I’ve been a customer for 8 years and used to recommend this company, but service has clearly declined. Over the last 6 months, our trash pickup has been inconsistent, with multiple missed collections and repeated promises of follow-up/extra pickups that didn’t happen. I’ve called four times in the past two months to report missed service. The representatives I spoke with were courteous, but the underlying issue still hasn’t been resolved. We are on autopay and have never missed or been late on a payment. Our trash is always placed out correctly, and placing it any farther would put it in the roadway—so this isn’t an issue of us not having it out. I canceled service after paying three months in advance and am owed a credit for January 2026 and a refund for February–April 2026. I was told the refund could take 6–7 weeks and won’t even begin processing until the container is returned. That means I’m once again dependent on this company’s timeline—despite already dealing with extended missed service (currently over two weeks). I understand occasional delays due to weather, holidays, or staffing. But a six-month pattern of missed pickups, followed by an unusually long refund timeline, is unacceptable. I’m requesting that my refund be processed within a reasonable timeframe (10 business days), so this can be resolved promptly.

What a joke of a business! We were late over the summer, our fault. We paid the past due amount, reconnect fee and 3 months in advance ... or so we thought. Today they removed our can without any communication, even though they said they did when I called them. They then proceeded to tell me we were past due again and couldnt find the 3 month advance we made in September. Even though they again tried to make me pay the past due amount, reconnect fee and a 3 month advance. If you charge a 3 month advance when reconnecting the service, YOU SHOULD KEEP RECORD OF THAT!!!

Been with them six years. Suddenly they have ‘no record of my address’ but had record of billing me every month. Can’t get a hold of anyone via phone. Update: I spoke with office person directly a week ago and they said it would be fixed. No call back and trash keeps piling up. I got a response to this review and took the time to email response and nothing. I recommend not wasting your time and stay away from this company or if you are forced to deal with them plan ahead and reserve any hours of time when talking to their “customer service prevention department” Here is why the want to hide from answering customers and refer you online. More wasting of your time

Always reliable with trash and recycling pickup, customer service is excellent; delivered cans within 24 hours!!! of signing up for service! Fishers, take note! Charges are upfront, on a three month / quarterly cycle. Surcharge for fuel? Yes. But again, it’s upfront and no missed pickup, no unpleasant manager yelling at and arguing with you. And NO fraudulent charges for “extra bags.” Plus they are unionized. Thank you for your service -!: top notch customer service! I’m in union county, in case service varies by county.

Your customer service is extremely lacking. I called because once again our garbage wasn't picked up. I get informed it is not our week. It is next week. We didn't put a can out last week. We put it out the week before with our recycling which it scheduled for. They both fell on the same day for pick-up. Woman kept telling me that they picked it up as a courtesy then and other times because they never fall on the same day. I think she needs to figure out how a calendar works. She said if we just paid for weekly then we wouldn't put it out on the wrong week. I then asked for a manager unless she was the one. I was connected with a mail who I missed his name. Said he was assistant manager or something like that. Basically parroted everything the woman said including going weekly. Gave me a price of an extra $7 a month. Like we don't already pay enough with everything especially the fuel surcharge. I asked why that was still a charge. Especially since fuel prices are down. He told me it was also for maintenance and training or something like that. Is this true or just BS? Needless to say I have about had it with Hometown or Park or whoever you are this week. I'm considering looking elsewhere now. Thanks Philip Martin

In the somewhat recent past (as many of these reviews point out) Hometown was struggling to pick up our garbage on a weekly basis. However, they would eventually get to it, which often took a phone call (and the customer service ladies were fantastic). But, whatever issues they were having seem to have been resolved. It has been months since we had any issues. They faithfully pick up the garbage on schedule, just as they used to. These guys are affordable and always take care of business. Don't worry about the negative reviews.

Awsome service! Drivers are always super to talk to...Great Guys, Great Service! The office is also great notifying us of schedule changes. Always pleasant and very accommodating. I've been with them for many years, I'm in my 70s and plan to stay with them, they're the best!

I regretted that I had to cancel with Hometown Disposal. They had to contract out to another company thru the winter, because few in our area have been using Hometown Disposal anymore. The services they were contracting out to kept missing weeks, delaying, dropping some of the trash, etc. So I had to go with another service. The office staff at Hometown Disposal was courteous and very considerate when I would call to complain and stuff though. It looks like they're doing their best, but it's not working out for them, and that makes me sad and aggravated.

Reading everyone’s negative reviews and thinking how my family has been dealing with the exact same issues as everyone else. We went with hometown because they offered residential dumpsters. With a family of 8, we needed that. Plus I take care of my mom and if anyone’s ever taken care of a family member or anyone you know that’s a lot of garbage in its self. They are constantly not picking up the trash. I email the supervisor every single time. We’ve continued to deal with it because it’s hard to find a place that offers a residential dumpster in my area. Funny how they make sure that bill is sent on time. And that’s another thing. The amount of money we’ve paid the last few years is crazy. It just keeps going up and paying for gas for the trucks on the bills. Yet they never compensate for the weeks they miss. We have to let the garbage pile up as much as we can until I have to pay to get rid of what I can’t fit. It’s getting absolutely ridiculous. So if you are looking for reliable, affordable services. This is not the company you want.

I've been a longtime customer and have my account setup on autopay. My service has been neglected now for the past few months. I'm considering looking into another provider for my garbage collection because you can't provide the service that I've been paying for since I contracted you.

Like many others here, we were hometown customers for many years and have been shocked at the decline in service over the last 6 months in particular, although we haven’t been as happy since they got bought out a few years ago.. The workers went on strike end of summer and I was told by a customer service person that they were not using “scab” workers, but that they were bringing in their own workers from other areas. Well, all I can say is if they haven’t settled the strike yet, they better soon because the fill-ins aren’t getting the job done and they’re losing customers. We have been patient over the past several months, but today was the last straw. Our trash bin is overflowing with bags, it’s a windy day and the lid is flapping open and I’m embarrassed that my neighbors probably think we’re derelicts. We have a family of four including a baby in diapers, so we make a lot of trash and we need it to go when it’s supposed to go. I don’t want to stockpile trash in my garage and have to guess what day they’re showing up. Way too many instances of our trash not being picked up and we have to call sometimes two and three times before it’s picked up. Sometimes it’s only picked up a day or two before the next scheduled delivery. Sometimes we’re told they came by but couldn’t figure out where our trash bin was, even though it’s been sitting at the exact same spot in front of the garage behind the rear of our house since we started with them. They apparently drive by the front of the house and if they don’t see the trashcan, they just keep going.. The customer service people all have southern accents and I think they’re out of the area. They’re very very nice but they also seem puzzled by why our trash is sometimes not picked up. We were hoping to wait out the strike so we could support the union workers when they come back on the job, but our hopes are now dashed.We are in the process of finding another hauler starting today. So disappointing.

3 weeks now of no service. They have no issue taking your payment but I now currently have 6 bags of trash piling up while the service I pay for is neglected. Luckily we’re only a 2 person household. I can only imagine what a family of 4 or more can accumulate in a 3 week period while their service is ignored. This company used to be reliable.

The drivers went on strike and seems like the company is dragging their feet in negotiations. I'm not supporting a company that won't properly take care of their employees. Gone weeks without my trash picked up and even calling every single week it's still missed. I canceled and went to Tom danleys disposal in sunbury.

In the last 4 wk or so this new company does not know how to put a trash can back where they took iy from. Seems like it's always left in the road where a car can hit it coming down the street before we can get to it and bring it back into the driveway. A couple of weeks ago they missed my garbage completely and the woman that lives across the street from us. Since I moved here 9 years ago I never had a problem until now I am so very very disappointed.

Hometown disposal doesn't haul garbage, they are garbage! I personally have never seen a Co. go so far downhill so fast. I've been a faithful paying customer for years. Their service was always fair to good. But when you have to call every week that your garbage hasn't been picked up only to be told it will be picked up some other day or the next week is unexcepable! The only thing that they're good at is sending me the bill on time! I'm DONE! Looking for a good local garbage man. Update- just got a new trash service so glad I did! Dropped of a brand new roller can and got my first pickup today! On the day they said and I'm paying less!

New ownership? New Management? Been with Hometown Disposal for 20 years. I can say this company’s service has gone down hill the past 3 months. Weeks go by before trash is picked up. I am forced to take time away from my full time job to call every few weeks to complain about how the trash hasn’t been picked up. Everyone I speak to someone, they act like they have no idea why it isn’t being picked up when I call. I am on auto payments linked to a credit card. Never a day late with monthly payments. No one is quite able to tell me why all of a sudden trash isn’t being picked up. Just looking for the loyalty to be reciprocated. Hometown Disposal isn’t what they certainly were 20 years ago.

Unfortunately this company has been in a slow decline. Within the past year they have missed picking up the garbage on the agreed upon day several times. When I contacted costumer service they had no clue that the trash was not picked up. Communication with customers on delays is none existent with Hometown Disposal. With their cost being significantly more than others, you would expect top notch service and communication with their customers.

What a fast decline in service, years of no issues and now they won't pick up my trash without calling them the day after it was missed....3 weeks in a row. This 3rd time I got no response and the trash still didn't get picked up the next day. Looking at the newest reviews....my experience is concurrent with many others. I just switched to another company and would recommend staying away from hometown disposal.

Have had hometown disposal for about 9 years, recently their service has became no good. My trash was visible but not pulled down the 3 ft it normally sits to pick up, they totally passed it by. I called to cancel for one last service to be picked up, so now I have a pile of trash of 2 weeks worth and it still sits out. The nice lady tho that I called is going to have it picked up no layer than tomorrow

I am extremely disappointed in the recent service from Hometown Disposal. I understand they are having union issues and I wholeheartedly back union workers-but this lack of customer service and being lied to repeatedly by them when calling the customer service line is totally unacceptable. They don't pick up my trash but one time all month but want to bill me for getting the garbage hauled. I had to put 3 bags of nasty smelling trash in my car and take it to the transfer station in Sunbury myself and pay them $9 to get rid of it. Yes, this is much cheaper than them hauling it to begin with but I'll pay for convenience of curb side pick up because I don't want the hassle or the smell in my vehicle. I pay Hometown $32.00 on average a month for 4 bags of trash that would cost me roughly $12 at the T Station when they pick up my trash. Something is very wrong with this company as of late and it needs to be looked into.

I'm 71 and disabled. After 5 years of decent service for single stream recycling, they will no longer pick up at my home because I don't have the ability to place the container at the curb! When I first signed on with them I was assured it was okay for their guys to get the container from my carport, which is highly visible and only two or three car lengths from the curb. I called them in August and they did come the next day. Now when I called yesterday (Sept 26) to let them know no one picked up again, I was told if I didn't place container at the curb then they would not stop! I explained my situation. The young woman on the phone just repeatedly said if it wasn't at the curb the driver would not stop. I am forced to cancel the service and Hometown is not what it once was, nor cares to keep a customer.

Just learned that Hometown Disposal has been using non-union workers for four weeks due to a strike. Coincidentally, my service has been absolute garbage (pun intended) for the last month, with two pickups having been completely missed, leaving my trash piling up on the curb since I was told to leave it out for potential pickups that never happened. Of course animals eventually got into it, so that was fun. You can't get through on the phone and emails are no longer being responded to; they've also shut down reviews, comments, and tagging on social media. Private trash pickup is an insanely dangerous job and these workers need all the protection they can get.

2 weeks worth of garbage outside my house. Called yesterday to make sure I didn’t owe them money was assured it would be taken care of today. Even went as far as leaving my trashcan in the road to make sure it was seen if they had new drivers. The truck didn’t even go down my street today.

I have been a customer for years. I always paid 3 months in advance for the garbage pickup up. This last 6 months has been hit or miss. Sometimes they pick up and sometimes not. This last few weeks my garbage has been piling up. Phone calls to them are not returned sometimes and the ones that I reached customer service was same excuses, different day. Promising pick ups that never happened. I was so afraid my towns code enforcement would cite me. Finally today I had someone else pick up my 2 weeks worth of garbage. I tried to call Hometown to fire them but still haven't gotten a call back. Please don't deal with this company. Also my son uses them and they haven't picked up his garbage in 2 weeks. He's been calling and all he gets is promises for a pick up that never comes.

This frickin' company! I had NO problems whatsoever over the past several years with them. The pickup guys were very good about putting my empty cans back neatly where they got them and in one piece, even as far as putting them back on my porch. However, on this last pickup day, they never picked up my trash cans, but they were able to see a trash bag by itself from a neighbor directly across the street as well as 2 trash cans from another neighbor across the street? I called 4 times on the day they missed me and talked to several different customer service reps and basically just got the run around...they are not done with your side of the street, wait till 4PM and call us back, you're on a return, we'll get ahold of the dispatcher, etc. The next day, I had 3 calls in to them with the same replies. Tomorrow will be another day of calling them, I'm sure. This is just plain bad business. Come on, Hometown....get your act together! EDIT: Now 3 days from my non-pickup, and several more calls with the same exact excuses and still no pickup. Now told that it would be picked up on my next pickup day....1 week later! What a bunch of bull. Maybe Hometown needs to reserve a truck to go around and pick up the trash that the other trucks on the route "forgot" or "didn't look for". Why should your employee Strike affect me? If you are going to have replacement drivers, then you should really make sure they know their pickups!!! EDIT to the EDIT: 2nd week in a row and still no pickup, this time no one on our street got picked up. Don't even bother answering their response to your Google Review. Did what they asked in the response and still nothing. Just lip service.

They have gone downhill with their service over the last few years!! They’ve continuously increased our bill, stating the rising cost of fuel and other business related costs. I think they’re just price gouging. The recycling service is unreliable to say the least. Some months they’ll pickup on time, others, they won’t or won’t pickup at all. I’ve had to call their customer service center (be prepared to be on hold for a while) multiple times and was given the excuse that they’re on a delay and was asked if we put out the recycles the night before, which we always do. There’s been a few times where we’ve gone a month without the recycles being picked up, even after having multiple calls to them to let them know and have given the same excuse- they’re on a delay and will try to pick up the next day. They may or may not call with a service alert to let you know they won’t be able to pick up the garbage. It’s just been a frustrating experience and we were more than patient with them multiple times. We only stayed with them because it was still fairly cheaper than with other garbage pickup services. You get what you pay for. We cancelled our service with them ultimately and went with another trash/recycling pickup service. If you want to be frustrated and have unreliable service, Hometown Disposal is just for you!

On multiple occasions, we were promised "double pick up" when they wouldn't show up. Of course, this did not happen. The lady at the office was rude to my wife, when she was only asking when they would be able to pick up the trash. I would highly recommend not to setup auto pay with this company. We are consistently paying for a service that we are not receiving.

Used them in years past... had no issues. Now, in the last month, three "service interruptions" - this time around, when my pick up day was supposed to be Monday morning, there was another service interruption, and they said they would come the next day, and it's now Thursday evening and my garbage is just piling up. I left messages twice, and they have not called me back. They have horrible customer service. I requested a refund since they do not provide the service and I am paid ahead. I am looking elsewhere. Anything has to be better than this!

The Hometown Disposal service has been lacking and the pick up times have been later and later. The service is sloppy and residual waste is ALWAYS present when they finally do pick it up. Today, I placed several bags out at 5am and by 10am animals have ripped through 3 bags to which I had to go out and pick it up by hand after being notified by the coder enforcer. I stopped placing the trash out the night before a scheduled pick up because they are unpredictable with their times. There have even been times when the trash wasn't picked up at all and I had to call to remind this company that the trash is still present. This is extremely unprofessional! The picture below is what I had to deal with this morning!
