This is a great place. Trustworthy and nice people. They replaced my clutch kit and flywheel, gave regular updates and pictures on the condition of my car, and even gave me a lesson on how to avoid wearing out my he clutch in the future.

I found Dun-Rite by accident when when I needed a tow for my Subaru Outback, and I've been so impressed by the communication and level of service at their shop. Marty was super responsive (text and calls) and took the time to explain the issue and my options. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
On Sept 16, 2025, while on a 6 day road trip, we experienced a rear axle "clunking sound". Our first two stops in Florence said "We can't help you", but that second one pointed us one block back to Dunrite. We were warmly welcomed and noted as a "couple on the road needing some help". They made Brandon, a lift bay and several technicians available and very quickly the noise was identified as loose driveshaft bolts. New Red Loctite and we were back on the road. No money was allowed to change hands. Only a handshake and "We were glad to be of help". Truly one of God's many Blessings. Thank You.. Donrite.
Amazing help! Went with their recommendation of a fluid change for my transmission, and has helped significantly instead of opting for the more expensive repair. Will definitely be back for an issues I may have in the future.
I needed to have the transmission replaced in my 2013 Chevy Impala. They conducted a thorough inspection and provided me with a detailed report of everything that was wrong with the car. They also offered recommendations for what was necessary to keep me safe and ensured that I understood all my options. They replaced the transmission in a timely manner and exceeded my expectations with the quality of their work. I am very pleased with the results, and my car drives much better than before. For those of you traveling on I-95 and passing nearby Florence, SC away from home with automobile issues, this is the auto repair shop for you. Not only are they AAA approved and family owned, but they treat people like their own family members with compassion, care, quality service, and integrity. Words can't relay just how blessed and grateful we felt in finding such a professional and trustworthy auto repair shop so far from home in Florida where we not only could easily have our vehicle towed directly to Dun-Rite Automotive through AAA using the shop's own tow truck, but the shop was willing to squeeze the inspection of our car into their very busy schedule (easily seen by the amount of vehicles already sitting on their lot). Much thanks to Brandon, Marty, Jessica and the entire team who went above and beyond in helping a stranded stranger feel right at home in Florence, SC while efficiently helping us get to where we were going in Virginia. My only regret is not living locally to Dun-Rite Automotive, as we would definitely use them as our permanent auto repair shop. This repair shop reminds me of the quality "Mom and Pop" shops of years gone by where not only are prices reasonable, but where customer service, work ethics, reliability and timeliness are top priorities. Johnny with Dunrite towing and the guys with Dunrite automotive are truly remarkable people. In the midst of a crisis he and his crew showed up willing to help however they could. I called crying and at the end of my rope because my car was overheating. They got to me quick and I got my car back in just a few a days! My wife and I were almost at our destination for our summer vacation with the kids before school starts again. Car was running perfectly and then out of nowhere, it lost power and died. It was 4:00 PM on a Friday. Worst case scenario when your 6 hours from home. Called Marty and he was more than happy to help us out and even gave suggestions on getting a rental car to continue our trip. The shop was quick to get our car in first thing Monday morning and communicated with us every step of the way. Our car was ready to go well in advance of our return trip and has performed perfectly since then. Dunright is a great shop and I , as a mechanic myself for over 20 years, would highly recommend them to anyone for all your automotive and towing services. I will definitely go back. I was having an issue that we couldn't figure out. Dun-Rite figured it out and gave me options on how to proceed and we went with the 1st level option and it's working great. I want to trade my car in for another in about 6 mos and this option is allowing the plan to happen on a "budget" I'm happy with. They are not only knowledgeable, but friendly and communicative. I recommend them to anyone having car problems!

I can’t say enough good things about Mr. Rodney and the entire team at Dunn Rite Automotive and Transmission. We brought our van in for what turned out to be a full transmission replacement, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional.
Mr. Rodney was upfront, honest, and took the time to explain exactly what was going on. Transmission work isn’t cheap or easy, but these guys handled it like true professionals. They kept us informed every step of the way, and we never once felt like we were being taken advantage of.
The replacement was done efficiently, the price was fair, and most importantly—our van is running better than ever. You can tell the whole crew takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about doing right by their customers.

I have a 2016 nissan altima. The transmission went out more or less. I called around and was trying to get a quote. Dun's shop said I'd have to bring it in for them to inspect before giving me a quote. So I had it towed there by one of there tow trucks. I live 9.8 miles from the shop (16 mins) and was charged $90 if I'm remembering right, for the tow. Not sure if that's a good or bad price. Cool thing about this company is they do a whole detailed car inspection on your vehicle and give you a list of the problems they found and the price on how much that fix would be. I think the inspection or diagnostic cost was $125. Anyway they quoted me $6,700 for a remanufactured (dont know if i spelled that raight) transmission with a 2 year warranty or a remanufactured transmission with a 3 year warranty for $8,400. Now I'm a single mom of 3 kids... I can't afford that at all! I did end up going somewhere else that was way cheaper. Now if you have money to spare like that, then I'd recommend this place to you. The man I talked with Chris, was very respectful, professional, and helpful. So nothing bad to say other then there very expensive.
What a blessing Jessica, Marty and Brandon were to us on our trip back to Texas! They helped us right away when other mechanics in the area turned us away. They were kind and patient with us. The waiting area and bathrooms were clean and kid-friendly! Truly a godsend!

Not only did they fix our bus after hours, but they made sure our crazy crew was safe and sound for the journey back home to Texas. From the very first phone call to the flawless execution, their customer service was next-level amazing.

While traveling home, my alternator went out at 9 o’clock at night. I called AAA, and they towed me to their affiliate Dun-Rite automotive in Florence, South Carolina. The driver took me to my hotel and said I would receive a call in the morning. I was contacted around 7:30 AM and my car was ready to travel home before noon While it’s never fun to have a breakdown while traveling, the team at Dun-Rite Automotive was extremely professional and courteous. I highly recommend them if you ever need work done on your vehicle.

We had an emergency repair while driving through town and they were as fast and helpful as possible. Let me and my three kids hang out in their lobby area and get food while we figured out how to get a rental and continue on our 6-hour drive. Had the repair finished and ready for us when we drove back through in three days and kept in touch during the whole repair process. Hopefully I'll have a place as helpful and professional every time my vehicles decide to break on me!

We broke down with our dog and had our car towed here. They were so accommodating to us and the dog! Unfortunately, the work we needed done is not part of their offered services (blown engine). However, their diagnostic fee was very reasonable.
I was referred to Dun-Rite for repairs and they quickly diagnosed my problem with a detailed inspection including pictures. The repairs were done in a timely manner and they had me back on the road safely. All repairs and parts needed were explained to me very nicely. The staff were friendly and professional throughout the process.
My father was out of state and had an issue with his vehicle on a Sunday evening. I found this shop online and it was very close to where he was. He went to the shop early Monday morning, and they were able to diagnose his problem and repair the vehicle within an incredible time frame. He wanted to make sure they received a great review, as he was very pleased with their work while repairing the car in a timely manner. Thanks so much to the technicians at Dun-Rite!
Wow!!! Best services and customer service I’ve ever received from any establishment. The first hour of a 15 hour trip, our transmission light comes on. We come in less than 2 hours before they close, praying they can see us but expecting to be turned away, especially because when we pulled up their shop was full of cars already on a list to be serviced. We speak to the owner and right away he says he’ll look at it, no hesitation. Thoroughly looks and finds a few issues and fixes them all in less than an hour and a half. I’ve never received the customer service that I had there anywhere else. It’s unfortunate we’re not local because businesses like this one here are hard to come by. I can tell his customers are more than just business to him. I now see why the parking lot was full of cars. The services here are one of a kind. Thank you very much for taking care of us like you guys did, we are incredibly grateful. Don’t bother trying to find another repair shop, this is the one to trust!!!
