We blew out a tire on I-80 near US 11. The AAA tow truck driver changed our tire quickly and even showed us how to safely get to a local tire service center!

I’ve debated writing this review for awhile now because I really don’t like calling businesses out, if I don’t have to… But it’s now come to this, so here goes… I’ve been going to Mausteller’s for a few years now; my husband’s family used them for a long time and they came highly recommended. I’ve had multiple vehicles there, and they’ve usually been honest and done good work. Last year though, something changed. I have a 2011 Dodge Journey; I drove it for a longer trip one day and by the time I got home, it sounded horrible. A loud rattling under the hood that just got worse as I drove. Took it into Mausteller’s; they diagnosed a bad flywheel. (or flex plate) They quoted me a price, we agreed, and they did the work. Got the car back a week later- it sounds better, but there’s still a clunking noise under the hood. Turns out, they left a wrench under the hood of my car! It eventually fell out, and I thought all was good. Not so… A few days later, while making another longer drive; my check engine light came on. Ran a code reader, it showed a failing torque converter. I had my neighbor (who is himself a mechanic and owns and runs a garage as well) look at it- he told me that NONE of the bolts for the flywheel were tightened; and they were coming loose. He tightened them for me, but recommended taking it back to Mausteller’s to look over everything, since they did the work. We did so, they claimed everything was fine. Fast forward a few months, my car is now not wanting to move when I push the gas pedal; and also not shifting correctly while driving. Took it back to Mausteller’s; they tell me it’s leaking transmission fluid because the front seal (NEAR THE TORQUE CONVERTER) is bad. They then tell me they can’t fix it for at least 3 weeks, “just keep topping it off with fluid and we’ll let you know when we can get it in.” They put 3 quarts of fluid in during this visit. 2 DAYS later, it’s back to not wanting to go. I check the fluid- it’s down 1/2 a quart already. I hadn’t even driven it, this was over a weekend. I added the 1/2 quart; the next morning, heading to work, it’s doing it again. I stopped and checked the fluid, it’s now down a WHOLE QUART. I can’t keep driving this car; it’s leaking faster than I can put fluid in! I end up taking it to another garage- they inspect it and my husband tells them about the flywheel repair. This garage tells me that not only is one bolt MISSING; but the bolts being loose could have caused the damage to the seal due to them vibrating while I was driving. Those vibrations could also damage the torque converter. And, shocker, I now need a new transmission… My husband went to talk to the owner of Mausteller’s; he very rudely told my husband, “I KNEW you were going to come back here and say this. We didn’t even touch the transmission, not our fault.” I’m including screenshots from Google that prove they didn’t have to “touch the transmission”- the fact that they didn’t do their job correctly is most likely the reason I’m now out over $5000 for a new transmission. Any competent mechanic would KNOW the connections between certain parts; and any honest one would admit when they made a mistake and at the very least, TRY to help the customer they wronged… We also had an issue when we took my son’s Jeep in to have the radiator replaced- they, for whatever reason, cut a wire that controls the headlights and windshield wipers; making nothing work correctly and as my son described it, “like my car was possessed.” They tried to brush it off and say, “we didn’t touch that, but we can look it over in a week” until my son found the reason and my husband MADE them repair what they had cut! It’s sad, but I completely lost my confidence in and respect for this garage. For the record, I am not accusing them of anything- I am simply stating my opinions and things I learned from other garages and my own research. I will NOT be returning to Mausteller’s for anything though; as it is my opinion that their work is the cause of my car’s issues.

I honestly had such a great experience here. As soon as I brought my car in, they took the time to look at it pretty quickly and explained everything to me in a way I could actually understand. They told me exactly what was wrong and gave me a clear estimate upfront, which I really appreciated. They also helped me with some extra paperwork I needed, which made the whole process so much easier on me. Everyone there was super friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. When I got my car back, all the issues I was dealing with were completely fixed, and it’s been running great ever since. It was such a relief to finally have everything taken care of. I’ll definitely be coming back here if anything else comes up. It’s hard to find people you can trust with your car, but I truly feel like they care and do honest work at a fair price. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a reliable mechanic!

Do not waste your time with this company. AAA should remove them from their list. Called to asked if he missed me by chance because the app said he was 4 min away and the person started being combative. He said do you want me to miss you again I tried to explain myself that I was just asking because AAA had informed me that he was 4 min away and I wanted to make sure he didn’t miss the area I was in. Said he was going to stop the service since I was being combative. I called AAA to stop the service because he doesn’t deserve to received any payment for his lack of professionalism.

The alternator went out in my jeep so I Called mausteller for quote on a tow requiring a roll back got a very fair quote. Went into their shop paid the bill and gave them keys and pick up-drop off locations, when I tell you these guys are ON TOP of it they are GREAT! I was home maybe a while 15 min by the time I see the flat bed with my jeep coming up my lane! I'm so appreciative for the prompt and friendly service from every single person I encountered at maustellers! If I ever need a towing service again they will be first on my list to call! Thank you a thousand times over maustellers!

Was driving on 80W Feb 3rd around 6:20pm My truck can only go 69mph. Was passing a line of tractor trailers when a flatbed driver for this company was tailgating me for a mile, proceeded to pass me, give me the middle finger and brake check me. His actions reflect on the company as a whole and his road rage was unprovoked. Very immature and unprofessional. Would give zero stars based on this one employees actions on the road. Reckless behavior that could cause harm to himself and others. I would suggest driver training again, maybe anger management as well.
