I am incredibly grateful to Howard for helping me deal with a tricky situation. When I needed a second opinion after dealings with a shady mechanic in West Philly, I called Wagenwerx and Howard was able to fit me in that same week. He thoroughly checked over my car and was able to assure me that it was in good condition, effectively saving me the 1.6k the other mechanic had tried to convince me to spend to “repair” my car. Howard is professional, friendly, and his shop is clean. He has good music taste as well. His rates are more than reasonable. But most importantly, he is honest. After his help this week I have vowed not to take my car to other mechanics. I would gladly recommend Wagenwerx to anyone else looking to get their VW well-serviced for a fair price.

Exactly what you want in a mechanic. Howard took the time to listen to my problems and discussed potential solutions with me. Communicative and had my car back to me on schedule. Very happy to have found a trustworthy and reasonably priced mechanic.

Because Howard at Wagonwerx totally earns it every time. 🚗💛 Walking into Wagonwerx feels like pulling up to a friend’s cozy house (where the friend also happens to be a VW whisperer). Howard treats my 2008 VW Beetle 🪲 like it’s his beloved classic, every inspection is a VIP spa day for my ride and the prices are absolutely reasonable. 🛠✨ He walks me through each check-up, showing me repairs step-by-step 🧐➡️🔧, and we even daydream together about upgrades (hello, lifetime door handles 🙌). Thanks to his sage tips, I’m now confident enough to do some light “car housekeeping” myself. 🧽🚘 Bottom line: Howard is the VW Doctor 👨‍⚕️🚙, his prescriptions keep our cars happy, healthy, and road-trip ready. I try to only review places that provide meaningful and outstanding service. Wagenwerx/ Howard is an incredible shop/ human who puts care and extreme attention into what he does. Came in just for an oil change and PPI inspection and he was able to guide me in a straightforward manner on things I can do to keep my Audi running for a long time.

Howard is a gem!!!! I’d been going to the dealership for work since I’ve had my first Audi for fear something could go wrong. Wagenwerx was recommended to me by a friend years ago but I never made it until now. Great work, constant communication, education/updates, and competitive pricing, lend to an overall pleasant experience! I’ll be coming back here for all my Audi work moving forward.

Howard, the owner, is probably the best person to go to for any VW work you need due to his knowledge. He knows the ins and out of the brand, and if you’re going to buy a VW I’d recommend bringing the car here for a pre/post-inspection. I’ll probably take my car here for any fixes on my GTI from now on. Probably the most notable thing about the business in my experience is how nice/friendly Howard is! One of the best experiences I’ve had when dealing with anybody and my car.

Howard is the best! He fixed my 2015 VW Jetta in one day when other repair shops normally keep my car for days at a time. I was beyond impressed. When I moved to the Philadelphia region, I looked for a VW-specialty mechanic and I'm so glad that I found Howard! Hello- I have been taking my car to Howard for inspections and other minor things since 2019. I have a Volkswagen Jetta and love that this is the vehicle that he specializes in. In the years that I have been coming to him I have found him to be honest, trustworthy and most importantly fair. He recognizes that his customers have options in terms of car service, but I believe that he values everyone and their business that they bring to his shop. I live right in Wyndmoor so it is nice to have such a great and reputable business right in my backyard. Will continue to bring my vehicle here for service as long as Howard's doors remain open. Wow, Howard is the best I gotta say. Very fair and definitely loves what he does. He’s friendly, he doesn’t try to up-charge you and he’s a very much stand up professional and person. Howard of Wagenwerx is the mechanic I trust the most in the whole philadelphia area. He treats my car as his own. Always great and honest work. I asked for a front brake replacement and he advised me that I had a few more months before it would be out of inspection and I could save my money for other things until it was necessary. Any other mechanic would have replaced the parts and taken the money. Always checks my fluids and lets me know if anything looks like it may be an issue. Give him a call!

Until I found Howard at Wagenwerx, it had always been a challenge finding a place I could trust to have car maintenance and repairs done. At previous shops, repair work always ended up costing more than estimated leaving me wondering if the cost wasn’t being jacked-up or if ‘suggested needed repairs’ (which the dealers always seemed to have some addt’l work to suggest!) were truly needed. With Wagenwerx, I never have to wonder because Howard always explains everything needed to be done and is always fair with pricing and explains everything and is always a pleasure to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable with the different car types he services and will work with us to make any job affordable. My whole family takes their cars to Wagenwerx and Howard is always professional and ensures a quick turnaround—he has always figured out what needs to be done to fix any car problems we’ve had and is able to get needed parts quickly. He even shows you the old parts he replaced and explains where the problem happened (if you want to know—being the daughter of an engineer, I want to know bc I love to see how it all works!). Our family always keeps our cars for a long time because we like not having car payments!, and having Howard to do regular maintenance and upkeep ensures our cars are in great shape so they last. It’s been a great lesson for our kids to see the benefit of taking proactive care of their cars—they realize the cost for regular service and maintenance is much less than having to do huge repairs, and we’ve all enjoyed learning from Howard! I found this shop a few months ago and I won't take my Jetta to anyone else. Howard is an absolute professional! He's timely, organized and tells you exactly what needs to be done, how long it will take and the cost. Your car comes back fixed the first time! I live in Austin Texas, but I help my sister in Philly with her aging Beetle convertible that she absolutely loves. Her car failed a State Inspection at a tire store chain location and the repairs they recommended to pass inspection were going to be super expensive. I did some searching and found Howard at Wagenwerx, and we had a great experience! Howard got the car all sorted out, didn't complain a bit that he had to talk to me in Texas and saved us some money along the way with great diagnosis and practical/affordable repairs that will keep the car running safely and reliably for the long term. Howard is really into Volkswagens, really knows his stuff and is great to work with! I couldn't recommend him more highly.

Howard helped me out of a very tough situation that I was dealing with on my recently purchased 08 VW Jetta. Excellent experience!! Howard diagnosed and repaired my car after a very thorough assessment. Howard went the extra mile by replacing a weak battery in my remote. He is efficient, professional and very trustworthy!! I'll definitely come back!!

Howard is an expert, and most importantly, he is honest. I've been taking my 1998 Volkswagen to Howard for 4 years now, and he keeps my 23 year old car in tip top shape. My most memorable moment with Howard came when I brought my car in for routine service, and he noticed that a part he replaced had malfunctioned, and he replaced it again for no charge. I didn't know the part was leaking at the time, but still, Howard just changed it out for me. Again, Howard is an expert, and I highly recommend taking your car to him.

Hands down my best experience with an auto mechanic of any sort, in my 25 years of driving. Howard is conscientious, competent, deeply knowledgeable of VWs and German cars in general, fairly priced, and communicates in a trustworthy way that you don't find very often. Howard is a great mechanic who cares deeply about his customers and their cars. I trust him with my most prized possession and thanks to his work have enjoyed many awesome, trouble-free trips in our old VW.
