Flynn Automotive & Tire provides a small town shop feel when it comes to personalized customer service, but they offer big city level of expertise and range of services. They’re prices are excellent when considering the level of expertise they provide. If you’re tired of being a number to those corporate auto shops, go to Flynn’s for a refreshing hometown feel.
Fantastic, fast, great price and honest mechanics!
I brought in an older CR-VSE for routine maintenance and an inspection. Not having records on hand for the work done on the car, and given the age of the car, they suggested some additional work usually done in the lifetime of the vehicle - but they were not pushy about it at all, instead just providing the estimates for me to consider at my leisure.
It shouldn't be rare to find a mechanic that isn't aggressively trying to sell you something, but it is. My old mechanic was Craig Pierce of the now closed Pierce Imports, and I've been looking for somebody I could trust since then. I've finally found it in Flynn.
I took my motorcycle to them for a problem with the electrical system because they are very close to my home and they said they could deal with it. They got me in quickly and finished quickly. They found some wires that were grounding out and spliced in new ones and wrapped them. They said it was now charging and working properly, and charged me $936. They told me their hourly rate was $104, but I don't think they spent 9 hours on it. In any event, the electrical system still doesn't work and the battery is still draining, so I paid almost $900 (gave me a AAA discount) to have some wires replaced, but that's it. I was hoping that I found a local mechanic to work on my cars, when I didn't want to, or couldn't, do the work myself. I suppose not. The dealer would probably be cheaper in the long run. They were all very nice, though, but I won't be going back.
Update: I didn't bring the bike back to Flynn because I didn't want to spend another $900 to have it still not work, but thanks for the suggestion. I realize now that my getting screwed was partially my fault when I believed them when they said they could work on my bike. Their radio ads mostly talk about doing uncomplicated work - tires, wipers, headlight polishing and inspections, so I guess the $900 bill was a cheap lesson to learn before one of my cars in for anything major.
I Called about getting some tires I had purchased “used” put onto my truck. They didn’t give me a hard time they just informed me of their policies. This was on Thursday they had an opening Friday. I drop my truck off they did the tires, mounted and balanced. Alignment, oil change etc. VERY REASONABLY PRICED AND GREAT SERVICE ???

For me - any mechanic could tell me “hey you have a unicorn in the engine and we need to have it removed” I’m like “well since I no nothing about engines and kind of believe in unicorns..I guess that makes sense “ joking here but time and time again Flynn has been spot on with troubleshooting. And yes, I have brought them something that I know what is wrong and they are spot on. Finally, they always give a list of suggestions for next time and these tips have kept me on the road way past when my car should have died. Love them - and you will too.
Great experience here. I was up here from Philly visiting family and needed help with my car. They got me in right away and were so helpful! They communicated everything so well and provided quotes and all the information I needed to make a decision and not feel pressured. Very happy with the work they did. Highly recommend!
I’ve had a couple of my cars serviced at Flynn’s and they are excellent! They are professional and trustworthy and fair. I was informed throughout the process, including photos of my engine, and they delivered on their word.
My daughter had her car in to have any deficiencies that would cause her car to fail inspection, corrected.
She spent thousands of dollars to have repairs and replacements done.
She got her car back on a Thursday, and the check engine light came on on Saturday.
Took the car to Autozone, where they read the code for free, and suggested what needed to be replaced.
Went to Flynn with the readout, and they said that they would have to do their own reading and she would be charged
When reminded that she had just spent $2k last week, it did not matter. She would be charged.
The estimate given was for $424 for the part and to do the work.
I ordered the part from Amazon for $21 and an OBD scanner for $40. New tool investment. And it took me ten minutes to fix it.
So, now. NONE of our families cars will be going here, and the planned underbody rust coating job and the Serpentine Belt replacement I had been planning for my Mazda will go elsewhere.

If you don't take care of your customers, someone else will.
I had over $1000 of work that I was going to schedule with you this month.
I did not say that you did anything wrong, but your front facing customer service staff should be given some discretion.
We had a readout already, and just wanted you to replace the part, $21 and reset the code.
You wanted $424 and it took me less than 10 minutes.
Your business greed is more important than customer service.
Good luck in the future, I wish you no ill will, but I will now search for a better service provider.
Reading your responses to reviews, you never have done anything wrong and blame the customer.

My Chevrolet Sonic water cooling inlet/outlet developed a crack and coolant leaked out causing the engine overheating sensor to come on. I was on vacation for the week and couldn't leave back home without this fixed. Flynn's understood my situation and got my car fixed within the same day. I cannot thank them enough. Good customer service is a rare find these days, I'm so glad I found it at Flynn's.
I was recently stranded in Narragansett when my BMW lost all of its coolant. I brought it to Flynn's. They were able to look at the car and diagnose the problem immediately. While they could have fixed it, and charged me the more than $900 for the repair, they told me that the part was on recall by BMW, and I could have the repair done free of charge at a BMW dealer. Since I am not from around here, they advised me on how to have the car towed, where to tow it, and what I should tell the dealer about the problem. They knew exactly how to handle the problem and helped me to do so. I highly recommend them as a repair shop of integrity. They could have charged me and I would not have known the difference, but they didn't. Honest and kind!
I brought my 14 year old, high mileage BMW in for what sounded like a catastrophic exhaust leak from the engine bay. I literally thought it was time to buy a new car.
It was diagnosed and repaired within a day, and the cost was less than a car payment. The car is running like a top. Thanks Vin!

I've been using Flynn Automotive for a while now, and I have to say, the service from the time you enter the door to drop off your vehicle until the time you walk out of the door after picking it up is terrific. Always friendly, truthful, and informative about your vehicle problems and your options for solving them. I am almost 40 years old and have had my share of different auto body shops I've done business with. However, I can wholeheartedly say that it will be my last until Flynn Automotive closes shop.
Quick and top-notch customer service. Best of all, fair prices. I took the car in to reattach a heat shield and they did the headlight lenses too. These 20 year old lenses were opaque. Look at them now!
Fast, professional, accurate, and well performed maintenance. I highly recommend checking these guys out. I haven’t been impressed with a shop in a long time.
The Flynn Auto team just completed some work on my old classic muscle car and really did an outstanding job. I’m really picky about my car and had a number of “special requests” that they were more than willing to help with. In particular, I couldn’t find my wheel locking lug nut “key” in order to get wheels/tires off the car, and the lugs were pretty recessed. Most places would have refused to accept the job of trying to get the wheels removed, but they did with no reservations. Also did a great job re-adjusting my steering box which can be tricky to do properly.
The entire team (Vinnie, Mike, Ruth, and the technicians) were all extremely friendly and more than helpful. Kept me informed throughout all of the work and took good care of my car while it was there. I highly recommend Flynn Auto and I will absolutely be using them again in the future…
1st time visit but not the last
After reading great reviews on Facebook & Next Door Neighborhood I decided to book an appointment. I am glad I did. It was just a routine oil change but I was greeted by a friendly hello upon walking in. The reception area inside looked clean & comfy. There was even outside seats on the small deck by the entry way.
I dropped the car off a short time later received a call for a recommended spark plug change based on the age & mileage on the car. They gave me a quote for the total work to be done. A couple hours later I recieved a text the car was ready for pickup. The personnel were friendly and professional. A great 1st visit.
My cars have been expertly cared for by Flynn Automotive for more than 20 years. Vinny and his crew are expert, thorough, and courteous. They are honest and charge fairly for excellent work.
Owner, Vinny, sold me a car that he picked up from one of his clients. There was an oil leak which was promised, in writing, to be fixed. Instead of actually fixing it, he put in stop leak in instead. This was not what was agreed upon, he had in writing, said he was replacing the oil pan. I was a client of Flynn’s auto before I bought it as well, with my previous car and trusted him. Vinny knowingly screwed me over, even though I had it in writing that he was going to fix the problem. Do not buy any cars from him or trust him to properly fix your car.
Unfortunately, this is a real review, even though the owner does not want to admit it. I worked in the community and did not feel comfortable trying to sue as I did not want it to affect my career.
Went there for advice. They held me up 2 weeks and made me feel like a criminal when I was actually doing someone a favor! Insulting and a waste of time.
I see the owner replied and was dishonest. I NEVER got an estimate and my son's car was there 2 weeks, you claimed you forgot to call.
Also, I have a friend who uses Flynn, always pays top dollar and has a related problem soon after. He is going to choose elsewhere after his latest problem is fixed.
Defensive and dishonest....poor business qualities!
They have a great reputation for honest service and professional work. This is my go-to for car inspections and repairs. I have not done any tire business with them just yet.
I have been having my elderly car repaired and maintained at Flynn's for many years. Beside the excellent service, they are careful about finding problems and letting me know so I can decide whether to repair them. Whenever I have found a problem after picking up my car, they take it in immediately to check and remediate. On top of all that, these are the most considerate, professional and friendly people with whom to do business. I recommend their service to everyone without hesitation.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Flynn Automotive & Tire in Narragansett! Ruth made my appointment and she was so kind to me, also very understanding about our crazy schedules. Mike went above and beyond for us and provided consistent, A+ customer service. The repairs made were done properly, in a timely manner and we are very happy with the end result. I highly recommend Mike and the entire team at Flynn for your car needs! Great place and so happy we went there!
I was referred to Flynn automotive by a friend who highly recommend this shop. I definitely know why, their professionalism, prices, staff, & attention to fix it right & not make excuses to squeeze more money out of the customer was incredible.

I had a suspension lift installed on my truck and it came out incredible. Job was way more labor intensive than what the kit suggested, Vinny showed me all replaced parts and I knew immediately this was a bigger job than we anticipated.
Final result was an amazing job, truck looks awesome, rides great & very happy I was recommended to Flynn.
We are new to the area and our daughter is away at college and her car was due for inspection. A few local friends had recommended we go to Flynn Automotive. Our experience was absolutely perfect! I always bring my car to Flynn Automotive. I know I can trust them to do a great job no matter how big or small a project it may be. They are honest, knowledgeable, and the pricing is more than fair. Mike, in the front office always does his best to work around your schedule, and Vin, the owner always remembers me and greets me by name. I have referred many people to Flynn and all have had great experiences as well; I would not hesitate to do so again. Really, one of the best mechanics/shops in the Narragansett area.
