This yard has really went downhill ever since CMI bought out Weitsmans , I will say it’s probably the cleanest yards in pa but other than that I don’t see this yard staying open the next 5 years .
Prices are ridiculously low
Metal shop doesn’t seem to know pricing , was a guy there a few years ago who knew what he was doing but haven’t seen him since .
Most of the operators in this yard seem extremely novice at best .
I own a demolition company and use to bring 30+ ton in at a time during my busy season last time I brought a load down here The dude who runs the crane in the back smacked my 80,000$ dump trailer and could care less .

, first thing, u gotta be on the scale, stop there, and wait for green light, but
before that wear your safety gears, and go and check in into the office, and then wait for their instructions as there is only one dock for unloading, so its gonna be a bit wait, don’t enter the premises as it would be hard for you to make a u turn, but the workers are nice, they will help you out. Thank you
If i could give no stars i would. This place is a joke and nobody knows what is going on in that place and they can't even tell you the prices when you ask. The one girl in the office goes "i'm sorry I'm from Canada and didn't understand what you were asking" when i asked what the price difference was. I will NEVER go back!
That lady down in the precious metals building using the small scale she has got to go she is the worst employee I don't understand why this place has her like seriously bad Note to the owner if you want to make money get rid of her cuz she is dramatically reducing your income where do I start she works slow she will make people wait while she chatterboxes she gives people the wrong price for stuff like an electric motor she will put it as copper bearing and just to make stuff faster even though she's moving slow she'll put your clean aluminum in with you dirty aluminum if you ain't on top of it she just doesn't care about the company or the customers

Hey Einsteins, this load is Shred. I separated my Shed for a reason in the other load since it was clean aluminum including the screws... Explain to me how this dirty ass crap I got $48.86 but totally clean Aluminum including the screws I only got $20.36? Attorney General, and BBB, how many people do they do this too???
This right here that I set aside to take down separately because it was 💯 Clean Aluminum. The screws in it were even aluminum. Clean aluminum at $0.60 a pound and 300 pounds of it is $180.00. As you can see in the receipt, they only gave me $20.36 even though I kept telling her to look at it. It is Clean Aluminum, and she insisted it was shred. Now my 2nd load is Shred metal, not that load. My wife and I even made sure to clean it off. How many other people do they rip off

Place is a joke I've hauled more cars back home from there than I can count never had that problem at sa recycling. They also like to tell you that there own little rules are pa law and that's definitely not the case.
I brought in aluminum wire I burned the insulation off. They told me it was dirty and it wasn’t worth much. I said then you would rather have it with the insulation and what would be the value. They just gave me a blank look and didn’t answer.
I hate when you go there scale worker checks and tells u that you have unprepared structural but then when go to dump somebody else think they hot shot comes speeding with bull dozer shaking his head no so I roll window down an said no what guy on scale said it’s unprepared he then backs bulldozer up drives up hangs bucket over my friends trailer which could damage it and gets out tells me it’s not unprepared it’s shred but yet every mobile home I tore down it was I always anything under 3ft is prepared structal over is unprepared when comes to frame also not mentioned if u go to warehouse they have that old lady back there that will pick and choose how much certain people make but yet if I go and they guy there I have no problem I’m in and out
Times are tough sometimes so I frequent here sometimes with aluminum cans or wires. Every time I go here while the last worker might take things others will not. When the lady explained shred to me I was told that if it has screws or anything other then all the material without extra things it reduces it costs. Talk about inconsistent. Beings as I am a person who knows next to nothing about recycling anything other then cans so to get over on someone like me is fairly easy to do.
Take your heavy #1 & #2 steel elsewhere if you want a fair price. Their staff classify everything as tin/shred. No point in arguing because they look at you cluelessly.
Pay attention to the scale weight as the inbound scale losses 20 to 60 lbs as you wait for the scalemaster who you can see is doing nothing to weigh you in and out bound gain the same average. Don't waste your oxy/acet because it only costs you money. Like most business they hire people with no knowledge so you lose. Take anything 1/4 inch and over towards Ohio if you want the value you spent your time and resources seperating. The scales for specialty metals is also questionable. They weigh an empty plastic 5 gallon bucket as 5 lbs. If you have quatity take it elsewhere. An apology to a post such as on other posts is not making up for the losses I have taken. Be honorable to your slogan. Asking people to request a specific person proves my point about knowledgeable employees.
Took a load of #1 steel in and only gave shred price. The people in office were very rude. And after weighing in no one tells u where to go ...I do not recommend this place to anyone unless u want ripped off and terrible experience
I thought I found a great place to go. I had 1100 pounds of cast iron. If the scale guy didn't know if the coal stove was cast, then he should have told me to take it to shred and reweight the rest of cast but instead he called it in as all shred. I told the cashier but all she did was apologize.
It’s a great place it’s a popular place the people that work there have always been nice and they give you a great price for your product sometimes it even goes up people come from all over to this place it truly is a popular place and this business provides a great service
This scrap yard is one of the best around. They pay well. Employees treat the customer with respect. Some go out of their way to help you. If you need to take your scrap in anywhere. This is the place to take it.
Great group of people and they pay the best price around. I won't go anywhere else it's worth the trip even from Mercer and Crawford counties. Don't waste your time going anywhere else.
This scrap yard has some good things going for it but it has some problems too. For the good, they pay good for the scrap. The yard is clean and well set up for a scrap yard. Unfortunately they are real pain to deal with. As other reviewers stated, they are always coming out with some new rule that you are supposed to know about. I live an hour and half away and more than once I have driven all the way there with a car only to find out that they changed something and refused to take the vehicle. It is sooo frustrating to waste all that time and fuel only to be rejected at the scale. They also seem to find any way possible to dock what they pay you. I get tired of being harrassed about my load. I have hauled numerous loads there and probably had them complain about something 75 percent of the time. I have also taken scrap to their Jamestown NY location and they are great up there. They have never said anything bad about my load at that yard. Unfortunately the New York location doesnt pay as well since they don't have a shredder there.
Beware to all my scrap buyers,Do Not goto Ben Weitsman in new castle,this place is a joke.haul a truck in today and they have it unloaded then tell me they cant take it and wants it loaded back up after they destroyed it gffoh,if you had a problem with the title to begin with why have it unloaded?Then want to threaten me with the cops because I'm not hauling the vehicle U weighed in at 15.540lbs,weighed out at 11.400
This place needs a book of rules every time you go there you will get hassled about some new B.S. Rule that nobody knows about, Ive been hassled a few times now. I will NEVER GO THERE again and I would recomend you take your business somewhere else. This place is a joke don't waste your time with them.
This place is top notch, I served in the military for 13 years. Every employee who seen the stickers on my truck thank me for my service. The guy on the scale was very helpful and told me step by step on where to go. Yard was very nice and neat for a yard.
First time there and I had no clue what to do, the guy running the scale was not helpful at all. Then I go in to get paid and the kid couldn't even say "hello" took my ID and then paid me my money. Didn't say a word the entire time to me, he didn't even bother to count me out what I made. I had to figure out everything by myself. Nice yard just the staff can be rude.
I can definitely give this place a 5 star. The yard is tidy and the employees give ya a lending hand. Ya even learn more about what's worth more like the gentleman that helped me out today. Great place to do business with and will continue to get my business.
