This towing company wrongfully took my truck straight out of the reserved parking spot I pay extra for every month at my apartment complex. No notice was left on my vehicle, no explanation was given, and when I asked for documentation of why it was towed, they had nothing to provide.
When I went to pick up my truck, the staff were extremely rude and unprofessional toward me. On top of that, my truck now has a new dent and the alignment is messed up after being in their possession.
They even tried to claim I wasn’t in my assigned spot, which is completely false. Because of their mistake, I had to pay expensive towing and storage fees, I missed work, and I had no way to get to class.
A company that tows vehicles out of their rightful, paid spots, treats people disrespectfully, and returns vehicles damaged is dishonest and predatory.
Update: Their response accusing me of “lying” shows exactly how they handle customer feedback. I don’t appreciate being called a liar for telling the truth about what happened. I’ve kept photos and documentation of everything, and I stand by my review. The unprofessional tone and poor grammar in their reply speak for themselves.
These people are crooks and the worst towing company in town. They charged me $245 for a 4 mile tow. I have a family member with a towing company who would only charge $100 for a tow at that distance. They also charged a friend of mine $100 dollars for his car that was not hooked up yet. Every driver who works with them that I’ve met is extremely rude. Absolutely without a doubt the worst towing company in the state of Tennessee.
This place won’t care about their reviews because they do not care about anything. We were towed during a UT game and we live over an hour away. He tells us $245 flat and to bring correct change. I was able to pull $171 together and they tell me I can go to an ATM up the road. So we take off walking again, and the ATM is out of money. We called and asked if we could CashApp them or something. He said, nope, the price is set. I hope one day they feel the same way they made us feel today. It would be different if my car was towed because someone called to have it towed, but they just drive around finding cars and towing them. It would also be different if I was trying not to pay them, but they just would not take anything but cash. One day they may be in dire straits and reach out to someone and I hope they are dealt the same courtesy as we were shown. Maybe they will think about how many people they have put in danger walking the streets at dark just so they can make a dollar. Terrible excuse of a company. May karma come and take care of you.
Theft of vehicle! Towed my daughter's car from her apartment complex at 2:42AM when she was legally parked in a spot she paid for with her parking sticker in her window. She was required to go in and pay $245 CASH! Hmm why cash only? Tax fraud as well I'm sure. No one from apartment called for a tow. They just took it upon themselves to tow which is theft. My lawyer will be reaching out.
I can tell you that nobody is more reasonable in towing than Floyd's. My numerous experiences has demonstrated to me that he has a heart for people. He's been in business for over 50 years and has helped a lot of people in a lot of ways. The owner and the drivers will try to help people if they come in and are honest and respectful. Sometimes we only see one biased side of things in the towing business. I mean, who's going to evaluate a towing company and is happy that they got towed especially if it's not a wreck or they didn't ask to be towed. If people get towed, and they don't expect it, it's normal to be upset with it. So I would also caution anybody who looks at reviews to consider the type of tow that's involved. For example, a lot of negative reviews seem to be from people who shouldn't have been parking where they were. They like to blame it on wrecker drivers instead of owning the responsibility that they didn't have a tag and were parked illegally.
You can tell all the low reviews are by people who got their car impounded for parking illegally. Instead of being responsible and owning their poor behavior and a illegal parking at Knoxville area apartment complexes, they blame it on the wrecker company. I guess that's just part of being young is to blame others instead of being a man or a woman and accepting responsibility. I can assure you nobody preys on any college students or person or group. These apartment complexes all around downtown Knoxville and UT campus contract with wrecker companies to enforce parking for the people who have paid for the spots and or rent from these apartment companies. The wrecker companies are only doing their job. So it's time to start changing your behavior and stop blaming others for your poor decisions.

So I was stuck at a house after delivering door dash.. I had a flat . The fat plastic lug nut that holds the tire down was stripped and couldn't get it off. My brother tried to Use his Air Compressor but it wouldn't hold air . I thought I had Road side assistance and I didn't so I called Floyd's Towing Service I asked how much it would be to have someone come out and get that piece off so I could change my they said $75 I said okay so Greg and Rick came in the tow truck to try to get that piece off they didn't have the right tools so they said they'll be back they were going to the office to get what they needed.. come back they got it taken off and change my tire and didn't charge me anything.. it was such a blessing cuz I didn't have $75 to pay and had to have a friend help me with money and when I asked the Them how much it would be if they can take cash and card and they said don't worry about it just considering a blessing I was stuck for 2 and 1/2 hours just trying to change a tire and they said their friend doordashes and has a similar car and they felt bad for me so they were going to help me and not to worry about the cost that was such a blessing and I appreciate them so much Rick and Greg thank you so much for being kind and generous and helping me I will definitely pay it forward there are still good people in the world and I was blessed to have them help me.. thank you so much..
All too often companies hear of bad stuff but tonight is something different. Rick and Greg were awesome. They arrived within mins of requesting help. They came out and helped my sister in law with a flat tire where her spare was stuck in the wheel well and had to be chiseled out because the bolt was stripped. They got her tire changed out and back on the road as quickly as possible. They were a huge blessing and will never know how much their help and kindness means to us! Thank you for having guys like them working for you!
Trash company and trash employees! I stay in southside flats. This is the 2nd time Floyd’s has towed my car. The 1st time I had a sticker in my car and they still towed it even though I’m a resident. They gave my car back free without me having to involving any civil matter. The 2nd time I had to park by the office because I never have anywhere to park in the front at night so I parked by the office. Even though I have a sticker they still towed my car because they couldn’t see my sticker because it fell off my window. I told them I have a sticker and I asked them could they please let me go to my car to get the sticker to prove I live there and I was parked in the right place. They refused to let me get my property out of my car nor would they let me show them any kind of proof I live there. They started yelling and started cursing at my mother. He also had a gun on his hip trying to show me he has one. I called the police and the police made Floyd’s let me back to my car to grab my property because they said it’s against the law to not let me get my property. They basically told me since I called the police I’m not getting any of my property. The police was on my side but on the down side these rude terrible terrible people at Floyd’s are making me pay the full price of $250 even though I was a resident and they basically stole my car even though me and the police proved that I’m a resident of south side flats
I called Floyd’s wrecker service to tow my vehicle , to my local mechanic when it had broken down , the driver was very inexperienced and scratched my car with the rack of his wrecker, he originally denied doing this and when I showed him footage from my doorbell of this mistake he told accidents happen
the city of lnoxville has been in on this scam since 2009. i paid at the time $200 civil court cost fee to sue the city and the tow company. they towed my car and when i showed up at the tow company in (2009) with $150 cash to have my car returned to me. I started to ask questions, why they towed my car? I was 19 it was my first car. they refused to return the car to me. i had to pay again to start a court case in civil court $200. after the tow company sent an attorney to represent them, the judge reset my court case three times. on the third time the judge awarded me $197 because the tow company auctioned off my car a 98 bmw 318i 240k miles used from craigslist. i paid $1,800 for the car in 2009 and the kelly blue book for it was $6,300. I had no car at age 19 and had to walk to class at the TN technology center for 24 months monday through friday from 8am to 2pm. And to this day I have never registered a car in TN again to much PTSD. Its a shame the city of knoxville allows this to continue 16 years later shame shame shame :(
First of all, they tow without authorization. They often steal people’s cars even if you follow every parking lot instruction and pay accordingly. Second, they only take cash and expect you to have just shy of $250 when you go to reclaim your stolen vehicle.
The business is a scam. Contact the city of Knoxville, report them for illegal behavior, and let’s see if we can get justice.
This past weekend, I legally paid for parking at 119 W Summit Hill Dr SW. When I returned to the lot, my car had been towed. I contacted Floyd’s Towing Company, who told me I could retrieve the vehicle for a $245 fee—cash only. I immediately arranged to be dropped off at their lot late at night with payment in hand, only to find no one there. After waiting over 30 minutes, someone finally arrived but refused to release my car, simply because I was asking questions about why I had been towed and what steps I could take to dispute it.
This is not just a frustrating experience—it was a dangerous and unsafe situation. As a young woman, being dropped off late at night at the lot where I had left my car, only to find it gone and no one initially available to help me, left me stranded and vulnerable. It is completely unacceptable that someone in that situation, with full payment ready, would still be denied access to their vehicle. I was forced to return later under duress just to recover my own property. The entire process felt more like a money-making scheme than a legitimate enforcement of parking regulations.
How do you tow someone that was parked in vistor parking for 20 minutes, then say it wasnt parked in visitor parking. Came to check on my daughter's apartment while she's out of town and get towed!! Only did because I have out of state tags! You guys are what's wrong with the world. Main reason I moved from this crappy city, people like you!!
They Are Crooked & Janky. My Car Was Parked Up Against The Fence In Visitors Of My Friend’s Apartments Slightly Due To The Fact The People Beside Me On Both Sides Were Parked Over The Lines. My Goal Was To Make Sure My Front End Was Not In The Street Because They Would Have Towed Me For Sure Then ! Meanwhile They Are Going Around Preying On People Because They Are Trying To Make A Quick Buck! Hell If You Do Hell If You Don’t These People Are Going Straight To Hell ! I will pray for them cause they will need it! On Juneteenth is even crazier! Nothing but the devil!
Paid to park on state st have receipt in hand they tow our car Saturday night charged us 245 cash would not accept any other form of payment. These people are crooks how the city of Knoxville lets this go on is a disgrace.
Unless you're one of the people who are towed for parking illegally you can expect a good experience and even they are treated with respect they are just having an exceptionally bad day. Keep in mind you don't call a tow truck when you're having a good day and that can put a lot of stress on everyone around you, and the guys do a good job nevertheless. I've used them for years with no complaints.
I was a guest at Southside Flats Apts. visiting a senior citizen an was told by the resident to park my vehicle down by the mailboxes because the rest of the parking lot was for the residents. Long story short the resident was misinformed of where to park cause my vehicle was towed. I ended up speaking to a very nice gentleman that worked at Floyd's Wrecker that gave me hope of things were going to be OK. He definitely is my Angel.
I got towed from my own apartment complex. After taking two Ubers I was told that I had to pay $245 in cash upfront. I had to walk to 2 different ATMS to get money. I am a college student and this is money that I needed. Very disappointed in this company that obviously preys on college students.
Went to visit Family and was parked in what I thought was a visitor parking spot, but Unfortunately, I Wasn't. Floyd towed me but did Me a "SOILD" at the same time. He understood my situation and still charged me, but nowhere near what he should have or was supposed to. Thank you Floyd VERY APPRECIATED!!! I'll call him if I need a tow just because
I was towed from my own apartments. I just received the car as a gift the night prior and the office was closed where I lived they say there’s visitors parking but there’s no sign indicating such. There’s never any parking where I live but the company floyd’s picked my car up ALTHOUGH there where several other cars from the night prior with no sticker still sitting in front of my building in the area the area they are not supposed to be in my car was only there for a few hours and I was charged $245. If they are going to do a job it should be equal for everyone I eventually punted 10+ cars in parking areas they are not supposed to be in. Preying on people like this is insane. I showed them my address and they still treated my car like it was a visitor definitely reporting them to the better berau. Clearly I’m a resident but they did not care
Definitely predatory towing company. They towed my son's truck on a Saturday morning when his friend had let him park in his reserved parking place. They drive around campus looking in certain lots for any vehicle that doesn't have a sticker or tag. $245 when a normal tow might cost $100 or so. Don't use these guys, there's gotta be better companies out there.
my friend had an AWFUL experience with this company for parking in an overnight visitor parking lot. when he tried to calmly resolve the issue, he was cursed out at and eventually made to pay $250 cash. i’ve been towed before but, $250 for a visitor lot is ridiculous.
Definitely takes advantage of young people. Was staying at my friends apartment overnight and got towed from the “visitors parking” TWICE. Same thing happened to another one of my friends who was simply bringing a first aid kit to our friend, and had to briefly park in a “future residents” space. When he left 30 minutes later (after giving someone stitches, by the way), his car was gone. Another time I went to visit, their tow truck blocking the entire road, towing a car at 5:30pm (which was in a visitor spot, again), and backed up traffic for half a mile, which doesn’t sound like much, but it was rush hour, and the car they were towing was already hooked up to the truck, and they wouldn’t move. Honestly, they’re just incredibly annoying, and they take advantage of college students and young people who will pay their fee because they don’t want to argue and/or don’t know better. Good business tactic, won’t lie, but incredibly unethical. Do better. This is insane.
I'd honestly give this company a proper 4 star rating if their rates weren't so high but this is what they do. They contract with nearby apartment complexes to allow them to come inside and see if there are cars that aren't parked properly which is completely fine, however, their fee to get your vehicle back makes no sense. If I was to call a tow company to tow my vehicle to a shop it'd be around $80 and you can take it halfway across Knoxville. However, with the power they hold, they will charge outrageous prices just because they towed you for parking in an incorrect spot. They towed me 0.5mi and they charged me $90 to get my vehicle back. I think that's crazy considering the fact that I came back 1 hour after my tow to get my vehicle and it's the same if it's 1 hour or 24 hours after. I'm pretty sure they damaged my under tray as well. Just keep in mind it's not worth parking in a wrong spot because it's not like they'll charge you $50 they'll charge you a whopping $90 to get your car back. It's pretty dumb if you ask me how they take advantage of the situation and charge such a crazy price for such little labor. It's just a game at that point
Highly wouldn’t recommend!!!!! My ball joint broke so I needed a tow. Tow man comes instead of pulling my car from the front he pulled it from the back instead of him straightening the tire if he pulled it as is. He broke the lower control arm and axle bent the fender back etc..after days of calling to get in touch with a supervisor they basically said there’s nothing they could do cause I have no proof that it happened. The guy knew he was in the wrong he didn’t even charge me for the tow. So they have no record of my car ever being towed.
Every Tow company i called that was near was at least 2 or 3 hours out and was expensive. Josh was there within 20 minutes and even got it driving for me! Definitely a big help in a stressful situation! Thank you Floyd's!
