Nice lot never used before i was picking up a vehicle with friends and a fellow was so helpful he jumped a battery for us so we could move out vehicle before gates closed .
truck sat on side of rode for less then 10 hours. go to pick it up they towed it. now saying it's 603$ to get it out no warning or anything. sad honestly.
For one, my car got towed out of MY RESERVED PARKING SPOT that I PAY 210 dollars a month for. It was a rental car that I had because my car is getting work done on it and it was for One night in an apartment garage that they apparently have “ no connection with the complex.” Honestly that is besides the issue, the main issue was the rude skinny blonde little boy who had the audacity to be pretty rude to me. He was about to try and charge me an extra 30 dollars for the 24 hour fee because they towed my car at 5:32 and I got there at 5:52 the next day, mind you, I wouldn’t have even known my car was gone if my roommate did not tell me and I walk to class because I am a student at UT which is why I could not pick it up the day of towing because they close at 7, or in the morning or afternoon because of class. He said it was my lucky day that he didn’t charge me because since someone brought in extra money that they do not give change back on, he was going to use that for me. I don’t really know if I should consider this a blessing or weird that he was even going to use someone else’s money for me or that it was a 20 minute time difference. Secondly, he asked what happened to my personal car and I said it needed its radiator fixed because of a pot hole and he snarked and said, “ how do you not know how to change a radiator?” Then laughed. For one, is this supposed to be some common knowledge we are supposed to know? I’m not a mechanic so maybe that’s why. I would have been funny if it was in that demeanor, but it was CLEARLY in a condescending way. At this point I was already frustrated and just wanted my car back and then he proceeds to tell me not to drive irrationally out of the lot or mess any thing up. For one, why would that be my first thought to do donuts in this rental and Nissan Altima in the 20 foot of space I have out of here and what was I going to mess up. There were some other things, but I was honestly just over it and overwhelmed with everything and just the immediate rudeness to everything I had to say that I just wanted to leave and I know if I said anything about his actions, he would have probably tried to charge me 300 dollars because that’s apparently how this works at this place. Overall horrible experience.
⭐ 1 Star – Warning to Anyone Dealing with Tristar Towing and Transport LLC
If your vehicle ever gets towed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, beware of Tristar Towing and Transport LLC (formerly Dan’s Advantage Towing & Recovery). This company takes advantage of people during already stressful situations.
After my car was towed from a wreck on Rutledge Pike, they charged me over $600 for a tow of less than 3 miles — a trip that took under five minutes. This pricing is outrageous and feels like blatant price gouging.
To make matters worse, they only accept cash, which is highly suspicious and completely unprofessional. I was given no reasonable explanation for the excessive fee or the refusal to take credit or debit payments.
Because of these unethical practices, I have reported Tristar Towing and Transport LLC to:
• IRS – for possible tax evasion due to cash-only operations
• Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance – for unfair and deceptive business practices
• Better Business Bureau (BBB) – to warn other consumers
The owners, Josh Paris and Suzanna Paris, should be held accountable for this predatory behavior. They overcharge, restrict payment options, and exploit people who often have no choice but to pay.
After researching their history, I discovered that they previously operated under a different name — Dan’s Advantage Towing & Recovery — which was administratively dissolved:
• B2025695693 – Inactive Date: 08/11/2025
• B2025314296 – Delinquent Annual Report: 06/10/2025
It’s no surprise they had to rebrand.
Bottom line: Do not trust this company. This was the worst towing experience I’ve ever had, and I hope this review prevents others from going through the same ordeal.
We called 4 other tow companies and waited an hour on one just for them to cancel. Dan’s answered and came within 5 minutes. Reasonable price too. Was nice to have such a quick response!!
These people truly care and have outstanding ethics.My husband was towing our rv and had a heart attack totaling both vehicle and rv and the owner tow truck driver and Jordan especially did everything to help me find out what hospital my husband was at and where my dog was as I was out of state They also made sure to secure personal belongings that couldn't be replaced easily and returned them to me.I can't say enough good things about them.I will be forever grateful for the compassion and integrity they showed my family. They are truly caring people. Thank you guys!!!
After my car got towed, i called to see how much it would cost to retrieve it if i came in when they reopened. I was given several different prices before being given a final price. Then i was told that payments are cash only and have to be exact change. Knowing this i called again before i went to pick up my vehicle, only to find out that it would cost significantly more than what i was told in the previous call. After reading the invoice, the amount of bogus fees was mind boggling. The most shocking part of the whole thing was as i was being taken care of at the front desk, one of the drivers walked up to the desk drinking a Michelob beer. To say that i am angry with this company is an understatement.
Wasn’t even towing my vehicle. Brought my neighbors vehicle back and got stuck in my yard! Told me they would fix it but it wasn’t the COMPANYS RESPONSIBILITY! They said the driver would have to do it on his own time. Disrespectful to their employees. And then I get shrugged off. Never came to fix damages. Disrespectful to others. Will never recommend or use.
Very rude to me when I just asked about their pricing had my car for about 2 hours and charged $30 storage and $245. Knox county changed this law in august, pretty legit question, must’ve been a bad day for them. Pretty outrageous to a college student but it’s the maximum they could legally charge me, so I guess knox county is more to blame.
Wouldn’t have left a review if the guy at the front wasn’t so threatening.
Without going into too much detail, all I have to say is that the owner is truly a genuine person. If it wasn’t for him, I’m not sure how I would have been able to get my car back. These people aren’t bad people, they have a job to do. But doesn’t mean they won’t extend a hand to help either. I have raved to many people about y’all! . Thank you again Josh!
I had the luxury of breaking down on my motorcycle on the worst side of the highway, but thank god Jonathan took the call, I had 2 other companies refuse to help me because of the unfortunate location i was in before jonathan showed up and didn’t bat an eye, he had me and my bike up and moving in 10 minutes after TDOT was able to block the road. outstanding customer service and care especially with being in a very dangerous spot on the road!!
The operators at Dan’s damaged my vehicle’s drive axle seal and did not adequately repair it. This is unsafe, unprofessional, and not the right way to treat customers and/or their vehicles.
John was amazing tonight! I was sitting on the side of the interstate for 3 hours(not their fault) I was on the phone with my insurance for 2 of those hours. They wouldn't send anyone out because I was on the side of the interstate this was the ONLY towing company that would come out. He had to tow me down to the next exit so he could change my tire. He could have just towed me and made me wait another hour or 2 to get someone out there. But he changed the tire for me. He made a bad week good again. We offered him some cash for having to come out so late and having to do what he did but he wouldn't take it. He told us he was new but he's AMAZING!! So glad he came out and helped! Definitely an asset to your team!
Would be zero stars but not an option. This place is charging me for time they didn't have there ducks in a row. They ignore all actual laws and block reviews that shed light on it. Johnson v Bradshaw 772 f supreme court ruled that a tow company cannot keep a person from accessing there vehicle nor assess charges without first holding a hearing to describe there intent to do so. This place is a scam. They're trying to sell my car so I can't prove all the stuff they stole out of it. While violating my fourth amendment rights.They reported my vehicle damaged in multiple places and that it was silver.
HIGHLY recommend these guys! We rented a uhaul and had issues getting the rear door open to get our stuff out. Then we couldn’t get the truck up the driveway because it was too steep. Josh and Trenton came to our rescue and were awesome! They were able to guide fix the door and guide us up the driveway!
Wonderful service. Gary just showed up on I-40 to check on me and see if I needed help. In fact I did. He drove me to the Honda dealership and was a great help. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much I appreciated this. Gary is amazing at his job and was very professional. Would recommend to anyone.
So I have a Tesla model S that has had some mechanical issues (drive unit failed) and I've had to tow it 3 times by different companies before today. Finding a company to tow it is a problem they don't put in the fine print prior to a Tesla purchase. Each time I have tried to tow it, the tow driver has struggled getting it on the flat bed usually taking 45 minutes or more. Today I had called a different company to come tow it only to be told that because my drive unit is bad it lowered itself and he couldn't and after he looked at it wouldn't tow it to prevent damage. So I called Dan's, and within an hour Gary (tow driver) was there. Gary did show concern about damaging the vehicle but was confident we would have no problems, he had my POS on the flatbed in 10 mins or less. Gary was helpful and knowledgeable about the vehicle and delivered it with no damage.
Again thank you Dan's for helping me out in a pinch and having good people like Gary.
My car blew a radiator hose in traffic yesterday. Called Dan’s and they said they’d send someone out, but didn’t have a flatbed available. My car is a bit low, even though it’s still on stock suspension. They said it should be fine. I trusted they knew what they were doing. About an hour later, a flatbed rolls up and they got my car up and on without incident, towed it to the shop and got it off also without incident. Friendly people, quick response (relative to other experiences friends have had with other companies) and even though I was out of their normal business area, they had no problem getting me taken care of! Thanks guys, for helping me out and being kind and understanding on a day that really was upsetting for me!
Don't waste your money and especially YOUR HEALTH hiring these guys. These guys agree on a price with you per hour worked, and when they arrive at the location they tell you that the hourly rate is charged from the time they start the truck to leave. Then they stop at the gas station and fill up the tank before leaving to meet you and charge you for hours worked anyway. Well, when they arrive at the location they say they can't do the job there and they insist on taking the truck to their yard in the name of safety and if you complain they say they will leave you there without help, but since you need help ends up accepting. There in their courtyard, they are extremely disrespectful, they insult you, they threaten you all the time that they will stop doing the job if you complain, etc., that you don't know anything, only they do. They force you to take the truck to their yard and there they start dragging you around in every way and charging you for things that weren't agreed or informed, because now you're in their house. They give you the wrong account number to trick you more, so they charge you more per hour standing in their yard. They hold the truck for a whole weekend, "to pay off the payment" and then they don't let the driver get back into the truck, not to mention they keep cursing and belittling the driver. I almost forgot to mention that they don't deliver your truck after 5pm. so if the service is on a Friday, they will charge you for the entire weekend.
We had our drill flip on a jobsite. They was fairly quick and reasonably priced for a crane. They even helped us load it onto our trailer. I would recommend again thanks Corey.
I'm a local owner operator. I parked behind a shopping center around the corner from delivery a week or so ago, no signs posted anywhere that I could see. i was awoken at 3 am with THREE tow trucks surrounding me on all sides. I rolled down the window and was greeted with "Don't try to run, we have chained up to your rear bumper". Seriously? How professional. I had no plans to 'run'. I was told that I would only be unhooked if I paid $450 cash on the spot. I asked about the lack of 'no parking' signs and was told there were signs 'out front and at the other end of the parking lot'. This is a HUGE lot. I passed no signs at the rear entrance. I'm not the type of idiot driver that parks right in the front of Walmart. I was given no opportunity to move without cash payment.
I was forced to walk to an ATM close by to get cash after the tow driver would not negotiate with me at all since I only had $300 cash.
So, as a local owner operator who owns and runs trucks and trailers and occasionally need towing services guess who I'm NOT going to call? Nice give and take from one small business owner to another. I will never use or recommend your services to anyone and you better believe I will go WAY out of my way to spread the word.
I had a super load that was brought into a site it had no business going in. Corey and Ray were awesome! Knowledgable and safe while being affective at their job. They caused no damages to the load or the truck and trailer. Corey, Ray and Trenton helped us out the next day to stack our trailer and other attachments. Great crew that I’d l recommend to anyone in need of a wrecker or rotator.
Omg don't get towed by this company unless hell has frozen over or you have a friend with money to burn. Most of all if possible record ANY correspondence with them because they will call you an out right Liar. My vehicle was towed at 3am Saturday I have a gps locator in the car that woke me up saying it was being tampered with. My son had ran off the road and the police called chestnut street to tow the vehicle. They said that no drivers were available at that time So Dan's towing showed up instead BIG MISTAKE. Thanks officer! My charges are from 3am Saturday til Monday morning (cuz they don't tell you well our services are 24 hrs but we only have lot available 24 hrs Monday thru Friday.) Because the dispatch works out of house on weekends. I called at 4:26 am Saturday morning asking if my vehicle was at 1724 transport lane. The guy answering phone said yes. I told him I would be by to get the car later that day because I was a truck driver and couldn't call off, said I'd be back around 4:30 pm he said that would be fine. Got back in town went over there all locked up. Called the # no answer. My wife called oh ya we're closed til 7: 30 Monday morning. Call in at 10 am today (Monday) to see about getting the car released ya but it gonna cost $975 I said for what, I need to buy a tow truck if I can make $1000 DOLLARS IN 2 DAYS! So go down there to see the car and they ask for the registration HELLO IT'S IN THE CAR WHERE IT BELONGS. I go get the registration out of car take pics and go back to office ONLY to be told OH YA we only accept cash. Thanks for telling when we talked earlier. The fees $375 to show up $375 to winch on to truck $160 storage fee (which I was told we only charge $40 a day) Don't get towed on a holiday 3 day weekend) and 15 dollars tax. I'm sure that was to cover the drivers breakfast or something. I said you know I have had a tractor pulled out of a ditch before they only charged me $150 a guy in the room said they must have been idiots The county sets the fees we are aloud to charge we don't sets those. HE SAID AND I QUOTE I DON'T HAVE A 1972 BEAT UP WRECKER OUT THERE THOSE ARE $500,000 TRUCKS AND SOMEONE HAS TO PAY FOR THEM, END QUOTE I called chestnut street and they said that was to much money I KNOW RIGHT. I called knox county sheriff dept. They said Dan's towing was lying to me THEY ARE A PRIVATE BUSSINESS THEY SET THERE OWN RATES. SO SPREAD THE WORD MY FELLOW TRUCKERS DO NOT ALLOW DAN'S ADVANTAGE TOWING AND RECOVERY TO HOOK TO YOUR TRUCK THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. FOR THEM NOT TO PUT DRIVERS IN THE POOR HOUSE JUST FOR TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING! I was also told YOU DID NOT TELL ME YOU WERE A TRUCK DRIVER by the dispatch guy. Improperly towed an awd vehicle with j hook chains snapping a control arm sensor but would not accept responsibility for the repair. Stay away. Update: owner responds to review and once you talk to him never follows up on issue.
This company is the definition of what GREAT customer service means! I had a truck get stuck in my own front yard during a move, and when I called Vincent he was so kind and talked me through everything. I believe it was his wife that was in the office too and she was so sweet they were making me laugh in what was a really difficult situation. He immediately got one of his workers named Shawn to come out and help me. They were AMAZING. I work for an insurance company and plan on sending all jobs I get to them based off that wonderful experience. They went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Very reasonable priced. And a very happy customer! Please use them if you are in need of a tow!!
It was raining really bad and my tire just blew up and to make it worst my car key broke and could not move at all, I was on the side of the highway at midnight and nobody wanted to help me out cause it was raining I had to tow my truck almost two hours away but they were the only ones that helped me out and did not give me any excuses. Nathan the driver was so professional too I really appreciate what they did for me

Kudos to Chris! He was professional, efficient and friendly. He towed our 45' 5th wheel and dually truck as a combo. It was a 2 hour drive to our destination and his professionalism never waned. Thank you!
After calling other companies, Dans was the only one that came out with big enough equipment! We had a skid steer stuck in a pond and they went above and beyond to risk their own equipment to get us out! (Their equipment never got damaged because their operator was too skilled!
