was looking for, and wondered around with me as I searched, making conversation as we went. Loved it! I will be back :)
